Why do miracles not happen in our time
-
Peace to you hawk99,
It is not a co-incidence that the word translated as 'sign' or 'miracle' in The Quran is commonly the word 'ayat' that means quite plainly 'verses' in the way that we understand them and contemplate on them. They are The Signs within The Book.
And the verses of The Quran indeed hold the Signs and Great Signs; all of them, and yet when they are manifest in plainly miraculous ways, even those who say they are grounded in knowledge and purity of thought can only turn their heads and eyes away, as the 'mountains' that had cast shadows upon them, crumble.
The annihilation of past communities stands for the destruction of falsehood and its harms. That is what the Signs accomplish.
People continue the futile search for supernatural events and entities in some physically or materially impossible momentary event (by universal standards), to prove things for them - when the generation of human 'consciousness' arising from within the substrate of the material world (the mind) is a miracle to those who know; and of 'prophet consciousness' which The God bestows upon chosen servants, interacting with the revealed signs of The Book inscribed in Scripture. This brings to believers a means to certainty and trust for The God through witnessing His Great Signs.
The Signs are brought to humanity through the 'prophet consciousness'. They are made manifest from the unseen; into our material reality to emerge as mathematically verifiable 'Clear Proof' ('al-bayina' that we can record. And the revelation is true like all mathematical truth, for eternity; established and pre-destined by The God.
Peace.
Peace all,
Can someone help me find the word miracle in the Quran handshake
I typed the word miracle in the Qurancorpus and the results were search not found!
Any help will be appreciated.peace

The terminology of Mu‘jizah It is a supernatural occurrence associated with a challenge that cannot be opposed.
Mu'jiza would be form IV feminine singular active participle, never used in the Qur'an, but masculine form mu'jiz is used. The reason for feminine is due it's "a thing", "a condition" in which the verb's happening. Verb's describing inability. In a transitive form IV it can describe casting inability to somebody.
The reason mu'jiza is never used, as I see, is that mu'jiza doesn't exist, Allah is not casting anything upon us to disable us, to prevent us to escape from something. It's that He's All-Powerful and whatever our power is we cannot overcome His will, there's no need to impose anything on us.
Even Resulullah had a choice to deliver the Qur'an, so the Qur'an isn't mu'jiza as the "scholars" try to present it. But the Qur'an is aayet and in it are aayaat.
Word aayet can also describe something which is "not natural", but in a sense that it's not some everyday thing, (not a) thing one could expect as it's same as others, (not a) thing which is common, etc. It's not above His Laws, but something which is unusual, as we pass by all yellow houses and we see blue one, that could be aayet.
He creates aayaat for us to see/experience something different, but they're not "supernatural" either, as "scholars" are trying to find something visible to believe in.
We should know that some "things" cannot be known to us, but we can only believe. Thus nobody can find a proof for Allah or Aakhiret, because there's no way we can understand/see Allah and Hereafter, we have to believe. One can ask "why we have to believe kutub, rusul and melaa'iket?", since we can see "books" and people-mediums for His message (messengers). We can see, but belief is related to belief in Allah, since Allah's the Origin of the Qur'an and Muhammed is resool of Allah, we cannot know this, we cannot be witnesses and we cannot proof this by any logical argument. Otherwise if we present that argument others would understand it and many would accept it as an ultimate proof.
One should take belief in Allah and Aakhiret as a premise, axiom and build all logic on it.

Miracles are events that happen outside the laws of physics. The Qur'an describes this very clearly and in detail.

By the way, who said it doesn't happen today? You only think so because you have not personally witnessed it.

Peace truth, yes, the word ayat appears throughout the Quran, but where does the word "miracle" appear? Not miracle by deduction or analysis but the Arabic word miracle. thanks in advance.

Peace Aladin Azra thanks for your reply, why isn't the parting of the sea or Noah's life span of 950years and other supernatural events not referred to as miracles? Must we decide what are miracles?

Peace Hawk.
As far as GOD is concerned there are no miracles. Everything is possible. GOD will not use the word -miracle - when He does something as everything is easily doable for Him.
You will find Qoran using the word Aayat for signs, or verses or miracles- as far as we are concerned- and according to the context.GOD bless you.

We can't decide, but these "things" never happen. What is happening is all natural, bounded by natural laws. That's why if Allah wants to punish some town or area He was sending floods, strong winds, earthquakes, etc. No magic and no "angels from the Sky".
Yes, there's a lot of things we don't understand, on personal or wider level, but yet nothing supernatural except in human imagination. People tend to ask/search for proves and that's great, but there's no "miracle" that can prove Allah, WE HAVE TO BELIEVE, we can't know.

Peace Hawk.
As far as GOD is concerned there are no miracles. So as far as your good logic is concerned ) God did not reveal any miracles in his revelation. Therefore, I understand from your reply that the translators have incorrectly misinterpreted the use of the word "miracles".

Peace good brother in your opinion the splitting of the sea by Musa was not supernatural? The man who slept for a hundred years was that not supernatural.
Are you saying those two things do not qualify as miracles. I am not asking about things like winds, floods, earthquakes, etc.

I do not want to hijack the discussion between hawk and aladin, just wanted to ask a question (without being on either side per se.
Suppose we go back in time, way back and tell the men of those times, that in later centuries to come, man has set foot on moon, humans can communicate via people far off land by actually seeing and hearing em. men can vanish a whole city with millions of people with one nuclear missile, and the list goes on.
What do you think those men at that time will say to us? for them these events of now would be super natural (if they have a definition of super natural) and they would not believe because for them these so called events can only be accomplished by God and not by humans..Fast forward several centuries from today, and support we witness planet earth as empty of any human life because humans have shifted to another planet or they found another earth and moved there... (of course using the technology available then),,,, would you and I not see that as super natural?
The point is anything which we cant comprehend with our current state of mind and cant explain may be termed as super natural but it has happened due to the natural forces or ingredients which are already available in this universe. Some times God says be it and it happens and other times humans have learned how to do it.
Some Quranists deny these super natural events and tried to explain the logic (especially parting of sea- where some quoted that Moses was told by God via wahee the exact time of low tide). For example see this link
https//www.wsj.com/articles/how-did-moses-part-the-red-sea-1417790250#~text=In%20certain%20places%20in%20the,are%20said%20to%20have%20crossed.
Quote
"in certain places in the world, the tide can leave the sea bottom dry for hours and then come roaring back. In fact, in 1798, Napoleon Bonaparte and a small group of soldiers on horseback were crossing the Gulf of Suez, the northern end of the Red Sea, roughly where Moses and the Israelites are said to have crossed."The point I am trying to make or understand is that those events mentioned in Quran may have happened literally or metaphirically, but God has created this world with a precision and yes he can do all things but he has set in motion until a day when these laws will be broken - not before.
In the end the main purpose is to believe in the message and you wont be asked about these events in order for you to be judged by Almighty.
Best Regards

Adding to my previous reply.
And We certainly sent Noah to his people, and he remained among them a thousand years minus fifty years, and the flood seized them while they were wrongdoers.
Now this is a super natural age for me if I consider 950 years (as per todays calendar cycle). Please correct me, do we find similar age verses in Quran or Noah is the only exception? If so then this verse could mean the era of Prophet Noah (not that he lived 950 years) or perhaps the way people count years in his time was shorter than our calendar days.
Thanks

Azra is not presenting her opinion here, so you are making a futile effort. He is a sectarian who follows opinion leaders.
In their sect, they take words out of the context of the sentence and the book by saying "the root of so-and-so word means so-and-so, actually it means this".
They give symbolic meanings to verses when it suits them. And when it suits them, they divide the word into syllables and accept the literal root meaning.
Another characteristic of this sect is that they do not believe in jinn and angels. For example, they call jinns the human race, while they call angels the representation of natural phenomena.
They do not believe in miracles. Like the pagans, they admire nature and its laws. These are their sacred.
They think that Allah does not know the future.
They believe in evolution.
They are mostly leftists.
People in this sect also have some other beliefs that vary from person to person. But in general, this is their religion.
Some of them also believe that there is no salaat or pilgrimage. There are even some who declare them haram. But as I said, there can be different views on these issues among people belonging to this doctrine. It's just like individuals in Sunni or Shia sects may have some personal different acceptances.
But in general, they are imitators who follow the opinion leaders. They are loyal to their sect.
So they are not really Koranists.

Yes and no will be my reply to your statement ,quote
"GOD did not reveal any miracles in his revelation. Therefore, I understand from your reply that the translators have incorrectly misinterpreted the use of the word "miracles"."GOD does not want to put up a show for us, He did not use the word miracle ,the word used is "Aayat or Bayyinat or Tibyanan because He wants to teach us and make us aware of His ways and system to lead us on His path.
For us most of what GOD does are things we cannot comprehend and call miracles Creation for example .
For me I find Qoran style and language a miracle , let me explain by few verses"We have cited in this Qoran every kind of example, but the human being is the most argumentative creature.
Nothing/or what prevented the people from believing, when the guidance came to them, and from seeking the forgiveness of their Lord, except that they demanded to see the same way of GOD- miracles- as the previous generations, or when they come face to face with GOD s punishment?
We only send the messengers as simply deliverers of good news, as well as warners. Those who disbelieve argue with falsehood to defeat the truth, and they take My Aayat and warnings in vain.
Who are more evil than those who are reminded of their Lord's Aayat, then disregard them, without realizing what they are doing. Consequently, we place shields on their hearts to prevent them from understanding it (the Quran), and deafness in their ears. Thus, no matter what you do to guide them, they can never ever be guided.
The message is summarised beautifully by the Arabic language in these few verses.One can say "Aayat here can mean proofs,verses,miracles and signs...etc

The splitting of the sea would be supernatural, for sure, but there was no splitting of the sea. Even, it's not about sea at all, but the River. Nile is called el-baHr. And no, even Nile didn't split, but Musa used his stuff to measure river level and safely cross it.
For a story about "100 years sleep", I think you're talking about event with "dead bones", right? The whole story is a dream, as some scholars say, I think Abu Layth is one of them. There're a several stories which are dreams, as a story about Musa in surah Kehf. I also agree that if story about "100 years sleep" is reality than it would be supernatural in my current understanding and I'll admit that I was wrong and there're supernatural things for me. But I don't see it like that. Also there're stories in the Qur'an which I currently don't understand or understand partially and I can't judge, but from what I understood nothing supernatural is happening.
Fusion, I agree that many things look as miracles to us or would be miracles for those before us, but normal to us (as cell phones), but still they're not supernatural. Btw, Moon walk happened only by Michael Jackson
We can label something as miraculous, incredible, wonderful, wondrous, stupendous, impressive, prodigious, etc. but it won't make it supernatural, unless we're sure that we understood all the laws in it and we found that it have something super (over) its nature. Even if we're sure that we understood all there could be something we didn't understand.
There's no flaw in Allah's creation.

So...have you witnessed any?
As I have already mentioned, yes, I have witnessed it many times.
Apart from these, I also had an encounter with a jinn. But jinns and angels are biological and material beings like us, and seeing them is not against the laws of physics. It's just that they have different physical properties than us (for example, being invisible)

Miracles are events that happen outside the laws of physics. The Qur'an describes this very clearly and in detail.
https//free-minds.org/forum/index.php?topic=9611877.0
By the way, who said it doesn't happen today? You only think so because you have not personally witnessed it.
And I Said;
There is no symbolic expression in the Qur'an. More precisely, if it is going to describe something representatively, it says "it is like this, it is like that" and clearly states that it is making a comparison and gives an explanation (it states very clearly what it compares what to what). The Quran is already a clear book. There is nothing like this/symbol in the verses about these miracles.
When God does something in the same way, we call it a law. But when He does something differently in what is called a miracle, not only do we understand that this is something that man or jinn cannot do, but we also witness that Allah has the power to act as He wishes with His free will. As you know, there are pantheists who worship nature, the universe and the laws of physics. They believe that the universe and its laws are unchangeable and inviolable because they see them as God. God answers this misconception by creating outside the laws of physics. In fact, polytheistic teachings throughout history have often been part of pantheistic spiritualism. Islam is in struggle with this pagan doctrine. This spiritist doctrine is also communist and you will find that those who defend the immutability of the laws of nature are generally left-leaning.
Today, the spiritists are trying to infiltrate the movement to return to the Quran and present their pantheistic and leftist teachings as if they were from the Quran. Unfortunately, this is one of the reasons why verses that talk about miracles are being interpreted in terms of the laws of physics.
There is also the fact that the laws of physics do not yet know exactly what they allow and what they do not allow, even by scientists. Today they may say that the speed of light cannot be exceeded, tomorrow they may say that it can be exceeded, that the laws of physics allow it, and that we have just realized this. Jinns and angels are actually physical beings, and because the scientific world has not yet discovered them, they are perceived as if they are beyond the laws of physics. But no, they are material beings subject to laws, just like us. They have just not yet been discovered by science.
In the Star Trek movies and TV series, which claim to be based on scientific facts, teleportation is possible, and in the last episodes, food and blessings can be produced directly from the energy of the universe with supercomputerized machines. It is also known that there are black holes in the universe and a black hole the size of a dot can swallow huge planets or stars.
Also, as I mentioned earlier, a civilization advanced in science and technology can do anything that the laws of physics allow, so should we accept their religious beliefs and teachings because of what they have done? Of course not. Whatever the laws of physics allow, we, the servants, can do. There is no miracle in this. It is only for people who are not at that level that these things are seen as miracles and are misleading. The real miracle is to go beyond the laws of physics and no one can do that except Allah.

Peace and blessing be with you
Many miracles or signs that are happening everyday are taken for granted or we are not conscious about them. Breathing for example is a miracle. The rising and setting of the Sun is a miracle and so on.
One thing for any miracle to happen is to have faith in Allah swt.
If only we can connect to Allah swt, miracle can happen.

Also we can make miracles happen in our life with GOD s help if we totally submit and follow GODs guidance and instructions. A big decision to see miracles and do miracles for our own well being .
Miracles like these- Turn our volatile and confused state of mind into a peaceful one.
- change our conduct and attitude direction from a bad state into a better state- Yes this can be a huge miracle -.
-Open our eyes and ears to navigate our way with our intellect and reason through the journey of life. GOD will shine the light for us if we keep asking Him and using His advice.
-Miracles happen every day .GOD does everything .To GOD everything is easy to do and there are no miracles as far as He is concerned. All good comes from him and everything GOD does has a good reason behind it.
The best miracle for us is that GOD can turn our bad deeds into good ones if we totally submit and follow Him and His commands/instructions.
GOD bless you all.
