i understand the answer as to why the “signs” are not given anymore lies in 1759
“and what has prevented Us from sending signs except that the former peoples denied them and We gave thamud the she-camel visible, but they wronged her and We send not the signs except to make them fearful” (1759)

Edip Yuksel made the following explanation after translating I have given above "Traditional translations render the meaning of "Ma" as a relative pronoun rather than a negative particle, "What stopped us from sending…." The traditional translation implies that God initially sent signs/miracles to convert people and had an intention to send more signs but He is now disappointed to learn that His signs did not work as expected. Such an implication contradicts the attributes of God detailed in the Quran. Besides, we are repeatedly reminded that the purpose of sending signs/miracles has never been to make people acknowledge the message, but to support the open-minded people in their rational inquiries. The traditional translation also contradicts other verses of the Quran that remind us that messengers were supported by signs/miracles."

if you want, we can just look at the word “il’la” in the verse which means “except that” to understand the verse
for me was clear, the previous ones rejected the signs so He stopped sending “those kind” of signs
He is not “disapponted” He knows everything He creates the future… remember He says in ch 36 the Quran is so the word (hell?) is justified against the rejecters, perhaps same thing for the signs… they rejected them so they have no case for themselves
is He “disappointed” if people go to hell? no, He knows who He sends there and who He sends to paradise, He decides… so its not a question of being “disappointed” but i think to justify hell on the rejectors and paradise on the believing good doers
of course only He knows and i may be wrong along the whole line

Like brother Hawk asked me before in this thread and I replied that GOD does not do miracles to boast,show off or play games with us.And to GOD they are not miracles anyway.
GOD is not a narcissist or a show off or putting on a show for His creation Like some top Scientist -say Einstein or..- challenging a 5 year old child with a rocket science equations.
GOD does everything for a " GOOD REASON" to teach us about His traits ,power and ways. Some of these things are way above our intellect to grasp comprehend or understand with our incomplete knowledge. GOD is capable of creating for a good reason and everything done has a need for other things done by GOD. So we are the ones translating "Aayat/s" into "miracles.So they are impossible things for us to do or comprehend how they were made/done.
Our take on what GOD is saying needs correction of attitude and more knowledge/pondering and insight..

Could it be because we are near the very end? Maybe the only miracle we'll witness is the day of judgment? Because why would God give so many past nations miracles yet leave us with none?
