Who is رسول Rasūl?
-
God's command "and obey Allah and the Rasūl رسول"
This command of Allah is used in many places in the Qur'anوَأَطِيعُوا۟ ٱللَّـهَ وَٱلَّرَسُولَ
In almost all cases, this entire expression is taken to mean that we "obey Allah and the Messenger". The term وَٱلرَّسُولَ "we -r-Resūle" is, according to its grammatical form, a noun, masculine, in the singular, of a specific form, which means that it refers to something defined, so it is claimed that the term لرَّسُولَ "e-r-Resūle" refers to a person who has the role of God's messenger. The question arises, is this really so? Let's think logically.
The first of the people who received this order from God was Mohammed a.s. We will agree that this order applies to everyone and no one is exempt from it. So, Mohammad a.s. like all others, Allah commands "all of you obey Allah and the رسول (Rasūl".
The question arises as to who is the Rasūl in this case to whom Mohammad a.s. is indebted. subdue?
رسول is the product of root letters ر س ل
It seems to me that the term رسول (rasūl) in the Qur'an refers to the Message it self that Allah sends, not a person. If we were to follow this understanding, then Allah commands Mohammad, peace be upon him. and all the others to obey Allah and the Message, which is quite understandable, because how else could Mohammed a.s. and all the rest obey Allah without knowing about Allahs Message.
It should be borne in mind that the passive participle with the letter mim (م) is used in the Qur'an to indicate the passive bearer of the action, so we have the expressions mu'minun, muslimun, mutteqin, muhajirun, mushrikun, etc. In surah Ja-sin it is said about Mohammad a.s. إِنَّكَ لَمِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ - innake le min al-mur'selin "Truly, you are from the messengers"
