    Peace

Non Qur'an alone Muslims keep telling me that it says to obey those in authority among you as an argument for following hadith. I don't understand what God means by this. Obey scholars? Obey worldly authorities? But why would it jump from religious authority (Allah and the messenger) to worldly leaders? Wouldn't it still be referring to religious leaders? I admit I don't know the context of this verse, whether it's referring to war or not. Could it be referring to army generals? Just people who know a lot about following the Qur'an alone? But that doesn't really refer to 'authority'.

Obviously it can't mean to follow hadith because
'Obey God and obey the messenger. If you turn away, then the sole duty of the messenger is the clear delivery (of the message of God).' 6412

His only duty is to deliver and teach the Qur'an. No extra-Quranic laws
We did not leave anything out of the Book (Quran). 638

1.Don't be a troublemaker regardless of where you live.
2.Follow the laws unless they conflict with God's law.
3.If there is a conflict with Gods law ,look at point 1.

If you live among Muslims be peaceful and if you live among non Muslims, also be peaceful. I think people wildly overthink this stuff in large part because of the distortion introduced by Christiandom in particular.

IMHO Islam is not a religion (but has room for people who want that). It is a system of thought and following that, a system of being. Christianity generally speaking is far more hokuspokus based.
