Archiving Forum

Just to share what Dlovan is saying because I missed some of the tech stuff, we cannot have the old forum function as it creates a conflict with the main site (the forum runs on a different code which is not compatible). So we can create and archive/library which is static - but not activate the forum again.
@Layth I’m glad this forum is still active. I don’t plan to join reddit, as it feels inferior to this space and because I belong to an older tradition of online discussion. I have never had a reddit account. I hope you will keep this forum open along with reddit until a new and better forum is created in the future.

Brother Layth, I have a suggestion for free-minds.org. In the navigation bar/menu on the front page of FM, there is a section called "Interact". Can you add a link to this forum to that section?
I suggest adding a link to this forum by writing something along these lines (see below).
Interact
- Subreddit
- Archive forum
- Open/active forum
- Voice chat
- Links
- Polls
-
The archive is now available for people to read/search in. It has nearly 500k posts.

Hi everyone..
Last decade or so I shared my knowledge and I learned as well by being in this forum..
My advice to true believers is RELY on the DIvine alone and seek from Him alone .. such forums and conversations and debates help but nothing is like the Divine guidance.. Keep reading the Quran and explore the living scripture in parallel ... Keep doing good things in life and try to avoid evils as much as you can... Never put anyone on a pedestal. Just rely on the Divine..If anyone wishes to have amicable conversations only about guidance of the Divine, my WhatsApp is open for you.. 0094766313017..
Thank you everyone.. Goodbye forever...May the blessing of the Divine be with true seekers..

Peace jkhan and everyone,
I really hope you don’t quit posting forever. You bring something unique to the forum, and it wouldn't be the same without your input. Even if you can't post as often, it would be great to see you here from time to time. I totally understand if you want to take a complete break from the forum, and if that means stepping away for a year or more, that's perfectly okay. I have personally taken long breaks from the forum in the past, sometimes up to a few years, and those breaks have helped me recharge, gain a bit of clarity, and return with a fresh perspective and perhaps some newfound strength. I also agree that it's a good decision to reduce online engagement or take breaks when needed. It's smart to take breaks from time to time, and I respect your decision. Whenever you feel ready, even if it's a very long time from now, I'd be happy to have you back. Remember, the Quran teaches us the importance of staying connected to our community and not isolating ourselves, as unity and mutual support are foundational values in the scripture of the Lord (see verse 3:103, 5:2, 9:71, 30:31-32, 42:13, 49:10, and 61:4).
Your advice to true believers to rely on the Divine alone and seek from Him alone is good advice. Life can sometimes feel out of balance, but if we focus on our faith and put God first, everything else will naturally align. Like they say, "Put God first and everything else will fall into its proper place."

Just to add to what I shared earlier, when the time comes to step back from engaging in forums, social media, or the constant cycle of news consumption, it’s more than just taking a break. It’s a power move, a decisive act to reclaim our time, our focus, our purpose, and our priorities. Constant scrolling and endless distractions silently drain these things from us, often without us realizing the toll they’re taking until the damage is irreversible and we can't get back what we've lost.
Unfinished tasks can hold us back like a trap. They can become chains that shackle our potential. Whether it’s finding a job, pursuing education, or building new skills, unfinished tasks can quietly pile up and hinder our progress. Unfinished tasks can also include reaching out to others or being open first to a non-romantic friendship and, in time, to marriage with a likeminded person who shares our faith and dedication to reading and studying the scripture of the Lord. It is crucial not to leave these tasks undone, for unfinished tasks can burden our minds and become weights on our shoulders and backs. They can blur our focus, limit what we can become, and restrict what we can give to others. But when we face these tasks head-on, we cut the chains off and free ourselves to think clearly, act decisively, and create productively and with purpose, both online and offline. Each completed task is more than a milestone reached, it is a step toward becoming more of who we are meant to become.
Individuals cannot give more unless they have more, and they cannot have more unless they first become more. When individuals become more, they gain more and can ultimately give more. Facing our unfinished tasks is the foundation of our transformation. When we do what we have left undone and tackle our unfinished tasks, we transform potential into progress, weakness into strength, and burden into blessing. Each completed task frees us once again to think clearly, act purposefully, and create effectively and with direction.
Reducing online engagement or taking a complete break from engaging in forums, social media, and news isn't wasted time or missed opportunity. In fact, it's an investment in our focus, our progress, and our future. It can free up time for different types of work, such as intellectual work, creative work, charitable work, and so on. It also benefits the people close to us, such as our families, friends, and acquaintances. The people around us win when we're focused, confident, and guided by a sense of direction, and they lose when we become drained, distracted, and overwhelmed. When we neglect our duties and responsibilities, we lose, and everyone around us loses as well. Neglecting our duties and responsibilities might seem like a way to avoid discomfort, but in the end, it only causes more stress and delays progress. There is no avoiding the hard part. There’s a powerful and profound saying that captures this truth perfectly: "The only way out is through."
Even the strongest bodybuilder knows the crucial importance of rest to rebuild his muscles, restore his strength, and come back even stronger. In the same way, we all need periods of time to pause and recharge so we can come back stronger and more present for those who rely on us. We owe them that, and we owe it to ourselves. This isn't a retreat or a surrender. This is a high-yield investment in ourselves and in the good of everyone connected to us.
