These are some verses to reflect on, as they reveal profound quranic insights about life and the universe.

    How truth functions

21:18 Nay, but [by the very act of creation] We hurl the truth against falsehood, and it crushes the latter: and lo! it withers away...

This verse teaches that truth naturally destroys falsehood, just as light eliminates darkness or heat eliminates cold.

The spiritual consequences of abandoning revelation after knowing it

7:175-177 And tell them what happens to him to whom We vouchsafe Our messages (ayatina) and who then discards them: Satan (l-shaytanu) catches up with him, and he strays, like so many others, into grievous error. Now had We so willed, We could indeed have exalted him by means of those [messages]: but he always clung to the earth (l-ardi) and followed but his own desires (hawahu). His example is like the dog, if you scold him he pants, and if you leave him he pants; such is the example of the people who deny Our revelations. So tell the stories, perhaps they will think. Evil is the example of people who are bent on giving the lie to Our messages: for it is against their own selves that they are sinning!

These verses speak about the spiritual consequence of abandoning revelation after knowing it.

One of the roles of the devil (shaytan)

22:52-53 Yet whenever We sent forth any apostle or prophet before thee, and he was hoping [that his warnings would be heeded], Satan would cast an aspersion on his innermost aims: but God renders null and void whatever aspersion Satan may cast; and God makes His messages clear in and by themselves for God is all-knowing, wise. [And He allows doubts to arise] so that He might cause whatever aspersion Satan may cast [against His prophets] to become a trial for all in whose hearts is disease and all whose hearts are hardened: for, verily, all who are [thus] sinning [against themselves] are most deeply in the wrong.

These verses indicate that the devil (shaytan) acts as a trial only for people with two types of spiritual (moral) conditions.

The seven heavens and seven earths

65:12 God who has created seven heavens and the same number of earths; the command is sent down between them; that you may know that God is capable of all things, and that God has encompassed all things with His knowledge.

This verse explicitly show that there are seven heavens and seven earths. Moreover the seven heavens are created in layers (see 67:3). The concept of seven heavens and seven earths is far beyond the scope of current human knowledge and remains beyond modern scientific understanding.

Hints at extraterrestrial life and beings that surpass humans

42:29 And from among His signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the creatures He spreads in them. And He is able to gather them, if He wills.

This verse indicates that creatures exist in both the heavens and the earth, pointing to the possibility of extraterrestrial life. While nearly all of earth's land has been mapped, only a about a quarter of the ocean floor (about 25 percent) has been mapped and explored, and the heavens beyond remain mostly unknown. This leaves much of our earth and the universe still a mystery. Since the Qur’an points to creatures in the heavens and the earth, chances are some of them are not on Earth. Beyond this, the Qur’an teaches that humans are specially honored and elevated above much of God’s creation but not all of it, subtly hinting that some created beings surpass humans (see verses 17:70 and 37:11).

    Jinn inhabit the earth

72:12 "'And, withal, we have come to know that we can never elude God [while we live] on earth, and that we can never elude Him by escaping [from life].

This verse confirm that jinn live on Earth, proving they are not extraterrestrial. Moreover, the quran indicates that jinn have limited access to the heavens/space (see verses 55:33 and 72:8-9). Lastly, there are no verses in the quran which explicitly state or directly indicate that Jinn are invisible, unseen or have the ability to shapeshift. The notion that jinn are shapeshifting and unseen comes from a mix of Arabian mythology and folklore, where jinn are often described as elusive or able to change forms. Hadith literature further supports this, implying that jinn can shapeshift and additionally mentions that they are unseen (invisible) to humans.

Consider these additional verses, which also reveal profound quranic insights about life and the universe.

There are two types of believers (al-muminina)

4:95 Not equal are those who stayed behind from the believers; except those disabled; with those who strived in the cause of God with their money and lives. God has preferred those who strive with their money and lives over those who stayed behind by a grade; and to both God has promised goodness; and God has preferred those who strived over those who stayed behind by a great reward.

This verse shows that there are two types of believers (al-muminina). There are believers who strive with their money and their lives in the cause of God, and there are believers who remain passive. Both types of believers are promised ultimate good, but those who strive in the cause of God with their money and their lives are raised to a higher rank (darajah-an) and will receive a great reward (ajan aziman).

      Modesty and humility are crucial

57:22-23 No calamity can ever befall the earth, and neither your own selves, unless it be [laid down] in Our decree before We bring it into being: verily, all this is easy for God. [Know this,] so that you may not despair over whatever [good] has escaped you nor exult [unduly] over whatever [good] has come to you: for, God does not love any of those who, out of self-conceit, act in a boastful manner.

17:37 And walk not on earth with haughty self-conceit: for, verily, thou canst never rend the earth asunder, nor canst thou ever grow as tall as the mountains!

      25:63 For, [true] servants of the Most Gracious are [only] they who walk gently on earth, and who, whenever the foolish address them, reply with [words of] peace;

31:19 Hence, be modest in thy bearing, and lower thy voice: for, behold, the ugliest of all voices is the [loud] voice of asses"

These verses teach that true strength lies in humility and modesty.

Similarities between malaika and natural forces

13:13 and the thunder extols His limitless glory and praises Him, and [so do] the angels, in awe of Him; and He [it is who] lets loose the thunderbolts and strikes with them whom He wills...

This verse mentions malaika (controllers/natural forces/helpers) together with thunder (a natural force). This verse indicates that there are similarities between malaika and natural forces. Both malaika and other forces of nature obey "God's will" flawlessly. Moreover, verse 16:49, shows a clear distinction between malaika (controllers/angels/natural forces) and creatures, since malaika are mentioned separately from creatures in that verse. Remember, in the Qur’an, malaika and other forces of nature flawlessly obey "God's will", while only humans and jinn have free will, and other creatures act by instinct.

Three verses reject the idea that malaika are females, while another verse shows they are not males either (see verses 6:9, 17:40, 37:150 and 43:19). This means that they exist beyond human gender and form. The Qur'an also shows that a spirit was sent to Mary and appeared before her as a man (see verse 19:17). But in two verses of the Qur'an, it clearly mentions the malaika and the spirit separately (see verses 70:4 and 97:4). This shows that the spirit is not one of the malaika, but a distinct creation with its own unique role.

A sign at the end times

27:82 Now, [as for the deaf and blind of heart] when the word [of truth] stands revealed against them, We shall bring forth unto them out of the earth a creature, which will tell them that mankind had no real faith in Our messages.

This verse indicates that a dabbah (creature) will speak to people, signaling events of the end times or the Last Day. In every occurrence of the word dabbah in the Qur’an, it refers to living, moving beings (whether humans, animals, or other creatures) and never to inanimate objects such as machines or computers. When the verse is read in its full context, together with all other references to the word dabbah in both singular and plural forms, it becomes evident that neither the traditional nor the modernist interpretations of 27:82 are entirely convincing. Verses 27:82–90 form one continuous passage centered on the events of the end times (the Day of Judgment or Reckoning) while the verses before and after clearly shift to other topics, showing a distinct break in context. So, the dabbah mentioned here is a living creature that will speak to people at the end times. It is not a reference to the computer invented in 1946, nor to the far more advanced computers we have today.

I'd like to share a few more verses that I think really tie into the message of this thread.

Sectarianism and division can lead to polytheism

30:31-32 Turn to Him, and be aware of Him, and hold the contact prayer, and do not be of the polytheists. From those who have divided their system and become sects, each group is happy with what it has.

These verses show that sectarianism and division regarding islam can lead to polytheism. Furthermore, in verse 98:6, the Qur'an makes a clear distinction between kafaru (ingrates/deniers and concealers of the truth) and mushrikeen (polytheists).

The transformative and paradigm-shifting principle of mutual consultation (shura)

3:159 It was a mercy from God that you were soft towards them; had you been harsh and hard-hearted, they would have dispersed from you; so pardon them and ask forgiveness for them, and consult them in the matter; but when you are convinced, then put your trust in God; for God loves those who put their trust.

42:38 And those who have responded to their Lord, and they hold the contact prayer, and their affairs are conducted by mutual consultation among themselves, and from Our provisions to them they give.

These verses show the principle of shura as a means of consulting others in decision-making in a community, particularly in leadership. The principle of mutual consultation (shura) in the quran promotes equality by ensuring that all members of the community have a voice in decision-making, highlighting justice, and the inherent dignity of every individual, regardless of status or position. Moreover, the principle of Shura in the Qur'an is more closely aligned with direct democracy (like in Switzerland) than with representative democracy. On the other hand, the principle of shura in the Qur'an is more democratic than even direct democracy (like in Switzerland), as it not only promotes collective decision-making but also ensures that every individual in a community, regardless of status or position, has an equal voice in the process of participatory decision making and governance, based on justice and mutual consultation. In light of this, the Qur'an is remarkably ahead of our era in promoting the principles of governance and participatory decision-making. What’s more, verse 9:33 points out that God’s divine system stands above every other system, even in the face of opposition.

I have really enjoyed sharing some verses on this thread, and as I finish up, I'd like to share one last set of verses that I think tie in well here. My wish is that they will provide meaningful insight and offer something for reflection.

The true meaning of Servanthood as shown by the Quran

The Qur'an explicitly states that humans were created only to serve God (see verse 51:56). Solely serving God isn't a catchy phrase or an empty slogan. The verses of the Qur'an clearly show us what servanthood truly means. It's not about ticking off certain duties, fleeting actions, or quick tasks. It's not meant to be done occasionally, or when it's easy or convenient. Serving God is a full-time role. It's a daily and hourly commitment that lasts a lifetime. Being a servant of God means living every day, every moment, from morning to night, with that purpose in mind. Servanthood is a profound and insightful concept with vast and far-reaching implications. In fact, it's the very reason humans exist, as stated by the Qur'an (see verse 51:56). Embracing this purpose will align an individual fully with God's will and bring deeper meaning and direction to life, as the Qur'an reveals in multiple verses. Moreover, servanthood offers many other benefits. The most significant of these are found in key verses, where the Qur'an shows that serving God is the key to the straight path and that Shaytan (the devil) has no control (authority) over the servants who are sincerely (exclusively) devoted to God (see verses 3:51, 15:39-41, 17:64-65, 19:36, 36:61, 37:123-128, and 43:64).
