People are truly very eager to invent prohibitions (harams), and unfortunately, this can be seen in every aspect of life. But in reality, the authority to determine what is haram belongs solely to Allah the Almighty. In the verses, the human race to forbid beauties and blessings is criticized and warned against as follows:

    Surah Al-Ma'idah, Verse 87

"O you who have believed, do not prohibit the good things which Allah has made lawful to you and do not transgress. Indeed, Allah does not like transgressors."

    Surah An-Nahl, Verse 116

"And do not say about what your tongues assert of untruth, 'This is lawful and this is unlawful,' to invent falsehood about Allah. Indeed, those who invent falsehood about Allah will not succeed."

    Surah Yunus, Verse 59

Say, "Have you seen what Allah has sent down to you of provision, of which you have made some lawful and some unlawful?" Say, "Has Allah permitted you [to do so], or do you invent [something] about Allah?"

    Surah Al-A'raf, Verse 32

Say, "Who has forbidden the adornment of Allah which He has produced for His servants and the good [lawful] things of provision?" Say, "They are for those who believe during the worldly life [but] exclusively for them on the Day of Resurrection." Thus do We detail the verses for a people who know.

    Surah Al-An'am, Verse 138

And they say, "These animals and crops are forbidden; no one may eat from them except whom we will." And [they say there are] animals whose backs are forbidden, and animals upon which they do not mention the name of Allah - inventing an untruth about Him...

    Surah Al-An'am, Verse 139

And they say, "What is in the bellies of these animals is exclusively for our males and forbidden to our females."...

    Surah Al-An'am, Verse 140

Those will have lost who killed their children in foolishness without knowledge and prohibited what Allah had provided for them, inventing untruth about Allah. They have gone astray and were not [rightly] guided.

    Surah Al-An'am, Verses 143-144

"[He created] eight mates... Say, 'Is it the two males He has forbidden or the two females or that which the wombs of the two females contain? Inform me with knowledge, if you should be truthful.'"

    Surah Al-An'am, Verse 148

Those who associated with Allah will say, "If Allah had willed, we would not have associated [anything] and neither would our fathers, nor would we have prohibited anything."...

    Surah Al-An'am, Verse 150

Say, "Bring forward your witnesses who will testify that Allah has prohibited this."...
