Why aren?t we judged by our actions?

"The example of those who reject their Lord is that their works are like ashes, on which the wind blows strongly on a stormy day, they cannot get anything of what they earned. Such is the farthest misguidance." 1418
I think that verse answers your question. Their deeds will be no good because the unforgivable sin if not repented before death is rejection of the One God.

Peace Born Again
I concieve of belief in one God as an action and if it is to ever result in a verbal manner without it should certainly have had its origin's within. Look at the example of the hypocrites given in 3167 They (the hypocrites) say with their mouths what is not in their hearts, how would somebody understand this in relation to belief, is our words our actions or the opposite here?
I currently hold that One serves God by serving something other than their self, if we believe in one God it should become evident that all there is is God, the less we serve 'self' (illusion, idol) the more we begin to serve the one God.

I think that verse answers your question
That verse didn't answer the question asked.
It is only talking about those who reject God. There are many who believe in God and do bad deeds such as terrorists Osama for one, he believes.
That is the question that Born Again is asking

Peace,
I think that only God knows what will happen to atheists that do good deeds. Isn't God the best of judges after all? He knows if we truly sought guidance, as well as the reasons why we may or may not believe in 'him'. However, if atheists do not have any argument to why they disbelieve in a God, I feel that they will have to answer for that. Anyway, I don't think we can know what will happen to atheists that are good people, just as we cannot know where we ourselves will end up.Peace be with you,

Peace,
Because our Creator/Lord/God has set certain boundaries, limitations, standards and morals to live our lives in the most exemplary/illustrative way to define and discipline our Ways of Lives. Without such definitions, we would be savages and worthless beings (rather beasts) sunken of ethics, etiquettes and morals.
Every action has its reaction, hence the consequences (good or bad). These actions and reactions of every moment of time makes up for overall lifestyle in which one lives. The better the moments , the better the lifestyle. Lifestyle comes from Nature which comes from its Creator. Cherish and love this Nature to obey HIS rules.
Hopefully, this short epilogue to ?born-again?s? post answers the ?why we are going to be judged for our belief in God rather than our actions?? My 2cents!

Peace All,
One doesn't have to proclaim belief in God in order to believe in a higher power. We know it as Allah because that's what we were taught. But the concept of Allah is as indescribable to a Muslim as it is to an atheist. So what is it that actually seperates the 2?
The answer, in my opinion, is intention. And intention should always stem from love. I find it hard to believe that God would condemn the person who has spent his/her lifetime acting out of love, simply because they didn't say "I believe in God". This contradicts the attributes of mercy and compassion.
569...whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, and helps people, for them shall be no fear from without, nor shall grief touch them from within.
What exactly is belief in Allah and the Last Day? Is it that one should believe in these titles? I think not. I think belief in Allah simply means belief in a higher power, the source of creation. Some call it nature, some call it the Source. And belief in the Last Day simply means belief in Cause and Effect- that is, what energy we put into the universe effects the universe in the form of positive or negative that we intended, and hence, that effect returns to us, as we are all one. And lastly, recognizing that helping people provides immediate as well as long-term rewards for the individual and for the world.
What I've described is understood in different words by just about every culture and counter-culture, including science and so-called atheism.
As a wise man once told me, we mustn't subscibe to the Kingdom of Names.
Peace,

I cant see any answer...... Are you saying that someone like Osama who has a stronge belief in God but does bad deeds will be judged only on his belief and not his action??
Given two people
1... Pope John Paul (a non believer according to many muslims)
2... Osama (a believer according to most muslim)Are you saying Osama will be judged more favourably..

We know that God is merciful but the thing I cannot comprehend is why we are going to be judged for our belief in God rather than our actions? I?ve known ateists and people from different faiths but they were good people. What if he / she is a kind of guy who may convert to islam but is deceived by the false propaganda against it or he / she thinks that religions are man-made because there are so many of them and chooses to be agnostic. What if he / she becomes a deist for the same very reason?
9906 On that Day will men proceed in companies sorted out, to be shown the deeds that they (had done).
9907 Then shall anyone who has done an atom's weight of good, see it!
9908 And anyone who has done an atom's weight of evil, shall see it.
How are these people going to be rewarded for their good deeds?
Thanks and have a nice day...
SAlaam born_again,
Whatever one does, he/she will be rewarded, at least, with the same, and in some cases multiplied depending on one's goal. So why would anyone do good deeds? If they do it for their own personal self benefit i.e. fame, reputation, fortune, etc then they sure will get a good reward in return but here only, in this world and history will even idolize them, but that's it. It will not be recognized in the Hereafter. The good reward will not extend to the Hereafter. In the Hereafter the reason for the good deed will be exposed and it will turn against that selfish individual.
BUT if the person is doing the good deeds for the better of mankind, with him/her even working in the shadow, preferring not to be under the spot light, is I think a great faith by itself. When one puts his himself/herself for the service of deserving and desperate others regardless of whatever reward he/she may or may not even get, imho, I believe that Allah would reward that person with the best, maybe, most certainly, not in this Dunya but surely in the Hereafter. I have no doubt in that. And there is something very characteristic of such individuals they rarely speak or show off and sometimes it is even hard to find them. You have to search for them. They usually hide from the public eye! -
Salaam All
Thank you for your responses.

That's what I think too and it's the reason I asked this question.

Thank you for clearing this out, it makes sense. But like Albino's example We have a trinitarian Pope John Paul even though I don't know much about him he looks like a good guy and on the other hand we have Osama or any other terrorist who believes in God being One. A terrorist is surely doomed to hell (though Allah knows best) but what about Pope? ? ? He's going to be punished for what he believed with eternal Hell?
Peace...

6409 - The day will come when He summons you to the Day of Summoning. That is the Day of Mutual Blaming. Anyone who believes in GOD and leads a righteous life, He will remit his sins, and will admit him into gardens with flowing streams. They abide therein forever. This is the greatest triumph.
6410 - As for those who disbelieve and reject our revelations, they are the dwellers of the Hellfire; they abide therein forever. What a miserable destiny!
6411 - Nothing happens to you except in accordance with GOD's will. Anyone who believes in GOD, He will guide his heart. GOD is fully aware of all things.Believing in God leads people to do good deeds. So we can say that our believe in God leads us to do good deeds for our fellow man. It leads us to respect one another and it leads us to find innerpeace by letting go of most 'earthy' things and have faith in Gods reward in the Hereafter.
People who don't believe in God and still do good deeds out of a good heart reject what God asks of us. They reject Gods rules and reject Him as a leader. Rejection of Gods existence and His messengers is also a sin. Rejecting God is only done by the devil.

Peace upon you,
I believe that those who reject the god the creator are rejecting their own existance, they are nullifying their own deeds. Thus, in the after-life, the god will not even look at them since they don't deserve it. They would not even be judged, directly to the fire. They are called "moujrimoun".
I think that they cease to exist.
And the god is the knowledgeable, the wise.

Here I think this verse will help answer your question.
"And others who have acknowledged their sins, they have mixed good work with bad. Perhaps God will pardon them. God is Forgiving, Merciful. " (9102)
As for people like Osama Bin Laden. I don't think these guys have a chance unless they repent. I say this because those who knowingly kill a believer are promised hell(493)
But to God is the final decision.
