Forum rules

Peace Wakas, Zenje, all,
while I acknowledge I should have provided the link of the post with the 16 insults, I am surprised you don't know who I was referring to, because, which user uses a lot of insults and personal remarks in his posts repeteadly apart from Genuine Islam/Shareef? I think none.
The link
http//www.free-minds.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3421In the other forum I was talking about, the system sends the mail automatically to the user who broke the rules. The moderator just has to type a few words, even one word is enough sometimes.
Placing these posts in Trash section doesn't solve anything in my opinion the threads are not closed, the discussion continues and the user repeats the bad words again and again.
-
peace Elena,
Firstly, I did not vote for any "trash" section. I feel the way you feel, if it is offensive, it should be deleted. I guess people thought offensive is subjective, thus preferred to "trash" it rather than delete it. Now they're complaining about trashing it. Perhaps we should have a pre-trash section, then if it is found trash-worthy we can upgrade (or rather, downgrade) it to proper "trash" status... (please note the sarcasm)
Secondly, I rarely, if ever, read non-constructive posts, hence me missing that post. I will delete it, and since you referenced it in your post I had to edit yours.
In the future, please forward it to us. Secondly, if one of the mods. thinks something is a bit uncertain on any decision, get a 2nd opinion before deleting. simple.

Paz (Spanish for peace) Zenje, everyone,
you have asked us today to inform you if we find examples of the rules being broken. Here you are a pearl, none of the mods have read it I supposse.
Rules numbers 1 and 2 broken

personally i think youre a fucking idiot!placed at http//www.free-minds.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3954&start=0
I have seen those rules broken many times, I complained before in this same thread but I never see those posts amended, removed or deleted or their authors exposed or banned. Yes, we the users can help but you too!
Maybe this forum need more mods. At www.englishforums.com where I act as a mod, no post with insults remain. It is easy, mods devote some time to check posts and that forum has 25,840 members and lots of anonymous users too, we are just 25 mods, and of course we are not always monitoring, and just 5-6 of us take a look regulary.
This forum has 931 members and 4 mods, and insults remain.
p.s. That said unless I didn't understand well due to my legendary problems with English language and "fucking idiot" means "you are great"

Peace Elena,
And thanks for pointing that out. I have written to Noah and deleted that line out.
This forum has 931 members and 4 mods, and insults remain.
I agree we should be more vigilant. At the same time, I think the number of mods on this board is sufficient. We may not function like other boards, but we try. I think a lot of the leniency has to do with our nature also.
Again thanks for the reminder, and peace be with you.

Salaam,
Elena you seems to be very sensitive.
I haven't read a single post that have surprised me at all.
And I like the word to be free because if it isn't then it is like we can't speak at all.
But of course we shouldn't be the one who begin to be rude but we all must have a chans to defend us against accusations.
Peace

Sis MajidahI was doing my "research" about abuse words in English since I was surprised you found ok the expression "fucking idiot" (you said you haven't read a single post that have surprised you at all) I though maybe I was wrong and it was not a big abuse.
I found that the non native English speakers use the swearwords off context, and withouth realising how they really sound to native English speakers. In the specific case of "fucking idiot" it seems it is usually replaced by "bloody" by native speakers at least in UK, but what matters is that I was confirmed the expression with "f" is very offensive.
That's all. Not very important but I felt like commenting.

I agree, the f word is offensive, especially when used in a community where there are different people...In a group of people who think alike/know each other well, the f word is not offensive at all if used by them all, it's like a manner of speaking and so loses the impact. At the same time, I think this should not be used at all. There are other more creative and less visually/acoustically offensive ways to get your point across. Though, a little off topic, but I always wanted to ask, is sa/mexican spanish very different from that spoken in spain? I wanted to learn it once but chose french instead...I heard it was more 'romantic'.

salaam Elena,
Of course I don't like the abuse words. But I don't read all threads everyday.
In Sweden we don't have so disgusting words like you're mother fucker, so awful to say like that.
Nearly in all american movies there are abuse words like that.

not extremely different.
The differences between the Spanish of Spain and Spanish of America, leaving apart the variety of accents --important and beautiful item, lie in different vocabulary to name some things; different grammar, for instance the conjugation of the imperative tense; different uses for the same tenses (past simple/present perfect); the voseo ('vos' instead of 't?/usted' = you) and some differences in pronuntiation of some letters (s/c; ll/y...)
In general terms I think Sp. of Spain and Sp. of America have more differences than British English and American English.
It is a very rich field, worth studying and exploring, and frequently a source of amusement because of the misunderstadings, there are words continually used in Spain with common meanings but in Argentina or Uruguay the same is a swearword. And not only this kind of embarrasing misunderstandings, also the same word with innocent meanings in both countries can lead you to lots of laughs.

but you did read this thread we are in, didn't you?
In Sweden we don't have so disgusting words
Beautiful language Swedish, I just know 'jag alskar dig' (I don't have the small circle in my keyboard) and 'hejda' .
I think it has a soft pleasant sound, even with those two accents in an only word. -
Peace Elena,
Thank you for explaining, yes it seems as if the differences not that trivial. I liked the part about swear words having common meanings in another place...I wish I was never in such a situation, but where I'm from, we have dialects e.g punjabi, sindhi, saraiki etc. Some innocent words in say, punjabi are understood by all who speak urdu and are considered offensive if used in conversation with people who speak pure urdu. This is just the 'vulgarity' of the dialect they assure me, and the connotations the word gives to them...so I do have to be careful choosing my words in the same country.

Peace Elena n all,
Just fyi... I just introduced some word censors on the board so that even if someone types some bad words, they will be not be shown or automatically changed.
As an example... check the post on this thread where you quoted someone...
I was doing my "research" about abuse words in English since I was surprised you found ok the expression "****ing idiot" (you said you haven't read a single post that have surprised you at all) I though maybe I was wrong and it was not a big abuse.
What do you think? )PS - I'm still working on it, so some words may still pass through. oops
