THE NEAR DEATH EXPERIENCES (NDE)
-
Hello All,
The phenomenon of ?Near Death Experiences? (commonly known as NDE?s) is not a modern phenomenon. It goes way back into the human antiquity. It is even recorded in the ancient Socratic Dialogues by the Greek philosopher, Plato. In modern times NDE?s have had been popularised Dr. Moody with his best selling book ?Life After Life?. Since then many doctors and scientist have taken a keen interest in this area of research and have come with some startling findings.
Modern medical advances and resuscitation techniques is making it possible for doctors to revive individuals who have been ?clinically dead? for many minutes and as result a increasing number of people are reporting that when they ?died? they travelled through a dark tunnel into an area of light where they felt the most amazing peace and security. There, they were met by a ?Benevolent and Loving? being who told them to go back because their life?s work was not done. Most NDE?s report, it was with great reluctance they left that place of unassailable happiness to return to their body.
The most interesting thing about the NDE experience is that majority share a common ?experience? regardless of their religious beliefs are cultural backgrounds. Even devout atheist has similar experiences. NDE?s say they ?die? and go to a place where they are met by a benevolent being or perhaps beings and then are given a non-judgemental review of their life and then is told to go back because they are needed on earth. The other interesting thing about those who experience NDE?s is that most lose their fear of death and embark on a major lifestyle changes and spiritual quest.
What does NDE tell us about the human condition? Are mystics right when they assert that God is Love since majority of NDE?s report that they encounter a Benevolent and a Loving being? How can we be sure of NDE is a valid experience and not a delusional state of the dying brain?
I would like to hear your comments on this matter?
Regards,

Peace,
Well I hadn?t given this much thought in years but over 30 years ago during a surgical procedure I had what is now known as a NDE. I had never heard of it when it happened to me. I was sunni at the time but I didn?t give any ?religious? connotation to my experience. I assumed that the PAIN was so great that it was a natural reaction of the brain and a mercy that I was no longer feeling it. I was above the table looking down and relieved. I didn?t see any lights until I ?returned? to my body. Lights were ?zooming? by sort of like comets with tails, then they all merged and formed a glowing brain and I heard a piercing buzzing sound and then I woke up. The glowing brain was what you would see represented in a medical diagram, a side view. As I said, I didn?t associate it with ?religion? but the nurse was startled by what she said was me speaking in a language she had never heard. I again assumed I had drifted into a sunni dikhr. Nothing changed in my life that I can associate with the NDE. I never thought I was near death, just in an enormous amount of pain. I?ll never forget the pain or the last scream before it happened. I am just not spooky by nature but by maintaining a sunni lifestyle I proved I am prone to superstition. Superstition is the driving force of religion.
BUT?a few years ago I experienced what many have described in their NDE?s but I was WIDE AWAKE and not alone in the room. I was taken on a journey down a dark well by two unseen guides to a light being (it seemed to be their habitat) who gave me a ?word? (no sound). It was transmitted to my ?heart? and I had a feeling of security and extreme confidence and well-being and then guided back. The word was actually a phrase that I was later able to translate as ?All your world? (French tous-tu-mund). At the time I kept saying it was nonsensical but I can?t explain how I knew it wasn?t. There are many parts to what happened to me but a witness later said I was glowing (the next day) and he was a little traumatized and didn?t mention it to me till days later. For days after I also had some sort of enhanced intuition. If anybody is interested or can shed some light on this I?ll give them the detailed version. LOL, all this from a not spooky person. I actually was very afraid I was losing my mind.
I re-live it regularly even after years and it changed my life. I say it changed my life because of it I was determined to perfect my prayers and become a better ?muslim?. Amazingly, this quest to perfect my ?prayers? bought me to true Islam and took me AWAY from the sunni ?RELIGION? and prayers and bought me to God alone with guidance in the reading alone (fil quraani wahdahu). I am on a mission now to understand the reading, to serve and promote for God. Perhaps one day I will know what it was that I experienced but I thank the one God for it. All my world has changed and I am ever so in awe of the reading and I?m free.

Dear Lote
If you do understand the meaning
of the valleys, witch i suggested to you
on the Yuksel forum, you would catch that
this "review of your life" is just but one small step
toward the optimum goal.Read thy book... (the Qur'an verse) is simply an indication
for that direction, a way of thinking.May pure light accompagny your searches.

It's strange, though I have never experienced a NDE I dont rule them out as being false. Everytime I have a good dream, and wake up and realize it was just a dream, I always think about ALLAH saying in the Quran that the world is just an illusion. Our existence may be just one long dream, while the real life is just around the corner.

The NDE phenomenon was popular
among young people 10 years ago,
because of some books and an american movie.
These days, ghost stories are coming back, and
chinese combatants fly in the air. Real life is not
a comic book made in a movie by Hollywood. The Scriptures provide a real Straight track, and
all those magic transitory things, they will pass away,
like Elvis, like the Beatles, and so many earthly fashions.
.
What remains is the force (jabarut) developped within us.
