Nuclear Bombs (8:60)?
-
salam everyone .
verse 860 .
Against them make ready your strength to the utmost of your power
including steeds of war to strike terror into (the hearts of) the enemies
of Allah and your enemies and others besides whom ye may not know
but whom Allah doth know. Whatever ye shall spend in the cause of
Allah shall be repaid unto you and ye shall not be treated unjustly.nothing strikes terror like the thought of nuclear bombs . so does this verse mean that we can make or possess nuclear/atomic bombs ? what do u guys think .
-
A nation under the system of God is allowed (even required) to have any and all weapons to protect itself. The line is drawn in who begins the agression.
peace Layth .
to protect ourselves we will use nuclear weapons by which thousands of innocents can die ? what do u think ? -
Peace,

That is an asumption which may or may not be correct based on the maturity and responsibility of the nation holding the nukes.
If we are speaking of an Islamic nation, then we would know for a fact that the moral guidelines and dicsipline would not permit the killing of non-combatants or that nuclear weapons would only be used in retaliation for a nuclear attack.

peace Layth .
i mean a nuke can destroy a small city . its not like an islamic nation would use nukes to destroy only a building or two of the enemies .
and what if the enamy nation would destroy a city of the islamic nation . should the islamic nation do the same in retaliation .and what do u think about disarming the enemy state of such weapons , if we fear attacks from them .

and what if the enamy nation would destroy a city of the islamic nation . should the islamic nation do the same in retaliation .Nukes 'tactical' can be used against massing armies who are about to attack.
Also, if a city of an Islamic nation is nuked, then by the law of the Scripture that nation has the right of equivalance (to nuke a city of the aggressor).
and what do u think about disarming the enemy state of such weapons , if we fear attacks from them .
If you can prove a 'clear & present danger' directed towards you (proof that would hold up in court) then you may use force to disable such a state only after making your case and intent clear to the offending nation.

peace Layth.
thats what i was asking . but by the law of the scripture the nation does not have the right to kill innocents . innocents nuked along with the rest of the city . innocent men ,women and children who had nothing to do with it . that would be great injustice with them .like in these verses
O believers! Be steadfast for the sake of Allah and bear true witness and let
not the enmity of a people incite you to do injustice; do justice; that is
nearer to piety. Fear Allah, surely Allah is fully aware of all your actions. (Koran 5"Fight in the way of God against those who fight against you, but begin not hostilities. Indeed God does not love transgressors (Koran 2192-193)."
i may sound strange by talking like we really possess some nukes or something , but i just had these question floating in my mind for sometime since there was a danger of war between nuclear neighbours Pakistan and India . thanks God the relations have improved now .

It is the law of equivalance. What appears to be the killing of innocents is actually a very effective way of ending a conflict (you killed 1,000 of our men, women, children, we killed 1,000 of an equivalant make-up...thus the killing will stop).
Not applying this law can lead to endless killing spree in the desire for each side to vindicate or revenge their dead.
"O you who believe, equivalent execution in warfare has been decreed for you in the case of mass killings; the free for the free, and the slave for the slave, and the female for the female. Whoever is forgiven anything by his brother, then it is to be followed with good deeds and kindness towards him; that is an alleviation from your Lord, and a mercy. Whoever transgresses after that, he will have a painful retribution. And through equivalent execution in warfare, you will be protecting life, O people of understanding, that you may be righteous. (The Message 2179-179)

hmm. it makes some sense . but still its very hard for me to accept the killing of innocents. i will think on it . and ask opinions of others too .

Peace,
I don't think we are allowed Nukes.
I forget the verse number, but I'm 90% sure there is a verse that forbids us from killing women and children AND destroying the land.
So, if it is indeed the case, then Nukes are not allowed.

A 'very effective way' is not necessarily the right way . it is like this the most effective way to prevent AIDS virus , is to kill all the infected ppl . but its not the right way . right ?

Speaking of AIDS virus, how did the humans get this virus in the first place?

Anwar AzimPossibly infection from chimpanzees/monkeys somewhere in West Africa in the 1950s. HIV itself is not deadly to chimps.

I apologize for bumping this old thread, but I'm curious about this.
