    Still can't find it ?

Why don't you find an online Qur'an and show me the verse you refer, maybe I can check. Also, what translation are you using?

      Salaam,

My opinion on this has also changed.

I think we shall only marry those who have same or similiar faith as ur self.

How else can a marriage be happy beyond all means!?

I don't want to be loved only for my look but also for the beauty of my soul.

      Peace Sis Maria

          Salaam Jaxal,

Well as always there are often exceptions and I haven't said that u can't love a person that isn't of same faith as u.

But I'm merely is talking about in long run, I mean u are always in love in the beginning but when the times comes and the couple will grow more deeply in their love it can be complications if u don't share the same beliefs. It doesn't matter if u are very patient because it must be hard to keep your own beliefs inside u the whole life to not hurt your spouse (

And everything has an individuell effect, what kind of person u are and same goes for your spouse.

          Peace Sis Maria

I know a lot of couple where the husband is of one religion and wife is of another. And they are happily married and in love. But you are right, each person reacts induvidually to this situation. I have no problem if my wife is a jew or a christian. I wont be marrying her for her religion, but becoz i want to spend my life with her.

              Salaam Jaxal,

I can't believe that people are on the surface with someone they are going to spend their life with, I want to be in the deep deep with my spouse.

I want to share everything with my spouse and I want him to do the same with me D

And the faith is very important because that is the mirror of your life.

              Peace Sis Maria

Its not about being with someone on the surface. The people i am talking about are really in love with their spouse. They dont cheat on each other or hide things from each other. I guess if you knew them then you would understand. As for the religion bit, well, when God says it is ok to marry them, who am i to go against that? People are so vile about the previous scriptures even tho it is from God. But as you said, each person has his own opinion about this. )

                  Salaam br Jaxal,

I don't blame or judge other people Jaxal, I speak from my own experience.

I have seen so many couples here in sweden end in divorce because they don't share the same beliefs.

And I have also experience from my marriage with a sunni.

And as I said before it's always lovely in the beginning but wait some years!

If I may ask - does that mean you wouldn't marry let's say a christian or a sunni again? Does he has to be God-alone?

                      Salam Majida,

                      i continue with warda...

even if he is "god alone", let me add - whatever that is - see on this forum, even the people labeling themselves god alone are not a homogenous group - and they are not always being tolerant of each other...

to be frank , i think you have too great expectations of love and marriage, which on one hand is beautilful, cause i know you're going through divorce right now and it means you're not bitter.

but life is a constant up and down which be try to balance as good as we can. any marriage will follow this same rule. the basic question is not what your believes are - but what you make of it in every day life.

Bye, guess i'll be back on monday to see your response

                      Elke

                        Salaam Warda and Elke,

                        No I won't marry a sunni or a christian.

If I ever will marry again it must be a man that respect me and share my beliefs well of course you cannot agree on everything but absolute not a sunni ,not again ,not once more.

Yes I'm going through a divorce now and I'm looking like a maniac after an apartment or just a room to stay in (

I must find myself again and be whole D

                        Take Care

                        Sis Maria

                          Salam Majidah,

                          No I won't marry a sunni or a christian.

You won't? This sounds like you are 100% sure that you will never marry a sunni or a christian.

I asked myself the same question I asked you and I came to the conclusion that I would prefer to marry a God-alone muslim or at least a liberal progressive muslim. But actually you never know what lifes bring you. I used to say that it doesn't matter what religion my partner has as long as we love each other and have a good relationship. Now I'm saying I'd prefer to go my spiritual path together with my partner, not alone. Share the feelings, the submission to God with my spouse. It would be easier thats for sure.

I know a couple where she is religious and he is atheist - and they have really bad trouble... .

As I said you never know but I can understand your point of view that you don't wanna have a sunni again.

                          Salam

                            Salaam Sis warda,

Yeah I'm really sure that I will not again marry a sunni, I rather stay alone the rest of my life.

Me and my sunni husband we have always loves eachother but love is not everything.

I must really have someone who wants to discuss Quran with me, that's the most important task for me.

My sunni husband nearly bother to open the Quran and he isn't open for any discussion.

Well he was in the beginning of our marriage when I was newly revert to Islam, then he liked to tell me many things and we discussed alot.

But after about 9-10 years of marriage I become older and wiser and started to search the truth on my own and when he noticed that I didn't need him anymore, the problems and fights begun.

So this year we are on our 15 years of marriage and i have asked of a divorce and he will give me that when I have found an own place to live.

So please don't tell me to marry a sunni again, that isn't something for me then I can stay with my husband.

I want something with my life and not live in a prison and slave in the kitchen all day long.

I want to be free and I'm longing for it so much so it hurts inside me.

Yeah I know i'm a weird and egoistic person, well u can say that but my life is my life.

                            FREEDOM!!!!

                            Peace Sis Maria

                              Dear Sis Maria,

I don't think that you are egoistic. Otherwise you wouldn't have spent 15 years with him and born and raised 5 kids. To raise five kids you just can't be egoistic. So I think that you worked quite a lot during the past few years and are longing for something else than kids, kitchen, cleaning. This is only human and normal.

I must really have someone who wants to discuss Quran with me, that's the most important task for me.

I understand you here very good 'cause this is what I am looking for too. Not only in terms of Quran but all in all it is important for me to gain in intellectuel experience with my partner.

                              I wish you good luck
