Malaysian who believe in Quran alone arrested
-
Peace be upon you,
What is the persons name? Those of us in safe areas such as U.S. need to do something about this. Is there some kind of link to this article on line?
-
Peace,
Oh my goodness, zenje...that is horrible. My heart hurts.
Is there, as idolfree suggested, anything we can do?
Sometimes I forget how little freedom people have in other parts of the world, even those that claim to have "Islamic laws." Here, the argument is over whether the 10 Commandments should be posted in a public building. That seems like such an embarrassingly stupid and trivial thing at the moment--even thought that is how intolerance takes root.I'm a bit in shock.

Salam.
I just saw in the local (Malaysia) news today that a man is arrested for not believing in hadith, ritual prayer and hajj. But they charge him on charges that he claims to be a rasool. It is very depressing.
Peace, gclandcp,
Please supply us with more details.

Salam All,
I saw it in last night news. This morning when I check it on the online news, I saw it in the Malay section at http//www.utusan.com.my/utusan/content.asp?y=2005&dt=0624&pub=Utusan_Malaysia&sec=Dalam_Negeri&pg=dn_08.htm
The topic for the news is EX ZOO EMPLOYERE CLAIM TO BE RASOOL ARRESTED
He is arrested by Islamic Department of Selangor (JAIS) at Kampung Kemensah, Hulu Klang Malaysia. His name is Abdul Kahar Ahmad Jalal, 55 years old. He also did not believe is ritual prayer and Hajj.
May be this guy is one of Free-Minds member because most of the Quran alone website believe in Hajj and ritual prayer. Only Free-Minds is the website who has a lot of members who did not believe in Hajj and ritual prayer.
Regards.

I'm here to talk about this issue too, We really need to help our brothers out there,I suggest that we come out with a petition and organize an online debates with them. In 1997 there was a case happened where people who don't believe in hadith arrested. But they sent a letter to the Prime Minister and his Deputy and challenge them to debate on this issue or bring it to the court.I will setup a website for it and try to get it on a local newspaper. Any Malaysian who want to help me. Please private message me.For the rest of you..I hope you guys can participate in the debate or discussion.

If you studies Quran. Ask yourself where on it mentioned about the 5 times a day ritual. Is god forgot to tell us in details about it till we need to come out with a lot of conclusions?
-
Salam,
I think he is not arrested because he claims to be rasool. He is arrested because he is teaching others not to believe in hadith, there are no ritual prayer in the Quran and no such thing as Hajj ritual. The rasool charges are only to make him look guiltier. But in TV, I saw him talking about the duty of messenger is just to deliver the message. Just like most of us here believe.

I think we should all do something to help our brother...
-
Peace,
The news site supply very little detail. If it were not for gclancp's words I would think this person is just another one that claims to be a messenger.
But even if he just did that, why would the Malaysian authorities arrest him? Perhaps our Malaysian brothers can explain the local laws invoked in this case, and past experience with unorthodox groups? For all I know, the Indonesian authorities sometimes crack down on unrthodox groups too--of which one case in the past includes a Qur'an-only group.

he claimed himself to be Rasool..Not Nabi..He said that Muhammad was the last Nabi but not Rasool. He ask ppl to believe in God alone and for that reason he is indirectly doing a job of a Rasool, to tell ppl about the truth. I don't think there is anything wrong with that. Its just that Sunni don't like it and feel annoyed with it.

Salaam all,
This is a very serious matter and I believe that we are duty bound to do something in aide of our Malaysian Brother.
For starters, we can start a petition at www.thepetitionsite.com and try to get as many people as possible to sign it. Other than that, I agree with another suggestion made here that we have a debate with the legal authorities and this debate should be in public eye. A very similar approach as this worked pretty well with a judge in Yemen when he held public debates with extremist muslims.
Another thing we MUST do is that once we have proven that there views are incorrect and their persecution of this brother is unwarranted, we must Demand that he be set free from their clutches and we must raise as much world-wide awareness of this situation as possible to get as much backing and support as we can and to pressure the Malaysian authorities.
Most people here have my e-mail address if they want to contact me and are ready to take action.
By the way, has anyone run this news by Layth, and what was his reaction to it??
Salaam,
Damon. -
Peace be upon you,
Brothers and Sisters, we have to do something. Lets imagine for a moment that it was US. We cant let this happen without some PEACEFUL resistance.
Those who are from that area, is it possible to get some addresses of people we can write or e-mail addresses at least?
Perhaps all of us in our different parts of the WORLD can contact our immediate government officials to see what processes might be set up to help us.

in my opinion....
Make a statement in USA and UK news paper under human rights violation and than through a challange to Malaysian religious authoriity to debate on public. May be FM can set up an forum dedicated to this debate. But It should go to the media and this is the chance of God alone ppl to claim their existence also.
create a page of this matter, make a report, publish it and than send the links to all Malaysian news papers.
The announcement of the challange should be also emailed to all malaysian news papers.
I am sure this will grab lot of attention....
peace

Salam All,
Yesterday I have some more information about the case from the newspaper dated Friday, June 24, 2005
LEADER OF DEVIANT SECT, TWO FOLLOWERS DETAINED
Kuala Lumpur The leader of a deviant sect who claimed to be a prophet was yesterday detained by officers of Selangor Islamic Religious Department.
Abdul Kahar Ahmad Jalal, 55, was detained in an operation conducted by 20 religious officers at his house in Kampung Kemenseh, Hulu Klang, near here about 1015am.
He was brought to the Melawati police station before being taken to the Gombak Religious Department.
Abdul Kahar had previously been arrested in 1991 and fined RM300.00 and jailed two months for not performing Friday prayer.
Also detained yesterday were two of his right-hand men, Mazli Mansor, in his 30s, and Razali Kasan, in his 20s, whose task was to distribute leaflets on Abdul Kahar?s teachings to the public and at government departments.
Mazli was picked up at his house in Puchong and Razali at his in USJ Subang Jaya.
The Selangor Fatwa Committee had in 1991 ruled the teachings of Abdul Kahar had deviated from the teachings of Islam.
State Islamic Affairs, Youth and Friendly Community Committee chairman Datuk Abdul Rahman Palil, Who took part in the operation against Abdul Kahar, said the arrest was made after five months of surveillance of the sect leader?s activities and movements by religious officers.
He said Abdul Kahar, the son of an imam who studied up to primary five, used his house as a centre to promote his deviationist movement which had attracted about 30 followers.
The group would meet at the house every Friday to discuss the teachings in the Quran instead of performing Friday prayers at a mosque.
Among the teaching preach by Abdul Kahar, which deviated from the teaching of Islam, were that it was not compulsory for Muslims to pray five times a day, the Quran was not a holy book, and the Hajj Pilgrimage in Mecca was not necessary because it could be done anywhere. ? Bernama
We can see even the paper want to make him look guiltier by writing that Abdul Kahar says the Quran was not Holy book. We can see from this article that if he did not believe the Quran is from God then why did they met every Friday to discuss the teaching of the Quran.
But anyway I hope someone who stays nearby will help us to confirm this news.
Regards
