Malaysian who believe in Quran alone arrested
-
Salaam all,
This is a very serious matter and I believe that we are duty bound to do something in aide of our Malaysian Brother.
For starters, we can start a petition at www.thepetitionsite.com and try to get as many people as possible to sign it. Other than that, I agree with another suggestion made here that we have a debate with the legal authorities and this debate should be in public eye. A very similar approach as this worked pretty well with a judge in Yemen when he held public debates with extremist muslims.
Another thing we MUST do is that once we have proven that there views are incorrect and their persecution of this brother is unwarranted, we must Demand that he be set free from their clutches and we must raise as much world-wide awareness of this situation as possible to get as much backing and support as we can and to pressure the Malaysian authorities.
Most people here have my e-mail address if they want to contact me and are ready to take action.
By the way, has anyone run this news by Layth, and what was his reaction to it??
Salaam,

Peace be upon you,
Brothers and Sisters, we have to do something. Lets imagine for a moment that it was US. We cant let this happen without some PEACEFUL resistance.
Those who are from that area, is it possible to get some addresses of people we can write or e-mail addresses at least?
Perhaps all of us in our different parts of the WORLD can contact our immediate government officials to see what processes might be set up to help us.

in my opinion....
Make a statement in USA and UK news paper under human rights violation and than through a challange to Malaysian religious authoriity to debate on public. May be FM can set up an forum dedicated to this debate. But It should go to the media and this is the chance of God alone ppl to claim their existence also.
create a page of this matter, make a report, publish it and than send the links to all Malaysian news papers.
The announcement of the challange should be also emailed to all malaysian news papers.
I am sure this will grab lot of attention....
peace

Salam All,
Yesterday I have some more information about the case from the newspaper dated Friday, June 24, 2005
LEADER OF DEVIANT SECT, TWO FOLLOWERS DETAINED
Kuala Lumpur The leader of a deviant sect who claimed to be a prophet was yesterday detained by officers of Selangor Islamic Religious Department.
Abdul Kahar Ahmad Jalal, 55, was detained in an operation conducted by 20 religious officers at his house in Kampung Kemenseh, Hulu Klang, near here about 1015am.
He was brought to the Melawati police station before being taken to the Gombak Religious Department.
Abdul Kahar had previously been arrested in 1991 and fined RM300.00 and jailed two months for not performing Friday prayer.
Also detained yesterday were two of his right-hand men, Mazli Mansor, in his 30s, and Razali Kasan, in his 20s, whose task was to distribute leaflets on Abdul Kahar?s teachings to the public and at government departments.
Mazli was picked up at his house in Puchong and Razali at his in USJ Subang Jaya.
The Selangor Fatwa Committee had in 1991 ruled the teachings of Abdul Kahar had deviated from the teachings of Islam.
State Islamic Affairs, Youth and Friendly Community Committee chairman Datuk Abdul Rahman Palil, Who took part in the operation against Abdul Kahar, said the arrest was made after five months of surveillance of the sect leader?s activities and movements by religious officers.
He said Abdul Kahar, the son of an imam who studied up to primary five, used his house as a centre to promote his deviationist movement which had attracted about 30 followers.
The group would meet at the house every Friday to discuss the teachings in the Quran instead of performing Friday prayers at a mosque.
Among the teaching preach by Abdul Kahar, which deviated from the teaching of Islam, were that it was not compulsory for Muslims to pray five times a day, the Quran was not a holy book, and the Hajj Pilgrimage in Mecca was not necessary because it could be done anywhere. ? Bernama
We can see even the paper want to make him look guiltier by writing that Abdul Kahar says the Quran was not Holy book. We can see from this article that if he did not believe the Quran is from God then why did they met every Friday to discuss the teaching of the Quran.
But anyway I hope someone who stays nearby will help us to confirm this news.
Regards
