'Islam' school text book for children ?
-
Dear Saladin,
You raised a very interesting issue.
An ?Islamic? school book must be based on reality in the World, no magic or superstition, the basic meaning of the message from God.
Bring God, and God?s teachings ?down to Earth?.
Etiquette according to the Qur?an is one important aspect to bring in.Interest comes with practical results. Also when teaching children it is important to ?find? solutions and results, not just read about it.
This really takes some pondering..................... ~0

Salaamun alaikum Saladin and Ali Omar,
The thing is, can there be such a thing as 'islamic studies' field anyway? What do u study in such a field, guys?
in pakistan we have 'islamiyaat' or 'deeniyaat' text books in schools that teach students about islam . it should be about our way of life . but the books usually have a lot of stuff from hadiths .
i think the books should also contain stories about the prophets from the koran . i have never seen any story of prophets except muhammad in those books .

Well there you go. 'islamic studies' is really Muhammadanism. The study of the history of the Arabian prophet Muhammad ibn Abdullah.
To me, the curriculum for 'islamic studies' should be outside the classroom. take the students on trips. get them to help generate income, to be given fully to the poor while reciting on them the ayaat of Allah. This would impress the ayaat into thier hearts far better than a conceptual study would.
thanks and peace.
