Salaam all,
But In Quran is nothing of an restriction of alcohol I meant it's not forbidden, but we should avoid it so it not effect our lives in a bad way.
One or two glasses of wine don't make me drunk! And I have my clear mind with me.

Peace,
Alcohol and marijuana are commonly used by many Britains, they can also be used safely by sensible people, the evidence is there.
People will never stop drinking therefore I think the best thing is to teach people how to drink to benefit and have a positive effect on lives.
If you drink it doesn't mean you have to have 3 bottles like Jaxal did! Thats insane!
People are divided on this issue and I respect that and have my way on this topic;
Individuals have different limits and some choose to abstain; this is a method in which you are sure that you will not get the bad effects but also you will not get the good effects. Many people debate whether there is any good, but let me clarify this, there is good if people see the good and enjoy the drink healthily no matter what you say! It's just sad that some people have never been around alcohol in a positive way rather they have had bad experiences.
I know it may seem that I love alcohol and see no harm, but thats wrong, I think there are many great harms in alcohol, the evidence is there in the number of liver disease and road deaths which cost EVERYONE. That is why in a community everybody must work together to promote a better way of drinking to drinkers and potential drinkers and understand that some people will always drink therefore it is necessary to do this because it effects everyone in a western country.
Anyway Jaxal it is interesting that you mention marijuana because crime rates in Amsterdam are low and marijuana does not cause problems like alcohol, there is much potential for marijuana in medicine and many doctors (leading doctor at Harvard) would definately recomend a joint after work to reduce stress!

Salaam Nural,
I agree with you until your comments about marijuana,
Everything you smoke is bad bad for your health, there are no single healthy thing to smoke something.Your destroyed lungs will shoke you to death one day.
I hate people who smoke because they dirty down my air, I'm very happy that restaurants in Sweden have hard rules where you can smoke or not.
The air is already so poisoned so why smoke and make it more dirty!?
Peace
Sis Majidah -
most instructions in the quran are an attempt to stop crime and social disorder at a very early stage, and help us not reach a point where we have to make a difficult decisions.
For example it is much easier to say no to the second glass of wine if you didn't have the first one. It's much easier to avoid that first glass if people know you don't drink. If you don't drink society is less likey to pressure you into say smoking or drugs. The decision tree and burden of responsibility becomes very small. It is much easier to stop yourself from drink then it is stop yourself from committing crime once alcohol is in your system.
It's a similiar thing with marriage, it is much easier to make the right decision by your partner if you are married. Outside marriage it is too tempting and easy to cheat or dump your partner on a whim.
Now I know married people cheat too - but most marriages these days
are setup after years of co-habbiting in a non-commital environment. If found the same thing with "lower the gaze" (which should be applied metaphorically aswell). It's easy to lower the gaze than to make eye contact - then flirt - then realise you have feelings - then feel confused because you have to decide between two people you think you love.
Remember how Giuliani cleaned up New York.
When Graffiti became unacceptable the much serious problems also disappeared.http//www.corante.com/newyork/archives/2005/07/07/a_tipping_point_for_new_york_city_parks.php

Peace SwedenMajidah,
I agree with you about smoke being bad and smelly, but the health benefits out weigh the bad in certain cases, a lot of the doctors promote smoking marijuana and wouldn't prevent it because they know that there are benefits.
Although smoking tobacco is very bad because people smoke it constantly, marijuana smokers, the moderate ones tend to use it less. Even medical users, they use it appropriately, like anything there will always be people who abuse them, but unlike alcohol, the body deals with THC, the active ingredient in a better way, and tolerance levels change to suit the user. Also marijuana changes the way the body works, and the effects of smoking marijuana are not entirely the same as smoking marijuana even though tobacco is used in the cigerattes, there just is not enough evidence for some of the claims being made.
Having said all this, I do not promote smoking or discourage smoking marijuana because I simply think there is much more research to do and I also think drugs should be legalised and individuals should have the choices of whether to use them or not. Crime rates would go down in my opinion and there would be less problems in my community and the global community. And I personally think in the case of marijuana there are many potential medical patients that would have a better quality of life. Check the bbc.co.uk/panorama for some examples.
If it is a great medicine for some then I think it should be legalised and not frowned upon.

well said burhan_21, i've always though that way,
that if you avoid somthing in the first place, you miss a lot of complications later,
at one point in my life, i was ready to drink alcohol, or smoke weed...but i always avoided it...and i know why now, i'm greatful for that thought.

Peace Nadia,
Well government sites have been against marijuana since the 1930's, basically there are many medicinal uses that were established for marijuana long ago and even the Queen Victoria was prescribed to help her period pains.
Plus there are Doctors that promote it, search 'Lester Grimspoon', either way there are different users, there are those who will use it recreationally and may abuse it and there are those that use it medicinally to relieve them of chronic pain from terminal illness or cancer treatment.
Interesting concern about the smoke, although smoke seems to be 'obviously' dangerous, there is no clear cut evidence that 'marijuana smoke' is as harmful as tobacco smoke because marijuana smokers that only smoke marijuana have less cases but the heavy marijuana smokers get bronchial problems. Marijuana and tobacco smoke have different effects on the body and there toxicities are different, this makes a big difference to how harmful a drug is. One way that this has been avoided by many medicinal users is by using a vaporiser which vaporises the cannabinoids at a lower temperature than it would actually burn.
I am a supporter of medicinal marijuana and also for the legalisation of marijuana especially when there are harder and more dangerous drugs legalised like Ketamin (if thats how it is spelt), and alcohol, and all the other harmful anti-depressants and depressants that harm you. When marijuana has been compared with over the counter drugs, it toxicity is one of the lowest and it is also more effective. There have been no fatal cases of overdoses, whereas there are many legal drugs which are abused and kill many people, but this one has hardly ever killed an individual directly in this manner.
I am also for the legalisation of all other drugs because they cause more problems when prohibited. But in the case of marijuana I think many people can benefit, especially the ones with chronic conditions. Alot of people seem to judge a drug on its affects, if you think the effects of marijuana are bad then maybe you don't know about prescribes Lithium and all these other toxic drugs that are legal but harmful.
