    Peace be upon you,

I havent read the article, but this reading indeed confirms that religion is man made. We have nnothing to do with those who join sects(religions).

I see no contradictions in those passages. The person who wrote these as contradictions assumes that each ayah is mutually exclusive and both cannot be true. By definition, a contradiction is something whereby if A is true, B cannot logically be true. This is not the case here.

      1. What was man created from, blood, clay, dust, or nothing?
-Well maybe we are made from clay, dust, blood, and a zygote. I personally think that the Q is talking about different stages of being. Ex. maybe human beings are descended from a primodial ancestor which was derived from clay/mud, although when we reproduce, a child starts with semen and an egg. As for creation out of nothing, that category is left for Isa and Adam, I understood.
      2. Is there or is there not compulsion in religion according to the Qur'an? -That is also not a contradiction since the second ayah is directed at people who were in direct conbat with Muhammad. Or at least that is what "history" tells us. So, we are not instructed to go and kill "disbelievers" if they don't believe, but if we are in war, then those who oppress can be killed.
      3. Who was the first Muslim? Muhammad? Abraham? Jacob? Moses?
-If I say "I love krispy kreme, when one opens in New York, I'll be the first one there," does it actually mean that I'll be the first one there or is it a way of saying that I'll be more than willing to go there b/c I am so glad that a krispy kreme has opened?
      4. Does Allah forgive or not forgive those who worship false gods?
-God forgives up until the point of death...this is something that is later explained in the Q.
      5. Are Allah's decrees changed or not?
-The same message was given to every nation, but some rules were different. Ex. there is an ongoing discussion about wether the Jews could eat pork...this is b/c God gives each civiliation some rules, while others may not have the same rules. However, the same message is given to everyone.
      6. Was Pharaoh killed or not killed by drowning?
-The first ayah says that he was saved in the body and the second says that he drowned. Both are true. He was killed, but his body was preserved.
      7. Is wine consumption good or bad?
-Why can't they all be true?

Anyway, I am sure others will add their insights about your situation. Belief is hard, but not as hard as actually doing what the Q says in everyday life.

        Salaamun alaikum,

One thing which I've noticed since dropping sunnism is that Islam-bashers NEED hadith and sunnah in order to uphold thier bashings. This includes the hadith and sunnah colourations over al-quraan when al-quraan's internal method isn't used to explain it.

        Take this example below

Allah forgiveth not that partners should be set up with Him; but He
forgiveth anything else, to whom He pleaseth; to set up partners with Allah
is to devise a sin Most heinous indeed," (44. Also 4116
The people of the Book ask thee to cause a book to descend to them
from heaven Indeed they asked Moses for an even greater (miracle), for they
said "Show us Allah in public," but they were dazed for their presumption,
with thunder and lightning. Yet they worshipped the calf even after clear
signs had come to them; even so we forgave them; and gave Moses manifest
        proofs of authority," (4153).

The only reason there's a contradiction is that these people are too lazy to go beyond translation. 4/153 uses the word 'afa' for 'forgive' and 4/48 uses the word 'ghafr'
(which does NOT mean 'forgive'). Because Sunnism treats the Quran so irreverently, it considers both terms to be exactly the same. Hence the contradiction.

There should be a campaign to call all these critics to the forum for a systematic debate which they should agree to publish on thier sites as well.

u know why is that people who arent practising muslims get everything while people who try to be good muslims dont really get the major things they want for e.g. good exam results etc .... i mean that just puts a person off even more .. he/she loses faith in God and from there you start losing faith in religion .. I dont know .. i m very confused right now ....
I stil remember back in school that this girl was a muslim but became a chrisitian cus she found the religion too hard to follow ... I dont know which religion is right ... Islam says that it is the perfect religion but what about the others .. its not anyones fault that one is hindu, jew etc ... they believe that their religion is the best and the right one so how can we sya that they will go to hell ....
hehehe everything is so confusing ..

Let any man belive that his relegion is the best there is, as long as he himself is convinced thereoff.

Personally, i dont give a "#?%% or a /&%?" about relegion. Relegion comes from the hands and minds of men! Spirituality is from God, and its for all to behold and marvel over.
To me Quran doesnt even represent a relegion at all, rather guidelines. Or as i often say to freinds asking for the same advise over...RTFM!

              Peace
              Noah

That would be superb. I think the members collectively could form an excellent challenge to any traditional so-called "scholar". I hope this happens in the near future.

I just thought, perhaps for a publicity coup, free-minds could challenge traditional scholars/authors worldwide to a debate. I'm sure that would get some attention.

that is like demanding evidence that it isnt. Neither is truely possible the nature of the subject given. However. God who knows all things, creates all things, who is closer to us than our jagular vein, does not have the power to educate each and every one of us individually, allthough were told that NOTHING troubles God. This mighty omnipotent being would rather have a fallible human write a book, that will be corrupted in one way or another, if not the text itself, then its meaning, than rely on Gods own skill to controll all matter. Apparently the omni potent God, developed his power to protect his book along th way, because he really did a piss poor job with the taurath and the bible, but with the Quran he promised it was it. Give me a break. These books are good guidleines, they are universal in nature, and i DO belive that they are devinely inspired in the sense that the truths in there always where and always will be truths. Its all the other cack thats been put around it, that turns me off. All the stuff that called relegion.

God gives each and everyone of us a change to become spiritual beings in direct contact with our creator, and not just that, but live with a feeling that we are indeed connected to the "mainframe". But sod spirituality we have a relegion!. And in our relegion you are alowed to wear funny hats, have ugly unhygeinic beards, and kiss pet rocks in arabia.

Relegion is but an empty shell we are told represents sprituality through rituals. So people bow down, kiss something, touch another thing or whatever as part of their pet rituals, and then they talk to themself a lot. Because as long as they dont go before God with a trait heart wanting to know the truth, be it whatever it may show to be, npomatter how hurtfull, nomatter what...well then all you are going to hear is the voice inside your head. that constant chatter in the cranium, and the definition of that chatter is called. EGO. So who's your god then?

.... i told my parents and they gave me the example of which came fisrt .. the egg or chicken and then they gave me the example of not being able to see air .. hehe

Thats all good. But we get something confused here afaic. God is real. actually there is NOTHING but God, and what God wills. God is the first the end, the be all end all, the alfa and the omega, it is the nemesis of this world and its true "saviour". Relegion has little or nothing to do with this concept, and is based purely on the use of mushrooms, toxic toads, sexism, penis worship, vagina worship, menstruation cyclys worship (the ark of the covenant, im NOT kidding) sun, moon, star, meteorite and vulcanic spirit worship.
And none if it has a damn thing to do with the way of God, nomatter whom claims so.

Get real...look around you. God is not listening. Everybody pray, the christians, jews, muslims, and it only geTs worse by the minute for all of us. This tells me 1 of two things. All these people do is worship the wrong god (there is only one, so if you dont get it right....no reply) or they are talking to themself a damn lot, and its not helping. And thats relegion for you! the willingness to accept a truth you have no way of confirming, except for the whole concept of "feel good" based on what we like to hear.
