peace,
The logic of the sign suggests the word for "silm" is "peace", because it would not be a weakness to call for "submission/surrender".
The only other time the exact same derivative ("silm" occurs is in 861, according to PRL.
Wakas
Thanks JM, and Wakas many thanks. For many days I was stuck up having reached this verse 4735, and 861 did not come to mind for the linkage of the verse and its plain understanding. Tabri had mentioned this but I just overlooked since he was talking with reference to abrogation and did not go back to see 861. If we put them together, everything is simple and straight forward without an iota of confusion or ambiguity.

You never placed hamza on Aleph. Now you have come to know that Aleph is never the part of Root. Now let me tell you that even if you place hamza on aleph that is not the part of the root of verb under discussion. Again consult elementary book of Arabic. Last word of the Root is Waw.
