Did Abraham clean a physical house,or a community???

And We have made the sanctuary to be a model for the people and a security. And they took the site of Abraham for the contact-method. And We had entrusted to Abraham and Ishmael ?You shall purify My sanctuary for those who visit, those who are devoted, and for those who kneel and prostrate.?SHAKIR And when We made the House a pilgrimage for men and a (place of) security, and Appoint for yourselves a place of prayer on the standing-place of Ibrahim. And We enjoined Ibrahim and Ismail saying Purify My House for those who visit (it) and those who abide (in it) for devotion and those who bow down (and) those who prostrate themselves.
I think it should have been something likethough.
(2125)And (remember) when we made The house of vying with one another for firmness for mankind and peace/safety and take from standing (of)Abraham the Discusser/trader and we covenanted with Abraham and Ishmael that they purify/make righteous my house (from idol worship) for those wanting to do good (that is trade with others/deal) and who devote themselves and those who humble the submitting.
What purity is Allah talking about lets us see,
Wa-ith bawwa/na li-ibraheemamakana albayti an la tushrik bee shay-an watahhirbaytiya liltta-ifeena waalqa-imeenawaalrrukkaAAi alssujoodi
Behold! We gave the site, to Abraham, of the (Sacred) House, (saying) "Associate not anything (in worship) with Me; and sanctify My House for those who compass it round, or stand up, or bow, or prostrate themselves (therein in prayer).from this verse and many others its about righteousness -or not doing idol worship,and nothing about keeping a building clean and fresh.
And as the comminuty wasn't built yet - its got to be idol worship which the people were doing?
Now the thing is they are told to clean it or make it righteous from idol worship before they build it or layed the foundations two ayah's later.

In it (were) verses/proofs read out/made manifest/communicated about the standing of Abraham and whoever enters it becomes secure and Allah has (a right) on the people to desire/to take it to heart The House who is able to it way/reason/understanding and who denies then verily Allah stands not in need of the worlds.Salaam and Gods Blessings.

To me The translation in the the ayah number 1 is correct and the translation of lanes is suggesting the same but the translation of the ayah number 2 (above)isn?t.
The house which Allah wants Abraham to clean/make righteous isn?t a building it?s the goings on of the people.

Again this is evident from the following ayahwhich has a few mistranslations to me.

And We have appointed to Abraham the location of the sanctuary ?Do not set up anyone with Me, and purify My sanctuary for those who will partake, and those who will enforce, and those who kneel and prostrate.?The word causing all the confusion is MAKAAN. This according to the quran (i think) isn?t a physical place-you check it.
And the example in the QD is
Ala-Makaan-atikum = Do what you can or act as best you can or remain where you are and do your worst.
It?s a way of doing and not a physical place/location.MAKAN=greatness/high rank/high standing/honourable place or position.

And (remember) when We showed Abraham the great way (of) the House that associate not with Me anything and cleanse/make righteous (idol free) My House e.t.cAllah is talking about the people and not a physical House.
