    Hi, im kinda new here.
First of all i would like to say that it has been hard for me. Everything that i have been taught since my birth has been wrong. wow. I never imagined it would be this hard. Even though i always doubted the hadith. I dont who to believe right now. Imagine how hard it would be to convert into a completely different faith. I thank free-minds.org for opening my eyes.

    Anyway, i have some questions
first, what is the Quran's ruling on Alcohol? I read the article. I'm kinda confused about whether alcohol is good or bad? im probably not gonna drink for a while(the drinking age in the US is 21 and i'm 16). I dont even wanna start drinking. but i wanna know.

second, Are dogs really not allowed in your homes?

third, if I eat something that has been cooked in oil in which Bacon(or something from a pig) was cooked. Is it Halal?

fourth, what is the deal with Salaat? how do I pray? I read the article. I am confused.

it'll be great if someone can answer these questions for me.

      SaLaM phoneix

      Alcohol is disallowed
      No, you can keep dogs
      Yes it is halal
Its personel. As long as your heart and mind are in the right place, you can pray however you want.

But search the forum and you will find more detailed answers.

        hi phoenix1,
        welcome.
Yeah, all it takes is some awareness of the truth, to break out of the system. its ignorance and irrational fear that holds one to crude beliefs.

And all the issues that u have asked have been discussed a lot in the forum. i guess u should try the search function. u will find loads of views on each subject. but i'd suggest stick to common sense and Quran. That should tell u whats right.

Confusion is no bad thing. Please see the story of Abraham for example (675-79).

The only reason traditionalists are not confused (generally speaking) is they have not studied what they follow. Furthermore, they prefer to get everything on a plate so no thought is required. No thought = no confusion.

To answer your questions, this resource may help www.studyquran.co.uk

And here's a little tip, whatever you hear/read/see, 1736 it.

And do not follow what you have no knowledge of. Truly, the hearing, the sight and the heart - all will be questioned of this.

            Wakas

All information is correct to the best of my knowledge only and thus should not be taken as a fact. One should always seek knowledge and verify for themselves when possible: 17:36, 20:114, 35:28, 49:6, 58:11.
