Eh? I guess the actions are what you make out to be. I thought in some Muslim countries, the males kiss each other hello and goodbye. Do they get turned on by that? Is kissing so bad? lol In regards to a lady, I guess if you are respecting her in your decent treament with her, you are respecting God as well.

                      peace,

Sadly, people have began to use the banner of 'quran alone' to legitimise thier opinion. While it's true that al-quraan has quantitatively less rules than sunnism, its rebellion against these liberal notions is pretty clear. Therefore the 'quran alone' preached by some is nothing more than secularism in disguise. Interesting malaise, I never saw this in the early days but these days, its common. The good thing is, we can always refer to the book itself. That never fails and people who project false opinions will be exposed. The lack of verse-quoting in this thread is a clear proof of this irreverence.

                      True.

All information is correct to the best of my knowledge only and thus should not be taken as a fact. One should always seek knowledge and verify for themselves when possible: 17:36, 20:114, 35:28, 49:6, 58:11.

Does this mean its ok for married couples to hold hands and kiss in public?
Keeping in mind that married couples do get intimate.

Haha, a clumsy kiss is cute for me! Makes it sweeter if the couple had set an intimate time off to guide along each other.

                              As Salaam Alaikum Mquran,

Very correct. So true, so true! This is why I am really uneasy when I talk to some non-hadith poeple. Some folks want to be "secular".

And along with that, it seems that many are adapting "God alone" to runwaway from the hadiths and all of the traditional stuff... not to discover what Islam really is... and yes, Islam does have it's set of rules, and stuff like that. It's hard to explain what I am trying to say... but I think much of the learning stops once someone decalre "no more hadith".... they don't move on to just learning Quran. They stop in the middle.

                              salaam

                                Salaam NP,

You explained it clearly enough for me. The part I underlined in your post , that's the part which I think is pivotal.

A senior student of al-quraan once told me that he feared that when hadith and sunnah is wiped from a person's mind, it will leave a tremendous vacuum (because hadith and sunnah are widespread socio-cultural bonding elements too for 1 billion people). It tends to be empty on many levels once you leave traditional 'islam'. His fear is justified because some former sunnis, after seeing the truth of hadith and sunnah instead turn to a bigger , more malevolent false god Firaun. This false god currently runs the world and can choose when to drop daisy-cutters on people he has never met. Such is his power.

Instead of discovering what Islam really is, an existential fact in the universe. Al-quraan becomes to them something to manipulate in order to justify thier views. You need to read books by 'islamic democrats' like Abdul Aziz Sachedina. The man readily MISQUOTES verses to justify his views. Its really sad to see, but this is our struggle.

Its heartening to see a young person understanding where older ones cannot. It gives hope for the future.

I totally agree. I held this view for some time. I note how some people may reject certain rules that the scripture has not promoted, but they know nothing more. The quran is as alien to them as it was beforehand.

Its heartening to see a young person understanding where older ones cannot.

Isa has shown us that knowledge is not a monopoly of the older people .

                                    As Salaam Alaikum,

I'm really glad to read the above!!

I think that we should create a new site now. lol.

Though this one is good, it only debates the views of others.

We should now just teach Islam, and not worry about what others think. Tell them, what's in the Quran.

I think too many of us only know the views of a debate that's popular. We need to learn it all, and not just to debate others. Learn it for ourselves!

                                    salaam

                                      I agree.

I do think it is healthy to debate the arguments or premise put forth. To recieve criticism here and there, and more importantly know the feel of the reasoning through experience. In other words, live the quran.

Study the quran. With yourself or with others, but most likely with yourself. Others can probably question your conclusions better than you can.

Lend an ear to what others think. It may be helpful.
