Ladies - do you wear hijab?

Jaxal the BNP thing you said, you are scaring me now. True there are still honour killings going on and even in the uk. There is the one about the girl in bradford 3 , she forced into marriage and when she came back here she wanted to get out of it so her uncles and brothers ran over her in their car about 6 times(but iv'e heard it was8 times). Then there was another family in bradford who had a daughter (with her own mind and views on forced marriage) so her family including mum and dad chopped her up and kept in a very large freezer(the type you have at the butchers that opens on the top).
Others just take their girls to pakistan and bump them off there. -

As a side note, al-quran does not use "hijab" the way it is being used here, in fact, it is not even an item of clothing in al-quran. By using it as such, one is only perpetuating the myth.
Women can wear a veil if they wish, but the best garment is the garment of righteousness according to al-quran. So according to al-quran itself, if one were to list an order of importance, it would be righteousness first. Something to think about.
Please remember though, most Muslims have not actually read the book (in a language they understand) that they claim to follow, i.e. al-quran. And conjecture is no substitute for the truth.

I saw a tv show once, where a reporter was asking muslims coming from jumma what the last sentence from al-fathiha meant in their language. Not one was able to answer. the classic answer comes from a Hafiz-Quran, "I don't know what it means, I just memorise it". Finally an arab dude saves the day and answers the question.

And people wonder why "Muslims" are in the state there in.

Where in the world do women have full freedom of what to wear and how to wear it? Women are always under pressure from either tradition or fashion. I cannot blame those girls who wear hijab with tight skirts, etc. They have to deal with the pressure coming from both places, their families and their peers.

sorry np, I think you misunderstood what I was saying.
I was commenting on trend I've have seen among young muslim. I wasn't generalising or proclaimg "we are better than them".you are right also, the superiority complex is on both sides, as God says in his book, every community rejoices in what it has been given and think they are better than the other.
I'm have been critical of this forum on many occassions.
I beleive Hijab can also be liberating and a sign of progression, but it depends on what your motive is .... and thats a seperate discussion.

I call it hijab, just becuase people will know what i am talking about. I can of course say khimar if I wanted to use Quranic literuate... and no, I am not down with that whole "well a khimar can be this and this" .
I do believe that women were covering their heads with a khimar back then (please note how I didn't say I believe they were commanded to cover their heads). I can point to the use of the word "jilbab", a garment that covers the body, to further my argument. But what the heck I don't know arabic anyway, just some words, so i won't act like a scholar. lol
Good point on righteousness. It upsets me how people don't get the concept of righteousness.

In uk & uae, I see so many girls who'll wear the hijab, but then have the tightest jeans or skimpiest top they can find. What's the point. I'm seeing this trend more and more in the uk among younger generation.
luckly for them I'm usally in a rush otherwise I'd stop and ask them.

OMG! That is sooo true! I know a couple of girls who wear capri pants, short tops, spaghetti straps, and a huge hijab on! It's like, why bother??? ?

i think hijab , (covering head with scarf) looks cool i mean luk at these girls in hijab i think they luk very cute in it ,
well i doubt they are being forced to wear hijab i mean wht da heck they are just too young to too rebel or too feel forced to wear or something,i think it doesnt matter because as their age passes by the hijab will be become a permenent garment for them n then they wont have any problem.
i do have a problem with totally black burkha , n i specially have a problem with niqab ( covering ur face also ) -

Yes, you have to get them started early on this so they don't rebel later and show their hair to someone. ?

well i doubt they are being forced to wear hijab i mean wht da heck they are just too young to too rebel or too feel forced to wear or something,Its becoz they are children that they look ''cute'', and not necessarily becoz they are covered with head cover.
Have u seen a child without hijab and felt she would only look cute with one?Children are children. They are innocent. Girls and boys alike. I think hijab for female children is taking it a bit too far.

Yes, you have to get them started early on this so they don't rebel later and show their hair to someone. ?Propably they would also prefer teaching/training their female children how inferior they are to men, and how submissive they should remain to men. So that these girls dont ever dare to be independent or feel worthy or feel equal.
Its sad there is so much gender bias which starts as early as the birth of a child. (Peace!

Has it not occured to you that maybe those little kids are only wearing hijabs on their heads becuase it may be a special occasion??????
For instance, personally, becuas I know that a hijab is about sex, modesty, etc, and one has to be aware of their body when wearing i will forbid my daughters from wearing it until they come of a certain age... BUT when they go to the mosque, Eid, or whatever other Muslim event I would allow them to wear it. Special occasions, certian circumstances. I think that it's cute.
Among women it's a symbol of modesty.
Among children it's just a symbol of identity.
