    As Salaam Alaikum,

I would like to know who believes that that Quran was written down years later fter the Prophet's death.

Sunnis will have you believe that the Quran was only recited for years, but yet protected. They use this argument as to why we must follow hadith aswell ("well if you have a problem with hadiht and how it was word of mouth, then why don't you have a problem with Quran since it was only recited for years and not written?")

But yet, I have much reason, from the Quran itself, to not believe what they are saying.

The reason is because Allah constantly refers to the Quran as a BOOK (you READ books).

    And then read this verse

    Surah 7204

    When the Qur-an is read
    Listen to it with attention,
    And hold your peace
    That ye may recieve Mercy.

What the? You can't read what people are "reciting" (hearing it being recited is not reading).

Obviously the person who is reciting the Quran is READING the Quran (though after much practice they can just recite and not have to read... but Allah is clearly talking about those who are READING the Quran).

BUt NOOO.... Sunnis will have you believe that the Quran wasn't even written down until years after the Prophet's death. Some claim that some King ordered it becuase all of the Hafiz's (people who memorised the quran) were being killed, and if they were all killed then no one would know the Quran.

So who believes this (the QUran wasn't written until years later)?

For those who don't, do you believe that such claims are just more lies about Allah (swt), the Prophet (pbuh), and the Quran?

Did you ever believe it (the Quran wasn't written down until years later)? What changed your mind?

    salaam

        Peace NP,

I never believed that quran was compiled years after the messenger's death.

        This might help also...

        Chapter 73

        1. O you cloaked one.
        2. Stand the night except for a little.
        3. Half of it, or a little less than that.
        4. Or a little more, and arrange the Quran in its arrangement.

        Peace

          zenje,

Uhhh... in urha 734 it says

Or a little more; and recite the Quran in slow, measure rhytmic tones.

          salaam ?

            Peace

Take a look at ayatin 1037-38, 255-6 where the rasool is accused of writing fabrications.

              Peace be upon you,

Universal Law(al kitaab) is revealed to prophets, it is the signs in the horizons and within our spirits that we "read".

                Salaamun alaikum,

Al-quraan is very clear on this point

By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instructionTherefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance
(It is) in pages held (greatly) in honour,
Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy,Written) by the hands of scribes-Honourable and Pious and Just.
                (80/11-16)

The idea that Muhammad ibn Abdulllah would know of these ayaat and keep al-quraan on animals bones is appalling. Sadly, some of us choose to believe non-quranic information about itself, despite Allah's assertion. Whatever the case, Noprogressive's musing is clearly confirmed here.
