    As Salaam Alaikum

I have a question, do you believe that a woman can pray on her period or not?

How do you interpert surah 2222. When the verse is translated it says hatt the menses is a hurt and pollution, and that women should clean themselves and that's when they can have sex with thier husband's again.

Of course people take that same verse and say that is the reason why women can't pray on their periods, becuase in prayer we have to be pure/clean.

Ok, so what do you think of this? Can women or can they not pray on tehir menses?

    salaam

      peace,

Please use the search function of the forum, located at the top. I use it often.

All information is correct to the best of my knowledge only and thus should not be taken as a fact. One should always seek knowledge and verify for themselves when possible: 17:36, 20:114, 35:28, 49:6, 58:11.

        As Salaam Alaikum Wakas,

Sorry Wakas but that topic is different from my own. It is asking "DOes Allah love the woman who is on her period?"

I'm asking, can we make salat while on it.

        salaam

First of all there is no details of any prayer in the Reading. You have to choose what you follow what you do not. If you still want to pray like traditionalists do (which is a big contradiction for a Quranist) there's nothing wrong with praying on menses according to Quran.

In Zoroastrianism women were prohibited from praying during menses and that's where "imam"s stole the idea. wink

          http//www.avesta.org/zglos.html (GLOSSARY of Zoroastrian terms)

bi-namaz lit. 'without prayer', a term for women in menses.

            Peace np,

Prohibition of intercourse during menses has nothing to do with your other obligations and commitments to the God's way.

I don't believe in ritual 'namaz' or what someone has called "Arab gymnastics" - though I accept that people may do in a non-associating way any form of physical devotion that they want; but there's little point in the physical motions in any case.

As for fasting - any days can be substituted for the set ones without penalty. If your menses affects you in adverse ways then you could put those days to one side in exchange for others; but if it does not affect you physically then there is no problem with fasting just because you have your menses.

There's quite alot of previous discussion on these things.

            Regards.
