Stop Praying Until I know How?

Do the technicalities realy matter? Will you be ignored if your wording is not right? I think what is in your heart matters more than what comes out of your mouth during any kind of prayer.

Prayers has been so much corrupted by these Imams that there is no way of find how actully Prophet Muhammad (SAW) prayed. I don't pray regularly but try to keep my prayers the traditional Sunnis ways. God will judge me for my intentions not the actions.

I don't think it matters what language or ritual you use, how often or in which direction, as much as it matter that you do at least take a moment now and then to meditate on the wonders of existence, give a little thanks and offer up good wishes for others. Isn't that what it's all about? I never understood the "ritual" of prayer. I would think that after a while it would all become habit instead of actual prayer. Maybe not, I don't really know, but I can easily see myself just going through the motions with that stuff. In fact that is exactly what I did even as a child. I know all my "prayers" and can still recite my old churches basic sunday service, even the Latin, but that does not mean I FELL it as I do when I just decide to be with the creator.

I wash and rub myself as 5/6 commands, then read al-quraan and focus on my covenant with Allah. I also speak to Him. This works for me and for those who utilise a ritual, I would ask you the same thing, does your act keep on the track to Allah? If it does, well and good.

My salaam,Noprogressive,as i came in this forum,i saw different oppinions,i was shocked for a while to know that they are people who follow Quran only but yet they don
t pray,this was really weird to me at first.I used to do the whole ritualistic prayer 5 times a day,until i started praying 3 times a day,but i felt that something was wrong if 2238,is translated as a middle prayer,why would Allah let us guess what it is dhur or maghrib......so even tho i dont speak arabic i decided to go with my logic,so it must be most excellent prayer,or the best prayer.I started asking myself questions if salaat was a ritualistic prayer that we must celebrate 5 times or three times a day,than how come you wont find no details about it in the quran like what to say wen standing or what to say wen bowing,or what to say wen falling down on prostration.....even tho Allah gives us details about wudhu(443;56),so did Allah forgive to give you details about you ritualistic prayer???But what i do instead,is that i read quran at dawn and at sunset till night.Try to go with your logic,u make ur ritualistic prayer in arabic without even knowing what you are saying well if you are not arab,so therefore,u are not respecting Allah wen He tells you to know what you are saying 443.I feel like im more of a believer if i read Al Quran and practice it in my everyday life,like that im more sure that i can respect my convenant.I have a couple of my friends who follow quran only,but yet they pray 5 times i personally dont understand that concept anymore,because its not about how much ritualistic prayer you do a day,because even the worst of the so called muslims,they pray 15 times a day,including the naffles........but yet they do a have a problem,look at their condition.So in my humble oppinion its not about ritualistic prayers,but about you respecting your convenant.My salaam to you all. -
ok so the main gist of the argument is that the tradiitional way of prayers is all made up but one thing which doenst make sense to me is why then are we asked to wash our face, hands etc ??? If there are no prayers like we do nowadays then whats the point of ablution ?

Advice I would offer is that the appearence is not so important, rather the intent is, whatever form of prayer brings you closer to God, then so be it, if it makes you closer to God, then how can it be wrong?
For me, when I do my art, I feel closest to God, for in it I have forgotten of the island that is my self, all is one. To me thats speaking and listening to God, when I do not do my art I notice the difference, I become closer to the stone and farther from the water that is to gush forth. Seek first the intent.
I may not be able to draw the face as the eyes see, but I will draw it as the heart sees it. Likewise, speak to God with your heart and it will be heared, words of the lips reach only the ears of men and the action reaches only mans eyes, if you do it for God then God will reward you, if you do it for man, then with man lies your reward.
