Who Created God?
-
I hope Allah will forgive me for discussing this. I never doubt about Allah, however I believe question like this do come to everyones mind and I had experiances where people ask question like this in nature. Hence I would like to ask how people out there will respond to this sort of thought and/or question.
Peace.

The ideas of beginnings and endings to not apply to God as far as I am aware. He is not created nor has He a beginning. You may describe him as the source, the beginning of all else, but He has never began.
He begets not nor is he begotten.
Never was there a period when God was not.

Salam alaikum,
Believers say that Allah has no beginning or end. Essentially, Allah created creation. He created existence, logic, mind and all these things.
To see God with immortal (and created) eyes and think that everything (including God) must have originated from something is incorrect. We cannot apply our own laws to Allah. Like the question of "Can God create a boulder so heavy that He could not lift it?"
You can also see it in the ENDLESS arguments over the idea of God. People will argue until they run out of breath as to whether there is actually a God. There will never be a conclusion to this argument. There is no undeniable proof of Him, which is why we call it "faith" and "belief" ... these thoughts can be held without evidence.
This shows you that Allah is actually very far from our comprehension. We cannot even think of Him. And He is actually not even a HE! Far, far, far beyond anything we can comprehend.
Just wanted to mention, much more on this question can be found by Google, even though it will be mostly Christian material, it is worth reading.

i agree with Leena,
We, as humans, are bound by what we percieve in this world. Everything in our world is born and has an end. Everything is created by something. So when we think of God, we think of Him through the laws of our universe (which he created). And that's also why people make God seem human. So God wasn't created, so was he there forever? and the answer to that is that for God, there is no "forever." Time is part of our world. It doesn't apply to God. That's my understanding. -
Hi everyone,
This is my logic as to why god is infinit in both time and space.
I ask, was there a beginning? Let's presume so. Then we'll have to ask ourselves, what was before the beginning? Assuming that nothing begets nothing, we must say that there must've been something before that beginning. Then that something in itself becomes the beginning. And again assuming that nothing begets nothing, we can say that the something before that something before that beginning, becomes the beginning itself.
And we can continue this way infinitly. I can sum it so
There is no end to the beginning. Thus infinty.
Then if we say that god was created in the beginning, then god was created infinitly long ago. Thus God is infinit.
I hope you follow me. I'm not much of a philosopher at this age, but I'm trying.
Nadeem.

peace,
If you work backwards and ask who/what created God, then one can ask who created the one/thing that created the God and so on.... through infinity, until you get to the "uncaused cause". This "uncaused cause" is special, lying outwith the mould/law/creation, and this is commonly called "God".

Salam
The question is ok to ask, as long as sarcasm is not part of it, and as Joe showed the answer it seems to me that Allah knew that the Question will be raised by many so He answered it in the Qurtan, the whole sura 112 is the answer.
also what Leena stated is very logical to comprehend that the laws of life and death that were created by Allah can not be applied on Him because simply He created them

Salam alaikum,
If God is energy that would mean a few things that I disagree with. First, that God was once weaker than He is now, or that His power has degrees of which He can grow to/from. That would mean that his power is not infinite and that He could be "weaker" and "stronger" than Himself at certain times.
Second, that He was created "by" a spark. You don't have to wonder about where the spark came from if you think that God was not the result of a spark, but God was the spark. God created energy, He can not, at the same time, be energy.
-
I believe the creator to be that energy that exists in all things. That energy that physisits cannot account for. When you add up all of creation, the total is greater then the sum. In that "extra", tied to all things, existing within us all and carried on beyond death, lies the creator. Without creation the creator dies. I don't see it as a energy that becomes more or less powerful, just energy transfered. With our growth (I am not talking of the human plane here) the creator grows WITHIN us
-
Salam,
I know you aren't Muslim, but the belief that "without creation, the creator dies" is unacceptable from an "Islamic" standpoint. It goes against the idea of an everlasting, eternal and actually not bound by time God. I suppose in your beliefs, God can die, but I dont believe that. -)
Unless you just mean that without a creation, God cannot be called "Creator" -- until he creates something.
Kind of like in math, a line has no beginning or end and is infinite. One might wonder "where does the line begin" but it actually doesn't. I think your idea is similar to a segment, with a definite beginning and end, and finite length. Right?
-
I don't believe the creator will ever die, as I don't believe the creation will ever disappear. I guess I should also say that I believe EVERYTHING that exist, both known and unknown, here and beyond our understanding out od our reach is all part of creation and all tied together. A giant chain of energy.
All is one and that one is the creator
