The working house? what is that?

That didn't come out right, sorry. I used 'working' here to mean something functional.

One thing to keep in mind was that Abraham was in Bekaa which is in modern day Lebanon.

            NoProgressive

believes that hajj is in Israel... of course most Muslims believe that hajj takes place in SAudi Arabia.

my dad actually takes people to SA for hajj, so it'd be like "wow all of that is just a lie" i guess... i dunno.

Anyways... where do u believe hajj is suppose to take place?

HAJJ take place in ones heart.

Israel or Saudia! how you pray! how to salat!
in physical form it doesnt matter but what matter is WHAT IS INSIDE YOUR HEART.

most muslim pray 5 times, some 2 and some 3 times. The number of times doesnt matter WHAT MATTER HERE IS AGAIN WHAT IS INSIDE YOUR HEART

what is inside the heart has nothing to do with anyone except Allah. Whom am i or anyone to say, this is right, that is wrong.

If one is mature enough to come n mention at FM.org or any other place. I think hes mature enough to find the truth himself. That truth you pass to next generation. will they just follow ? NO they vil try to find the truth themselves.

What is the TRUTH ? The truth is inside your heart, in other words its your belief.

            peace!

FM.org has no stated views on anything specific like HJJ

More correctly, an article on FM.org makes a case for HJJ being in Israel, that is all.

Please remember the important statement found at the top of the articles section

THE ARTICLES DO NOT REPRESENT THE VIEWS OF ALL FREE-MINDS MEMBERS. HOWEVER, THEY ARE POSTED FOR THEIR THOUGHT-PROVOKING CONTENT

All information is correct to the best of my knowledge only and thus should not be taken as a fact. One should always seek knowledge and verify for themselves when possible: 17:36, 20:114, 35:28, 49:6, 58:11.

                Hey guys,

I was referring to this verse in the Quran (396)

Transliteral "Inna awwala baytin wudiAAa lilnnasi lallathee bibakkata mubarakan wahudan lilAAalameena"

Literal "That (the) first House/Home was raised to the people, (is) which (E) (is) with (in) Bekka , blessed and guidance, to the creations altogether/(universes)."

Free-Minds "The first sanctuary established for the people is the one in Bakk'a, blessed, and a guidance for the worlds."

Yusuf Ali "The first House (of worship) appointed for men was that at Bakka"

                Where is Bekka?
                http//img380.imageshack.us/img380/4783/bekaa7uc.jpg
                http//img358.imageshack.us/img358/5936/lebanone6kr.gif
                http//img375.imageshack.us/img375/1951/lebanonrel20027hu.jpg

There were ancient towns there. According to this article even a Neolithic Era (c. 4000 - 2000 BC) town has been found in the area.
                http//img358.imageshack.us/img358/7162/beqaaancienttowns2nn.gif

The Old Testament does place Abraham close to the area but never has him passing through it, probably cause it skips everything about Ishmael with whom Abraham raised from the foundations the shrine as detailed in the Quran. Nevertheless, this is much more believable than what Islamic tradition would have us believe about Abraham traveling about 800 miles out of the way with Ishmael. Here are two maps to compare. The first is where the Bible tracks Abraham and the second also includes where Muslim tradition places him.
                http//img287.imageshack.us/img287/2987/abrahamsjourney3at.gif
                http//img287.imageshack.us/img287/3443/mapneogeo8wc.jpg

And here are some articles talking about why Mecca couldn't have been found by Abraham. Be careful though, the author is a bit venomous against Islam, nevertheless what he says cannot simply be disregarded for that reason.

                http//religionresearchinstitute.org/mecca/

edit added another map of Bakka

whats your criteria of choosing your version of history over the sunni version of history?

Question 2 in this first house in bakka, you will find 'maqaam ibrahim'. have you been inside this house?

I think Hajj can be anywere, it can also be on the internet. Haj is not a ritual, I think.

How can the Hajj be on the net? Have a read chapter 22, verse 26 onwards. Al-hajj happens in the real world.

I take the word 'real' to mean 'bil haqq'. Allah created the heavens and the earth 'bil haqq'. This is my reality. The internet can access the dimension of talk but not the 'real' world.

If I were to rephrase, I would say 'al-hajj happens in the physical world'. Perhaps that's more suitable.

Peace all. I view hajj as meaning 'discussion'. The true discussion is an attempt to come to truth or reality, and overturn illusion or falsehood.
Marlboro;i agree, the hajj and salat are within your heart, when your heart connects with reality you can know what these processes should achieve.(universal love,tolerance,open-mindedness and wisdom.)
                              Peace all.

"Blessed is the man whose strength is in you, in whose heart are the ways of them, who passing through the valley of Baca,
make it a well; the rain also fills the pools. They go from strength to strength?every one of them in Zion appears before God." Psalm 845-7

                                Compare with Quran

                                396-97
The first House (of worship) appointed for men was that at Bakka Full of blessing and of guidance for all kinds of beings

In it are Signs Manifest; (for example), the Station of Abraham; whoever enters it attains security; Pilgrimage thereto is a duty men owe to Allah,-

the holy city, that we suppost to make hajj in quran,is makkah ofcourse, thats why mohamed(pbuh) libareted it from idolatry, and now.its the house of allah! in isaiah in the bible,it says, a saint from paran will be followed by 10000 saints and will come to your house from mount paran and will bow down to you.
thats the taking of makkah,no doubt.
inshallah im going to get the proof later on.

The Hajj is to Holy Sanctuaries that we build in the name of God for them to be central points of the Quranic community. The location doesn't matter, as long as they are built in the name of God. We are to tak the example of Abraham in this. As for when. I have a hunch for 3 months during winter and spring. Meanings starting from the winter solstice and lasting for 3 months. I think that surah 106 will be the proof for this decision once I find a suitable alternative translation for quraish, which can be the Quraish but which should also have a more universal meaning. It is is the duminutive of qarash or qarsh.

                                      Godbless,
