Are miracles necessarily supernatural?
-
peace be upon you JK,
please try to understand that the stories in the Quran are there because they have a message. A lesson we can learn. They're not there because God wanted to prove to us that He can perform miracles. The miracle part of them is not important at all.Peace,
I think ultimately that's what people miss.
The book itself is amazing. That the God should reveal a book to humans is sign enough. Whether the book contains so-called miracles is irrelevant. Just like people may deny other signs, they can deny the God with or without the so-called miracles.
Those who are miraculists today are the same type of people who demanded them from the prophet. They cannot believe except if they see a miraculous thing.
Regards.

Personally I tend to agree with Truth and phoenix, but I allow for miracles. Although I don't consider them to be that important.

I agree with bro Andya. Miracles or supernaturals may be helpful to certain degree, but I don't view it as being the "proof" of being a sign of truth. If GOD wants me to believe in miracles and supernaturals, I don't have to use my mind to think and contemplate (well, the way I view it, miracles and supernaturals are not logical). But hey, that's just me. I'm not saying for certain that miracles don't exist okey? wink

I accept your logic 100%, but I hope it does not also mean that those history facts mentioned in the Quran did not happen for real?
we don't need to prove they are miracles of the past because we can easly see the miracles of the present in ourselves and all around us, so the miracle part of these stories is not really required for us, I agree

Peace be upon you all,
This message is about understanding our nature and correcting our behavior so we can be happy and successful. What in the hell does a real stick turning into a snake do for us? Does David Copperfield make you feel like doing good? Watching Wild Kingdom on the TV is enough of a "miracle" for me.
Look at the wild ideas we come up with to justify these superhero stories. Stop taking these stories literally and start understanding your own BEING.

Salam all,
Only GOD knows what we require or not. Remeber that Abraham although being a ratiuonal thinker who came to believe a GOD yet asked for a further sign/miracle to reassure his heart
Abraham said, "My Lord, show me how You revive the dead." He said, "Do you not believe?" He said, "Yes, but I wish to reassure my heart." He said, "Take four birds, study their marks, place a piece of each bird on top of a hill, then call them to you. They will come to you in a hurry. You should know that GOD is Almighty, Most Wise."
Thus every believer needs reassurance. Stating otherwise would be arrogant. Yes i agree those who deny GOD keep asking for miracles consistently and then continue to deny if they come. Thats the point. Nowehere does GOD say in the Quran that we are not allowed to ask for miracles and whats more important is that once we receive them we are to appreciate them. GOD Bless! -
Peace be upon you Jonny K
The story you gave to us is incorrectly translated.
It speaks of mans need for VERIFICATION. Very important word!
And what you need to realize is that the God does give VERIFICATION. Not with sticks truning into snakes, or numberically coded books, but by showing us that when we purify our thoughts and TRAIN THEM to respond to the call when we are at the crossroads of life, then we become AWAKE, not dead. Most people are sleep, allowing thought drift to continue and therby allowing indescriminate ideas of be planted in thier spirit.
There is nothing in this verses about killing birds, the birds were TRAINED, then each one placed on a mountain, then called and they responded due to the TRAINING.
The God is telling us that in order to awaken, TRAINING of our RESPONSES is necessary.
I started a thread in the salaat section about the 5 steps of every event, please read it to get more info.

JK- Sorry bro. I cant agree with you since the numerical miracle in Quran is obvious to me and many others. And the above verse is not incorrently translated. Thats exactly what it means, literally. Ofcourse if your bent on symbolism then you can just symbolize each and everything as you like without consistency whatsoever. GOD Bless!
