Calling ourselves children of Allah? I cannot find any verse
-
Salaam,
I have heard from many people that we are all sons and daughters of God (ie. children of God) But when I try to find a verse that supports this I find none. Only LOTS of verses claiming that ALLAH does not have sons or daughters!!!!
I will list a few here for your referrence (please note that this is not a complete list just a few verses)
17111 (Free-Minds) And Say "Praise be to God who has not taken a son, nor does He have a partner in sovereignty, nor does He have an ally out of weakness." And glorify Him greatly.
1657 (Maulana Ali) And they ascribe daughters to Allah. Glory be to Him! And for themselves is what they desire!
1068 (Free-Minds) They said "God has taken a son." Be He glorified! He is the Rich. To Him is what is in the heavens and what is in the Earth. Do you have proof for this? Or do you say about God what you do not know?
6100 (Free-Minds) And they made partners with God from among the Jinn, while He had created them. And they invented for Him sons and daughters without them having any knowledge! Be He glorified and far above what they describe. With this in mind I don't think it would be wise to call ourselves sons and daughters....or "children" of God.
Is it a christian thing to say "children of God?" is that where this is coming from? I don't know. Thoughts on this subject would be appreciated.
While we are on the subject I do see where we can call each other brothers/sisters in religion.....
911 (Free-Minds) If they repent, and they hold the contact-method, and they contribute towards betterment, then they are your brothers in the system. We explain the revelations for a people who know.not to mention that we could say we are all children of Adam... as indicated in these verses
726 (Free-Minds) O Children of Adam, We have sent down for you garments to cover your wickedness, as well as feathers; and the garment of righteousness is the best. That is from God's signs, perhaps they will remember.
731 (Free-Minds) O Children of Adam, dress nicely at every temple, and eat and drink and do not indulge; He does not like the indulgers. Thanks in advance for your input.

Peace Arnaab,
You're right, there is no mention in quran to support the statement that we are "children of God", infact only the opposite is true...
And the Jews and the Nazarenes said ?We are God?s children, and His loved ones.? Say ?Then why does He punish you for your sins?? No, you are merely humans from what He has created. He forgives whom He pleases, and He punishes whom He pleases. And to God is the sovereignty of heavens and Earth and all that is in-between, and to Him is the destiny.(518 FM)

In the New Testament...Jesus said in Matthew 59 "Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God"
Sounds like a contradiction to the Quran at first glance. But Jesus was known to speak in parables so I wouldn't really feel confortable claiming it is a contradiction but rather yet another parable. -
Peace to all
Jesus is a jew and he is speaking to the israelites, the terms "Sons Of God" is a translation of "benei Elohym"... in Hebrew culture and beliefs, the actual meanings ot "Sons" / "benei" is actually 'servants'... thus "Sons Of God" = "Servants Of God". In the OT u can read how Solomon, David, pious people and even the israelites which being enslaved in Egypt are called "My sons".
Allah knows best..
