Kafir is anyone who does not believe in Allah by rejectying his messages and warnings
being a muslim by name does not gurantee not being a kafir, the deeds done while being a believer in Allah and his messages is the only way to avoid hell

And the results were shocking, the kafir matched every item on that list.
Being a kafir doesn't depend one's "belief" but ones actions.
The only difference i found between psychopath and kafir is the aspect of "recovery", According to science a psychopath cannot recover. But according to the quran, a kafir will recover by doing good deeds.

When someone is called "Kafir" as a title/name, it usually means they are a non-believer. This is the common usage.
However, Quranically, it shows a range of meaning, from one who conceals/covers, one who is ungrateful, one who rejects, to one who is a non-believer.

Kaffer root word is "Kaffer" which translate "Cover".Kaffer is any one who rejects One or all Verses in God's Book (Quran, Bible, and Torah in there original Languages).
Saten was a believer of God existance, but became Kaffer when rejected God's Command (one command).

JK- It wasnt just because he rjected one command from GOD. It is exactly this simplistic approach which has given religious folk a bad name. The Quran details why he became a disgrace to GOD. It was because of his arrogance. He claimed that he was something better so he didnt wanna be of service to mankind right in the face of GOD. GOD Bless!

All four are related and there is overlap. There would be no difference in outcome when the attribute of kafir is done with/to God, but in other cases there would be practical differences, e.g. tiller of the soil is kafir which is nothing to do with religion as such.

Kufr... KFR.... K is the open palm of the hand... representing somenone who has been bent to the will of another..... F is the tent peg ... representing an addition.... R is the head of a man.... representing man.
Kufr means bending the will of man by addition. Kafir are those that bend the will of others by additions.

PeaceI agree, except for the rejection of one or all verses. I mean there are verses you do not understand, or verses you do not think of all the time, or others that you do not apply because they are not relevant to your case. Does it mean believing in the existance of those verses? If Believing is not to believe in the existence of God, why would believing in the existence of a verse or another becomes more important?
Also (related to the above), where are the other gospels in their original language? I do not think this is different from believing in the quraan and applying it, and that's sufficient. God copied all we need from the other scriptures into the qur'aan and made the rest forgotten by making them (or their language), forgotten, and replaced them with better ones and adding them to the quraan(Not a verse that We copy or make forgotten than We bring a similar or a better one).
IMO, kaffir is not someone who does not believe in the existence of God (nowhere in the quraan does God command us to believe in His existence). He states that He is the Lord of the worlds, of the people and of everything, no meaning of our testimony. Besides, God commands us to reflect and think. What if one's way of thinking lead them to not believe in the existence of a god? I believe it's about the commands of God (that's where I agree with you ;D). Believing in X is not believing in the existence of X.
Moreover, the quraan tells us that it contains every example. Does it contain an example of a good , just kafir? Don't we know of people who are, at least, agonistics, but are very good, honest and fair? I personally know two such people at least, and knew two more. -

That was exactly what I thought when I came to question the established definition of kafir. I think people really need to reflect upon the difference between "declaration of faith" and "practice of faith". One must appreciate how the former is of less significance than the latter, and that it makes no sense that violation of either should be punished equally (or punished at all when it comes to the former).

5720 KNOW that the life of this world is but a play and a passing delight, and a beautiful show, and your boastful vying with one another, and greed for more and more riches and children. Its parable is that of rain the herbage which it causes to grow delights the tillers of the soil; but then it withers, and thou canst see it turn yellow; and in the end it crumbles into dust. But in the life to come suffering severe, or God?s forgiveness and His goodly acceptance for the life of this world is nothing but an enjoyment of self-delusion.
This is the sole instance in the Qur?an where the participial noun kafir (in its plural form kuffar) has its original meaning of "tiller of the soil". For the etymology of this meaning, see note 4 on 74 10, where the term kafir (in the sense of "denier of the truth" appears for the first time in the sequence of Quranic revelation.(Quran Ref 5720 )
Since this is the earliest Qur'anic occurrence of the expression kafir (the above surah having been preceded only by the first five verses of surah 96), its use here - and, by implication, in the whole of the Qur?an - is obviously determined by the meaning which it had in the speech of the Arabs before the advent of the Prophet Muhammad in other words, the term kafir cannot be simply equated, as many Muslim theologians of post-classical times and practically all Western translators of the Qur?an have done, with "unbeliever" or "infidel" in the specific, restricted sense of one who rejects the system of doctrine and law promulgated in the Qur?an and amplified by the teachings of the Prophet - but must have a wider, more general meaning. This meaning is easily grasped when we bear in mind that the root verb of the participial noun kafir (and of the infinitive noun kufr) is kafara, "he covered " thus, in 5720 the tiller of the soil is called (without any pejorative implication) kafir, "one who covers", i.e., the sown seed with earth, just as the night is spoken of as having "covered" (kafara) the earth with darkness. Hence, in the usage of the Qur?an - with the exception of the one instance ((in 5720) where this participial noun signifies a "tiller of the soil" - a kafir is "one who denies the truth" in the widest, spiritual sense of this latter term that is, irrespective of whether it relates to a cognition of the supreme truth - namely, the existence of God - or to a doctrine or ordinance enunciated in the divine writ, or to a self-evident moral proposition, or to an acknowledgment of, and therefore gratitude for, favours received.
