    Peace 2Pac, all

As you know, when the god wishes something, he simply says "be" and it is becoming. Thus, all the things created are the god's words. All those words are then forming a book, which is the creation.

So, per my understanding of the scripture, "al-kitab" refers to the creation. Revealing "al-kitab" or the creation to the messengers and "intuiters", means showing them the creation as it is, without the blurriness caused by all the nonsense attached to it by the people (associators and rejecters). They would see things as they are, the reality, the truth.

This is the reason why all of the messengers and "intuiters" are receiving the same book (al-kitab), they have all seen the same creation as it is, unchanging.

I hope you get the picture wink

        That was beautifully said.
My views are similar as well.

        Peace!

Did you not see those who were given a portion of the Scripture, they believe in witchcraft and evil, and they say to those who disbelieved "You are better guided than those who believed the path."

nashibaan mina al-kitaabi = Portion/part of the scripture?
Did you not see those who were given a portion of the creation???

            Salaam all,

For me personally, Al-Kitab is both the one written as the Quran that you read everyday, and also the one that is "written" by GOD as the Universe in which we spend our mortal lives.

From my experience reading the Quran, I encounter many ayats which talk about nature/universe. This, I understand as GOD encourages us to use the written form of Al-Kitab by reading/studying/contemplating it to eventually appreciate and understand the other form of Al-Kitab, which is the Universe.

Thus, Al-Kitab represents The Truth As A Whole or Things As They Are (I'm not saying that everything in Quran should be understood literally). In 451, I understand it as the people who have only understand a part of The Truth, maybe because they feel content with what they already learned (966-7) or just downright lazy in studying (1075-7). That's why they still believe in withcrafts and say those things which are mentioned in that ayat. And GOD Knows best of course.

            Wasalaam,
            =adley=

              Salam all...

Maybe u should read "Tao The Ching" by a chinese named Lao Tse.

              Accept disgrace willingly.
Accept misfortune as the human condition.
What do you mean by "Accept disgrace willingly"?
              Accept being unimportant.
Do not be concerned with loss and gain.
This is called "accepting disgrace willingly".
What do you mean by "Accept misfortune as the human condition"?
Misfortune comes from having a body.
Without a body, how could there be misfortune?
              Surrender yourself humbly;
then you can be trusted to care for all things.
              Love the world as your own self;
then you can truly care for all things.

The greatest Virtue is to follow Tao and Tao alone.
The Tao is elusive and intangible.
Oh it is intangible and elusive, and yet within is image.
Oh it is elusive and intangible, and yet within is form.
Oh it is dim and dark, and yet within is essence.
This essence is very real, and therein lies faith.
From the very beginning until now its name has never been forgotten.
              Thus I perceive the creation.
How do I know the ways of creation?
              Because of this.

              The Tao is forever undefined.
Small though it is in the unformed state, it cannot be grasped.
If kings and lords could harness it, the ten thousand things would naturally obey.
Heaven and earth would come together and gentle rain fall.
Men would need no more instruction and all things would take their course.
Once the whole is divided, the parts need names.
              There are already enough names.
One must know when to stop.
Knowing when to stop averts trouble.
Tao in the world is like a river flowing home to the sea.

              Salam...

Yes, some people understand certain things in life but never connect it with the WHOLE, for example Christians promote right living, peace, etc but they will fight and argue anyone who is not christian, like Apple Pie, or like the "christians" who came to "save the poor Africans because they had no souls.

One cannot truly study chemistry if they only identify 3 elements.

Not part of creation. Part of universal laws.

Kyle, how do you view these verses below? 2/83-85 is the reference and of course you know what to do with 'regular prayer and regular charity'. I'm interester to see what you'd say to the part about 'do you then believe in part of AL-KITAAB and conceal a part' Does it imply that these commandments are in fact, al-kitaab? Your thoughts please?

And remember We took a covenant from the Children of Israel (to this effect) Worship none but God; treat with kindness your parents and kindred, and orphans and those in need; speak fair to the people; be steadfast in prayer; and practise regular charity. Then did ye turn back, except a few among you, and ye backslide (even now).
And remember We took your covenant (to this effect) Shed no blood amongst you, nor turn out your own people from your homes and this ye solemnly ratified, and to this ye can bear witness.
After this it is ye, the same people, who slay among yourselves, and banish a party of you from their homes; assist (Their enemies) against them, in guilt and rancour; and if they come to you as captives, ye ransom them, though it was not lawful for you to banish them. Then is it only a part of the Book that ye believe in, and do ye reject the rest? but what is the reward for those among you who behave like this but disgrace in this life?- and on the Day of Judgment they shall be consigned to the most grievous penalty. For God is not unmindful of what ye do

Well, if you're gonna make me wait that long, you better make it better than usual

                            D I'll try

(283-85) And when We took Israel's sons' promise/covenant, "Do not serve except The God, and with the parents a goodness and of the relations/near , and the orphans and the poorest of the poor/poor oppressed , and say to the people goodness, and maintain the programming and bring forth the purification." Then you turned away except (a) few from you and you are objecting/opposing. And when We took your promise/covenant, "Do not shed your blood and do not bring your spirits/minds out from "diyarikum", then you acknowledged/accepted and you (are) witnessing/testifying. Then you are those who you kill your spirits/minds and you force out a group/part from you, from "diyarihim", you cooperate/support on (against) them with the sin/crime and the transgression/injustice/aggression and if they come to you captives/prisoners you ransom them , and it is forbidden on you bringing/forcing them out. Do you believe with some/part (of) The Universal Law and you disbelieve with some/part? So but (what is the) reward/reimbursement (of) who does that from you, except shame/scandal/disgrace in the life the present/worldly life (on) and the Resurrection Day they be returned to the torture's strongest (severest), and The God (is) not with ignoring/disregarding on what you make/do.

MQ, my understanding is that there are many among mankind who have taken thier minds out of "diyarikum" (I would like to open a separate thread on that word so I can gain clarity), and therefore they begin to do that which they promised they would not do. The verse seems to break people up in GROUPS, which some groups oppress other groups and force thier "minds" out of the proper place (this "diyarikum" ).

So when they deal with people from thier own group, they act right, but with people from another group, they dont act right.

I would state that that the highest universal law is PEACE, then ONENESS.

Some obviously follow other laws in the universe but dont follow PEACE and ONENESS.

                              Ok. Diyarikum is 'their territory/homes'.

However, what I was hoping you'd comment on is why these elements are said to be 'al-kitaab' and that we must accept these in totality. I'm beginning to think that al-kitaab isn't laws of science (like 'fire burns') but rather laws governing the human being. However 6/38 contradicts me there. What do you think?

My understanding is that Universal Law deals with all laws, keeping in mind that LAW deals wih the relationships of one thing to the next. Fire only burns when there is something else to form a relationship. The verses in question show us some of the laws, I do not consider that an all inclusive list.

Please give me your opinion on that.

So the question has now become "What is the greatest universal law"?
It strikes me that this question has actually been answered by two Jewish individuals around 2000 years ago, Iash'ua (a.k.a Isa, Jesus) and Hillel.

Then one of the scribes having approached, having heard them debating, knowing that He answered them well, questioned Him, "Which is first commandment of all?" Then Jesus answered him, " first of all the commandments , 'Be hearing , O Israel! YHVH is our God, YHVH is one.' 'And you* will love the YHVH your God with your whole heart and with your whole soul and with your whole understanding and with your whole strength'-this the first commandment.

"And second similar to it, 'You will love your neighbor as yourself' -no other commandment is greater these." Then the scribe said to Him, "Well , Teacher! You have spoken in truth that He is one, and is not another besides Him. "And to be loving Him with the whole heart and with the whole understanding and with the whole soul and with the whole strength and to be loving one's neighbor as oneself is more all the whole burnt-offerings and the sacrifices." And Jesus, having seen him, that he answered wisely, said to him, "You are not far from the kingdom of God." And no one dared any longer to question Him.

                                  (Mark 1228-34)

It seems the jewish scribe is a member of Hillel's students / school of thought. (Mazhab Hillel ?). Quite similar to Jesus / Iash'ua, Hillel said
"The main idea of the Torah is 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' Everything else is commentary. Now, if you're really interested, go and study the commentary."
                                  And Hillel also said
"Be among the disciples of Aharon (arabic Harun), loving peace and pursuing peace, loving God's creatures, and bringing them close to the Torah."

It is surely not 'wise' to be a "Quran Alone(r)", Quran is a part of 'Al-Kitab", and I began to think that Quran is 'the key' to understand the true meaning of the other parts in the 'Al-Kitab' / earlier revelations.

                                  Salam / Peace

                                    Peace be upon you Jafar,

If you go BEYOND the reports of those jewish fellows 2000 years ago, you will find the reports that PEACE is the supreme law. Thats why everyone greets with PEACE, including Jesus reportedly.

You will also find other similarities if you go beyond those jewish fellows.

Salam / Peace / Shalom Idolfree

Maybe it's time for "Taosophy" to kicks in...

How can you define "Peace" when there's no "War".
How can you define "Good" when there's no "Evil".
How can you define "Love" when there's no "Hate".
How can you define "Right" when there's no "Wrong".
How can you define "Guided" when there's no "Astray".
How can you define "Creation" when there's no "Destruction".
How can you define "Matter" when there's no "Anti-Matter".

Actually the 'supreme law in our universe' is BALANCE or in other terms 'pairing of the opposites'.

                                      51.49
And of every thing We have created pairs That ye may receive instruction.

                                      90.8
Have We not made for him a pair of eyes?-
And a tongue, and a pair of lips?-
And shown him the two highways?
But he hath made no haste on the path that is steep.
And what will explain to thee the path that is steep?-
                                      freeing the bondman;
Or the giving of food in a day of privation
To the orphan with claims of relationship,
Or to the indigent (down) in the dust.
Then will he be of those who 'amanu', and enjoin patience, and enjoin deeds of kindness and compassion.
Such are the Companions of the Right Hand.
And those who are 'kaffaru', they are the Companions of the Left Hand.
On them will be Fire vaulted over (all round).

                                      Salam / Peace

Jafar, I'm not saying you're wrong (yet) but before you make implication that they're similar, please recall that Allah did not create 'fasad fil ard'/mischief in the land'. That's from the hands of men.
