DOES GOD KNOW THE FUTURE?

Hi AB,
I hope you are OK, whats your eye problem? I hope I can help.
Thanks bro
I appreciate your concern, it statrted over a year ago, I think it is from looking on comuter screens for thae last 15 years as this is how I make my living,
I have to put the brightness at the dimmest possible settings otherwise in under 15 minutes all I see is circles with a bit headche, it peaks for about 15 minutes then it clears again slowly after I stay away from the monitor, it does not hapen when the brightness settings is low but sometimes I can not see with that settings so I brighten it a bit and forget then realize when I start seeing the circles, nut no way back I have to go through the course of almost seeing nothing then it clears out in about 15 to 30 minutes but turns to bad headche like now exactly, I checked with my brother who is a doctor in egypt, he suggested that I need a reading glass
my eye sight in normal condition is 6/6 though
what do you think bro, do you reckon I need a reading glass?
I'm just lazy to check it out as I can control it if I put the brightness to the lowest level, but when it happned the first time about a year ago I freaked out bro I thought 100% that I'm going blind, now after it ahpeened about 15 times in that last year, i know exactly its course when it happens
Peace bro

Hi Ahmed bahgat,
Say, a young boy 0f 15 starts binge drinking alcohol and does so for another 10-15 yrs, and finally dies becoz of the extensive liver damage caused by the alcohol intake. R u saying he would have died at 30 by some other cause, even if he lead a healthy life style, becoz he was destined to die at 30?
absolutely, and I believe the Quran proves as such
So, u r saying he would have died at 30 anyway even if did not drink himself to death? So, according to ur logic, why should people not drink, not smoke, not commit suicide, not kill etc? or are they free to do so?
I disagree, coz I believe, he invited his own death, by his own actions.
that is a toitally differnt issue here really, death is not a punishment to be honest, and I consider it nothing but "Game Over", death is something that is written in a book up there and for everyone it is known in advance by Allah how many years each will live, I guess the Quran suggest as such.
the important point is whatever actions he/she did and is a violation tothe Quran Laws he/she must pay account and be held responsible (I'm talking belivers here),
same case withy suicide, Allah knew that this perosn will kill the self on that day however if that person didn't and must die on that day then he must die on that day
Quran tells us when death comes, it can't be delayed an hour neither postponed an hourWhen the time of ''death'' that Allah has pre decided for u arives, no one can stop. But u can bring ur death quite early than what Allah has decided, unless Allah decides to intervene.
Say, I decide to kill myself now. And I die. Are u saying it was destined that I die today? If I did not commit suicide, I would have died some way or the other, like the roof collapsing over me, etc. I absolutely disagree.coz I believe If I did not commit suicide, I would have lived as long as Allah had pre decided for me. Not more.
Say, a person X kills Y(20 yr old). If u r saying Allah knew even before X and Y are born, that Y would be killed by X, if everything is pre programmed, tell me where is the free will? And will X be punished for his action of killing Y? If yes, why should he be punished, coz if its all pre-determined, then how is he responsibile at all? Then arent we mere puppets? Why and how can we be rewarded or punished if all actions are pre determined?
I hope u get the idea. Not everything is pre determined. If everything was predetermined, there is no free will. God gives us some limits, within which we have free will. God can intervene now and then, within the limits if He wishes. Its upto him. Or He may will to just let it happen.
He could have lived longer(which Allah had stipulated for him)
Then it was written in a book that this would have happened if that perosn stayed healthy and didn't drink alcohol, and sure Allah knew this in advance
If Allah knew every action in advance, then how and why will we be judged for our actions, if we are not responsible for them? Makes no sense.
Similary, say a young teenager commits suicide, out of depression over some school exam at a age of 15. R u saying thats the period Allah had planned for him? That if he had not committed suicide at 15, he would have died at 15 by one or the other way. I disagree, coz I believe if this kid had not committed this foolish mistake, he would have lived to the period, Allah had wished for him. Instead he committed suicide, and shortened his lifetime.
I'm sorry sister we are not the ones who control when we die or how long we live, I agree it looks this way, but according to the Quran it is not the case for sure, how the humans interfer and how they will be held responsible that is something for Allah to judge not me really, but Ii will try to find the verses from the Quran
I follow the Quran sister not my feelingsFeelings? I am not talking either of feelings. Its logic and understanding. I would like to see the Quran verses though.
I am not saying I can decide how long I want to live. Ofcourse, I cant. God has pre decided that for me. But I can shorten my lifespan by foolish actions, unless Allah intervenes with mercy.
For eg, if God has pre decided death for me at 30, I will die at 30. But if God has pre decided death for me at 70, I can die anytime between now and 70 if I am foolish or irresponsible. I wont and cant live a day more than 70. But I can die before 70, becoz of my own actions, unless Allah intervenes and changes the course of events.Allah knows everything. Its like Allah gives u a chance. If u throw it away, its ur loss and ur decission.
sure, and btw I tried to commit suicide at the age of 19 and tokk 201 sleeping tablets in 48 hours then stayed 3 days in intensive care with heart beat gouing beyond the max scale, somehow I lived becauiuise it was not my time to die
Well, U might have survived becoz
-U had chances of survival, going by your clinical condition. Ur prognosis depends on what drug u took, how much of it was absorbed, When treatment was administered, The medical facilities available etc.
-Or if ur death was absolutely inevitable, by the looks of ur clinical condition, that would mean u escaped becoz Allah intervened to save u.also my 14 years old daughter was snatched from my hand in the sea bya freak wave when she was about 3 years old and somehow find here floating in the ocean 10 meters away from me and nothing was wrong with her after she stayed under water in fral conditions far more than a minute and yet she lived, see, it was not her time to die
See, we can see only that we can see. For eg, at this very moment, I dont know what is happening in the next room or 100 meteres away from me.
But Allah can see all of it. That doesnt mean He is causing whatever is happening in the next room or 100 mts away from me. He can see it. He can intervene in anything, and cause things to happen. Or he can just let whatever is happening to happen.
So, ur child may have been returned by a wave that was coming forth and she might not have been deep down in water for long or she might have not inhaled water into her lungs etc. There are possible logical explanations. When there are no possible logical explanation, We can say it was caused by God. But when we have logical explanations, Its more like it was allowed by God. God did not cause it, but God did not stop it either. ie, God allowed it to to happen.I know people who fell from the 2nd floor and died while others who fell from the 6 floor and made it
I also know many who were shot in the head and lived and others who were punched in the head and diedIt depends on the injury they sustained, on what surface they fell etc.
There can be logical explanations. Cause and effects.I remember one of my neighbours in egypt who was a very righteous man, was very young and had absolutely nothing wrong with his heakth, he was not even a smoker, his wife found him one day dead in his sleep while there was no apparant reason for his death, this is true story
Certain things are beyond the control of man. I am not saying everything is within man's control. But what is within man's control, we ought to act responsible towards that.
see Allah is the one Who controls who dies and who don't at certain times, this in effect means that He knows when they should die, How they die? I guess while He also knows how, it is totally irrelevent because we only concerned that knows in advance that they must die at certain time
"Wa Ma Tashaoon Ila An Yashaa Allah"Yes, Allah has pre decided our life time. And we can not live a day longer than the pre decided time. But we can die sooner, becoz of our foolish actions, if Allah doesnt intervene.
Allah is watching u. Allah can intervene and change the course of events if He wants to save u, with His abundant mercy and forgiveness.
I agree, but again it is according to His Plan that was built on pre knwledge of what will happen.
If every action is predetermined, where is the free will? Why punishments and rewards? What's man's responsibility /role at all?
for example if someone wants to kill me and shot me in the head, Allah can intevene and save me because ity is not my time yet to die, see no contadiction, this means that on that day someone wants to kill me but I should not die on that day, even if I was shout 100 bullets, but if I was punched in the face in a day that i supp-ose to die on it then that punch will be enough to kill me if Allah wants to misguide a thug and allow him to kill me
See, if some one shot u on ur head 100's of time, and destroyed ur brain completely, there is no way u would survive.
If some one slashes ur brain with an axe, absolutely all over and ur brain is absolutely smashed, there is no way u would survive.Allah can stop these events from happening if He wishes, or He can just let it happen. But he does not cause it to happen. He either allows it to happen or stops it from happening.
Or He can will to just let it happen.
everything will be excuted according to his plan that was created based on His pre knoweldge of what will happen by every person, it is exactly like when the jews tried to kill jesus
Then how are we responsible for our actions at all? Why would we be punished or rewarded?
and can be avoided if man lived in a responsible manner, with all that Allah has blessed us with.
I guess what you said, is far easier said that done
look at the human history and please be practical and realistic regarding the human natureSee, I am responsible for my life to a certain extent. If I am foolish or irresponsible towards my self, then its me to blame for the consequences.
Similarly, If say, I was responsible for some one else's life, for eg, say I am in charge of certain no. of people's accomodation. A day before they are to arrive, I get information from my staff, that the electrical line is at fault and causing leaks. Now my responsibility would be to take action and to set it right, before they come. If I dont, and the electrical leak causes a fire and everyone dies, I am to blame becoz I did not do what I should have done.
So, similarly if each of us act responsible to the best of our ability, towards ourselves and towards our duties, we can prevent man made disasters/errors/tragedies.
On the context, If the saudi government learn from their lessons from the past, and execute well devised structured plans of management/ organisation, these deaths due to stampedes every year could be well avoided.
Peace!

Hi bmbmm,
But according to my understanding the time of death can not be quicken or delayed. Isn't that true? So even if you drink or have a bad lifestyle, can you quicken the hour?
We do not control everything. Certain boundaries are predetermined by God.
But according to God's plan, There are certain things which are within our control. That is what our free will is about. And if we abuse that free will, there will be consequences.
So, if a person binge drinks from a very young age for a considerable period, the natural course of events will lead to liver damage and other complications, leading eventually to his death sooner than normal.
Say this same person, leads a healthy life style, he is likely to live as long as he was pre determined to live.
So, yes, one can bring death closer, if God doesnt intervene. But we can not post pone the hour of death. As for God's role in it, I think the predetermined life span is by God. Then whatever that happens to man within this period, becoz of his own actions, will happen, unless God intervenes and wills otherwise.
So, If X kills himself he will die. Unless God intervenes with His mercy.
So, in this case, God did not cause his death. X himself caused his own death. God let it happen ie, God did not stop it or God did not wish to change the course of events or God did not intervene. This is how I understand.
Peace!
-
Al right,
So when God say the time of death is fixed, means we can't delay it for having no choice, and we can quicken it e.g by shooting ourselvess in the head. But if you look around most people die due to diseases or things that appear to be self-inflected. Anyway I still find it confusing. Any other opinion?
-
peace
I think that God has determined our fate. Fate is different from our will. If God has decided to put us in a certain place, we will get there somehow, but what's important is not WHERE you are, but WHAT you are doing there. We all have to die, but How we die is up to us.
-
Peace all. My answer to the question does a single being(god) know everything? Is no. I suggest that in place of the word allah, you use the word will. Not a single will, but an ongoing number of wills. Each will is free to use this this indestructrable will. No one will can dominate or be passive, because these states are illusions that produce suffering. Einstein stated that matter cannot be destroyed,it can only be changed to a different form. I suggest freewill cannot be destroyed,it can only be changed to a different form. Every single thing is an independent free will. One wills action on the other can only modify the environment,it cannot destroy another will. Each will is an allah, but there is no totally dominant allah or a totally powerless allah. When it is said there is no god but allah,i believe it means there is no guide for a particular person except his freewill. The peaceful way is to believe in your own freewill whilst also recognising there are an ongoing number of other wills which also have freewill, and thus you cannot achieve domination or be passive, you can be freeflowing and interactive.(like the oriental way of tao)The way of suffering is to be passive or try to dominate. No other will can know the reality of your will or exactly what you will do,-your will is random to all on-lookers. On-lookers can only guess,or witness, or be informed by your will of what you want to do,or are doing, or have done.Like quantum physics you cannot 100% predict the behaviour of a will(or particle).
-
Wow...I will need sometime to digest it....you put to much masala in your message!
Back to the Quran When God say the time is fixed, we can't delat it nor quicken it. What does it mean? Those stone trowers who died in Mecca, did they die because there time is fixed, or did they die earlier? If everybody die earlier, due to say their lifestyle, then does that mean they killed themself? So most people today kill themself?
-
My current conclusion from my previous post is that every single being is an indestructable will,in other words an allah. Every single being is an allah. Every allah is a single being. Thus there are an ongoing number(or infinite number) of single allahs.

Peace bmbmm and all. The word fixed in the quran(if im not mistaken) when referring to death is from the root 'kitab'. Kitab can mean awareness(or experience) and so when it says death is in a book it does not mean predetermined or fixed, but can mean that you(the will) are either aware of death through it happening to you,or death likely can happen to you(so called near death/out of body experience) so basically when death comes you can be aware of it in some form.
Of course death is not the end, every being is indestructable and eternal in some way. -
Salaam phoenix1. When a person dies or is dying he is aware (to some extent) that he could be near death or 'dead'. Others around can be aware of this too. This means no death of anything goes un-noticed. In place of the word 'aware' we could also say 'conscious' of death in some way.
Note;death can be seen as a change in environment, not a destruction of the will.(self or allah) -

What you said above is wrong
Death was refered to in the Quran as "Ajal", NOT kitab, and that Ajal means appointed term and it is recorded in a book
Peace

Peace ahmedbhaghat. kitaban muajjalan,im sure this phrase is in the 'quran'(maybe 3;145). Could this mean an awareness(kitab) which is quick/impending(ajal) when referring to death,in other words you are notified of possible death by a sudden awareness.

Hello to all
This is my evidences from the Quran that Allah knows in advance how long any human will live and when they should die, How they die?, this is only for God to know, the way they died is irrelevant to the fact that He always knows when people should die, because He created a fixed term for exch soul, this fixed term is also documented in a book that He has up there, let?s start walking through the verses
And a soul will not die but with the permission of Allah the term is fixed; and whoever desires the reward of this world, I shall give him of it, and whoever desires the reward of the hereafter I shall give him of it, and I will reward the grateful.
(145)
-> The above is clear ? And a soul will not die but with the permission of Allah the term is fixed?, we can read that NO SOUL WILL DIE BUT WITH THE PERMISSION OF ALLAH, Why? Because THE TERM IS FIXED. That fixed term CAN?T be changed by us, neither others can change it to others; I agree it may look this way when people commit suicide or others try to kill others but sure it is not the truth.
Surely Allah is He with Whom is the knowledge of the hour, and He sends down the rain and He knows what is in the wombs; and no soul knows what he/she shall earn on the morrow; and no soul knows in what land he shall die; surely Allah is Knowing, Aware.
(34)
-> In the above verse we are told that Allah knows things we can?t know, one of the things is; in which land we shall die ?and no soul knows in what land he shall die; surely Allah is Knowing, Aware.?, this clearly means He knows also when we should die as He knows where we will die.
10- And spend out of what We have given you before death comes to one of you, so that he should say My Lord! why didst Thou not respite me to a near term, so that I should have given alms and been of the doers of good deeds?
11- And Allah does not respite a soul when her appointed term has come, and Allah is Aware of what you do.
(10)
(11)->We were told above, when death come to us, we will try hard to ask for a time extension to fix our mistakes ? And spend out of what We have given you before death comes to one of you, so that he should say My Lord! why didst Thou not respite me to a near term, so that I should have given alms and been of the doers of good deeds??, sure our request will be denied because the term is fixed ? And Allah does not respite a soul when her appointed term has come,?
We have ordained death among you and We are not to be overcome
(60)
-> We read above ? We have ordained death among you?, this means the fixed term for exch one of us and that fixed term can?t be changed ? and We are not to be overcome?, this clearly means that no one will die BEFORE the expires of his/her fixed term
Allah takes the souls at the time of their death, and those that die not during their sleep; then He withholds those on whom He has passed the decree of death and sends the others back till an appointed term; most surely there are signs in this for a people who reflect.
(42)
-> We read above, Death is like Sleep, in both cases the SOUL must exit the body, for the ones that their term has not expired yet, the souls will be returned to their bodies until their terms expire, and for those who had their terms expired in their sleep, the souls MUST NOT return back to the body, this reminds me with my healthy neighbour who died very young in his sleep ?Allah takes the souls at the time of their death, and those that die not during their sleep; then He withholds those on whom He has passed the decree of death and sends the others back till an appointed term?
But when We decreed death for him, naught showed them his death but a creature of the earth that ate away his staff; and when it fell down, the jinn came to know plainly that if they had known the unseen, they would not have tarried in abasing torment.
(14)
-> Here is another good example of a righteous prophet (Solaiman) who died young in his thirties (as far as I know), I guess he was not a smoker also, and sure he was a king i.e. he had a very comfy life with all sorts of servants from all sorts of creatures including the Jinns, The Quran told us, Solaiman died while he was sitting on his throne and leaning on his staff, why he has to die at this young age, if he was dedicating all his life for the sake of Allah (he was even chosen by Allah to be a prophet) ?, in fact, this is what Solaiman asked Allah for, to give him wealth and power NO HUMAN EVER HAD, to deploy it for the sake of guiding the people to Him, his wish was granted and more was granted than what he asked for, but his term expired in his thirties and he must die even if he was a prophet, even if he was young and even if he was sitting comfortably on his throne ? But when We decreed death for him, naught showed them his death but a creature of the earth that ate away his staff;?
99- Until, when death cometh unto one of them, he saith My Lord! Send me back,
100- That I may do right in that which I have left behind! But nay! It is but a word that he speaketh; and behind them is a barrier until the day when they are raised.
(99)
(100)-> We read the above message earlier that we will try hard to seek a time extension when death arrives to us ? Until, when death cometh unto one of them, he saith My Lord! Send me back, That I may do right in that which I have left behind!?, but again the term can?t be changed, look how Allah expressed this denial with the following words ? It is but a word that he speaketh; and behind them is a barrier until the day when they are raised.?, See, it can?t happen, our wish must be denied and also a barrier will be enforced to prevent it from going back until the Judgment Day, I would like to add a personal opinion here, this barrier as far as I believe is most likely the Event Horizon in the black holes (Allah knows best).
"Wherever ye are, death will find you out, even if ye are in towers built up strong and high! If some good befalls them, they say, "This is from Allah"; but if evil, they say, "This is from thee" (O Prophet). Say "All things are from Allah." But what hath come to these people, that they fail to understand a single fact?
(7
-> This is a very good verse, it tells us, whatever we do to avoid death even if we seek refuge in high and well protected towers, death will find us , see the word (find)?, i.e. somehow it must happen by nature, by ourselves or by others, this is how we will see it but at the end of the day, it is the expiry of our fixed terms ? Wherever ye are, death will find you out, even if ye are in towers built up strong and high?
And if Allah had destroyed men for their iniquity, He would not leave on the earth a single creature, but He respites them till an appointed time; so when their appointed terms expire, they shall not be able to delay (it) an hour nor can they bring (it) on (before its time).
(61)
-> Another excellent verse, it tells us, if Allah should punish the humans on the spot for their sins, NO ONE WOULD HAVE LEFT ON EARTH, this is due to the many sins humans commit, but the point is Allah does not do that because He appointed each soul for a fixed term to live ? And if Allah had destroyed men for their iniquity, He would not leave on the earth a single creature, but He respites them till an appointed time;?, and when their appointed terms expire ? so when their appointed terms expire, they shall not be able to delay (it) an hour nor can they bring (it) on (before its time).?, clear as the light. Therefore no one can change the appointed term the self nor for others.
To every people is a term appointed when their term is reached, not an hour can they cause delay, nor (an hour) can they advance (it in anticipation).
(34)
-> We have seen verses talk about individuals appointed terms, now we read it as a bunch of people together, for me (as a personal opinion), I guess it is like plane crashes, earthquakes, volcanos, land slides, tsunamis, etc?., i.e. when a bunch of people die together, it happened that all of those unfortunate ones share the same expiry time for their appointed terms ? To every people is a term appointed when their term is reached, not an hour can they cause delay, nor (an hour) can they advance (it in anticipation).?
In the following two verses we read, it is the desire of Allah to make people die at young age and others die at very old age, i.e. this is a law He created upon Himself, and we can?t really question it
O mankind! if ye have a doubt about the Resurrection, (consider) that We created you out of dust, then out of sperm, then out of a leech-like clot, then out of a morsel of flesh, partly formed and partly unformed, in order that We may manifest (our power) to you; and We cause whom We will to rest in the wombs for an appointed term, then do We bring you out as babes, then (foster you) that ye may reach your age of full strength; and some of you are called to die, and some are sent back to the feeblest old age, so that they know nothing after having known (much), and (further), thou seest the earth barren and lifeless, but when We pour down rain on it, it is stirred (to life), it swells, and it puts forth every kind of beautiful growth (in pairs).
(5)
-> 225 is one awesome verse indeed ? and some of you are called to die, and some are sent back to the feeblest old age, so that they know nothing after having known (much), and (further),?
He it is Who created you from dust, then from a small lifegerm, then from a clot, then He brings you forth as a child, then that you may attain your maturity, then that you may be old-- and of you there are some who are caused to die before-- and that you may reach an appointed term, and that you may understand.
(67)
-> The verse clearly says that whoever die before reaching an old age, has reached the appointed term ? He brings you forth as a child, then that you may attain your maturity, then that you may be old-- and of you there are some who are caused to die before-- and that you may reach an appointed term, and that you may understand.?
Peace be with all

Peace ahmedbhaghat. I dont mean to be offensive. quoting severeal verses does not necessarily mean that is the only understanding or the correct one.

Ok, no offence taken, but I hardly talk without the Quran verses, I guess you may consider it "Laghaw Al hadith" and ignore it, or at least refute it
Thank you
