    Salaams all,

So as if stoning the guy to death wasn?t enough they have to inflict grievous punishment upon him afterwards also???Is this real?

    3618
They replied ?We have welcomed you better than you deserve. If you do not cease, we will stone you, and you will receive a painful retribution from us!?
    036.018
YUSUFALI The (people) said "for us, we augur an evil omen from you if ye desist not, we will certainly stone you. And a grievous punishment indeed will be inflicted on you by us."
PICKTHAL (The people of the city) said We augur ill of you. If ye desist not, we shall surely stone you, and grievous torture will befall you at our hands.
SHAKIR They said Surely we augur evil from you; if you do not desist, we will certainly stone you, and there shall certainly afflict vou a painful chastisement from us.

    From Lanes

Rajam = stoning/ the act of driving away/ the act of cutting off from/ forsaking/ abandoning.

And this is why they stone people to death in the hadith ? ALL A BIG MISTRANSLATION FROM THE QURAN ASWELL-I THINK.

So can it be other then stoning looking at the meanings given above from lanes?

    Salaams all.

Are you refering to the threat issued against Abraham by his people?
I think the word "rajm" actually means to "kick somone out" or to force him into exile. It 's a root word in itself. If you switch the letters around, you'll get , from which the word is derived. The word "mujrim" means someone who is detached from society because of his behavior.

      Hope that helps.
