Wudu and Sex and Thigns Relating To
-
As Salaam Alaikum,
I have a question about wudu
From my understanding, ceremonial impurity refers to sex... the man who has translated my Quran says in a note "ritual impurity from sex pollution".
Now I would like to know what does that mean exactly?
Is it only in reference to sexual intercourse? and Orgasms?
Or does the simplest sexual discharge (which involves no orgasm, no sexual intercourse) mean that you must have to take a bath?
Also I'd like to know, does one have to make wudu if they pass gas? I know that they have to if they use hte restroom, but some poeple say that this includes passing gas as well. What is your position on that?
salaamPeace,
Respectfully.443 O you who believe, do not approach the communion while you are intoxicated, until you know what you are saying. Nor if you have had intercourse, unless traveling, until you bathe. And if you are ill, or traveling, or one of you has excreted feces, or you had sexual contact with the women, and could not find water, then you shall select from the clean soil; you shall wipe your faces and hands. God is Pardoning, Forgiving.
443 does not say anything about gas, right?
56 tells me how to perform ablution
56 O you who believe, if you rise to hold the communion, then wash your faces and your hands up to the elbows, and wipe your heads and your feet to the ankles; and if you have had intercourse, then you shall bathe. And if you are ill, or traveling, or you have excreted feces, or you have had sexual contact with the women, and you cannot not find water, then you shall select from the clean soil; you shall wipe your faces and your hands with it. God does not want to place any hardship on you, but He wants to cleanse you and to complete His blessings upon you that you may be appreciative. But then these sunnis here tell me that prophet Muhammad did some other way of ablution. They are truly deaf, dumb and blind. Thank God Who has guided me.
Peace.

That's what I don't get, if the Qur'an is so clear about wudu, and then Sunnis add a bunch of steps to it. I'm told it's better to follow the traditional method, to "be safe", but if it's so clear then why are they putting the hadiths above the Qur'an??
-
Because they feel that the Quran isn't hard on them enough or that their life hasn't reach the desired level of misery they somehow wish to achieve thinking it will make their next life better.
Or something like that I guess. I don't know how hardcore sunnis manage to live by all the hadith without somehow going against the Quran. For example there is nothing about stoning in the Quran for adultery, and the Quran never states the punishment for adultery is death (or worse, STONING to death). Thus, anyone who stones another person for this reason is committing, illegal murder. For this reason they are pretty much saying Hadith > Quran. This is sad considering Hadith is the work of Satan and the Quran is all God's.

Peace,
Excuse me for sounding gross, but why do farts smell? There must be something in the gas that is dirty which is unsurprising when it is coming from the rectum.
God bless

Burps also smell. So does bad breath. Bacteria is what causes it.
Although I don't see why someone just can't hold in a fart until they finish the prayer. Sometimes you can't even tell if you did. Maybe that's why God didn't talk about it.
Peace,
Burps smell of food, maybe acidic too, because the gas comes from the food in your stomach.
Farts smell way worse than burps, unless you have really bad breath lol, as it comes from the same place your poop does.
I always pray as soon as I dry off from wudu so it would be very likely that I would be visiting the toilet/ expelling gas/ having sex. I'm not married yet anyway so the third doesn't apply to me.
While we're on the topic, do you have to do wudu before every salat even if your ablution is still valid? I was told this before following Quran alone but a brother here told it should be before every salat, which isn't a problem as the Quranic wudu is very short.God bless
-
Technically, no.
Because in the Quran it makes it clear than coming from the privy (crapping or piss) is what nullifies it. Say you prayed Asr and 5 minutes later, Maghrib came. You're not going to make wudu again. It's totally meaningless, and God doesn't make you do meaningless things, unlike hadithists.

Peace
Most of the believers who have stayed long enough in this forum, have converted down to 2 or 3 prayer. I, personally converted from 5 to 2, after scrutinizing the subject. So doing a cleansing first thing in the morning when we get up for the prayers, and doing it again during esha when we are through a long days work , and are retiring to bed , is very logical.
The ayah clearly says , when you observe the contact prayers , do the following ,,,, Then it says, if you can't find water...... That means if you find water wadu every time, and if you cant find water", well'' you can still pray, without wadu, then again there is a condition, which is "provided you have not been through the listed 4 situations, and if you have been, Then you must do some kinda of cleansing with dry soil,(because water is not available)
I hope i make myself clear, but if you still have some doubts , i shall be more than happy to discuss it .
Thanks

Guess it depends on what "fataharu" means since that's what I read in the verse about intercourse. I personally DON'T think it means wash every single section of your body (like the hair, unless ejaculate came on it). I think it means washing of the excretions from sex. However it's clear from the verse it is something other than ablution.
No need to include details if God didn't.

Tahar , means , to become clean/pure.
The command in 5-6 only says--"cleans yourself, or purify yourself", It does not tell you as to how?4-43 is probably an after revelation. which clarifys , as how to tahroo?
"Fa Taharoo", in 4-43 is elaborated as Fa ghasilloo, ILLa abri sablin, Hatta Taghtasillu.
(a) Tahroo yourself by taking complete body rinse.
(b) And do not pray if some how you cannot.
(c)Abri sabelin, (traveller)exempted from this clause.you will find that clause b, and c , are missing in 5-6.

The topic of ablution has been discussed in significant detail in the past. I recommend using the search function to find past threads, e.g.

Where it says to do a complete rinse is a mystery to me, or is that what taharu really means. Ighsil is wash yourself. I can wash but does it have to include the hairs coming out of my ear.
If you read 5-6 it says , faghasilloo, then it talks of different body parts, meaning wash those particular parts. In the absense of any body parts, "faghasilloo" command in 4-43 means a whole body bath.

Yes. My point is, why would we need to wash more of the head that what is required for ablution? You see this is the part that is hard for a lot of people especially for women who get their hair done once or twice a week. I don't see the problem with "mash" of the head sufficing while the rest of the body (the torso down) is rinsed.
That seems to be an interpretation to me. To me it's like saying because God specified certain things to be washed during ablution, it means washing any other part in addition is forbidden.

That is why it is wamssahuu , the head, Not wash during ablution.
Bathing becomes necessary only after sex, and that would include your head/hair also. Don't you take a bath every/every other day? isn't that a must for hygiene? cant you take it whenever you have sex ? until and unless you are having sex twice or more per day and in that case , pay the penalty ;D
personally yes I would luv to have eat that frequent sex , if it was possible or I was capable muscle , and would not mind the hassle of bathing >D
! The problem that I can fore see with bathing is, when you are away from your house, or being a guests somewhere and those hmm people looking at you mischieveously as to why are you taking these frequent baths. >D
Well , in that case you may choose to invoke 4-43 , sub clause of "abri sabeelin"jedi And if you are so sensitive about your hair , and in a sexual overdrive mode, You cant pray ,( 4-43) and be answerable to God for a missed opportunity. police

lol @ looking mischievously at frequent bathers D
Yeah but...why are we to assume by the commandment "you shall wash" God is saying have water touch every single visible part of your body. This starts to fall in the light of hadithistic logic which goes into unnecessary details. To say that because a hair missed to touch water it is as if you washed nothing, is in accordance with the mind of a hadithist, not in accordance with God. God said wash. If he did not include details, don't shove in words. If he said in the Quran "if I say wash and don't specify body parts, it means take a swim" then we can come to that conclusion but not so if no specifications are given.
...I LOVE your use of smilies btw, and how u increased text size this time. awesome yay

You have to understand a word/command what you understand out of it normally. If bathing rings a bell in your mind for a whole body wash , then it is what God meant, you cant leave out the things at your own suiting's.
If you are hinting that details of washing (which parts) is not given, I have already replied you for that. When God meant for you to wash only a few parts, HE did mention "only those parts with Ghusl word for ablution" (5-5)
bravo Ok , I understand you, you wanted that God should have listed every body part with this command here, but then again you would have come up with , "Is sitting in a bath tub ok ? or one has to take a running water shower ? What would be the minimum quantity of water required for completing a Quranic Ghusul ? Can one use shampoo, or dry clean herself ? Tap water would do, or do we require a filtered/mineral water" ? ,,, rotfl rotfl rotfl Come on Grow up ,and move on to learning with open mind. There is plenty out here for sincere learners.
(Btw, Hair and scalp are one of the dirtiest parts of your body and hence require frequent cleaning. The oil and sweat with the help of hair, trap maximum dust/pollutants , and are difficult to clean with any method other than proper washing).

No, God does not say "only wash these parts" for ablution....you can take a shower and say you did wudu. Do you see the word "bess"(only) in there, or a similar word?
My point is, if we are to take this logic than we can conclude that "adornments" in the verse adressing women's dress code, is referring to her entire body which is an "adornment" because we think so. You are saying by the command "wash" God means wash your entire body because he did not specify what to wash in the verse about intercourse. It is not left for us to interpret, and if I am supposed to follow "what rings a bell in my mind" then you just admitted it is not up to humans to define what God's words are (and force their opinions on others). You would be right by this as God said himself to his prophet to not explain the Quran. My point is that what Quran is for someone isn't necessarily what it means for another person. Sadly most muslims think the prophet elaborated on the Quran and upheld a "sunna" other than God's to be followed.

The best way to avoid all this has sex in tub or a pool. laugh
