    Salam alaikum,

Please examine the following, specifically the underlined portions

3211 - Say ?The Angel of Death, put in charge of you, will (duly) take your souls then shall ye be brought back to your Lord.?"

1670 - It is Allah who creates you and takes your souls at death; and of you there are some who are sent back to a feeble age, so that they know nothing after having known (much) for Allah is All-Knowing, All-Powerful.?

850 - If thou couldst see, when the angels take the souls of the Unbelievers (at death), (How) they smite their faces and their backs, (saying) "Taste the penalty of the blazing Fire-?

3942 - It is Allah that takes the souls (of men) at death; and those that die not (He takes) during their sleep those on whom He has passed the decree of death, He keeps back (from returning to life), but the rest He sends (to their bodies) for a term appointed verily in this are Signs for those who reflect.

4727 - hence, how when the angels gather them in death, striking their faces and their backs?

Can anyone comment on the differing accounts of "who" will take our souls when we die? An angel, some angels or Allah? Tawaffa being noted in each of the verses. Is there something I am missing?

    Thank you!

      Hello

I see it very simple dear sister,

Allah put the Angel of Death in charge of the taking the souls, that Angel of death also have a team of angels that work for it,

so the three entities who can take the souls are

      1. Allah (can't be taken of Him)

      2. The Chief Angel of Death (can be taken of him) and is the last soul to die after all souls are caused to die by him, and he will be caused to die by Allah

      3. The Angels of Death (can be taken of them), they work for the Chief Angel of Death, they may be caused to die by the Chief Angel of Death or by Allah

and because Allah was the one who gave this power to them (The chief angels and his team) then it is Allah who actually takes the souls, especially all of them will be caused to die at the end and only Allah stays "the one who never die"

      Peace be with you

        Salaam
I was looking at the arabic in these verses and maybe the problem is with the translation? I am learning arabic so I could be wrong. But it seems to me since Allah is called "Maliki" maybe in the english translation they translate maliki as angels when it is Allah who is really referrenced.
In al-fatiha Allah is referred to as Maliki....
        14 (Transliteration) Maliki yawmi alddeeni

Again, I'm an arabic beginner so I may not have a proper understanding of the language yet. I welcome comments as now I am confused too.
        LOL

            Peace Mate

for me mate it is just a system that Allah created, that system has put chief angels in chief roles and less ranking angels as their "Jinood", their soldiers literlay

of course he does not need any helper, it is nothing but a system exactly like the angels who write your book and mine now, they have roles assigned to them and the angels strictly follow these roles according to the mighty system Allah has created

at any time though the system created can take over from His creatures

it is like Allah sends a prophet to tell us about Him instead of Him coming down and do it Himself, it is all part of the system that Allah created according to rules He only knows

if you notice in the verse anout the angel of death it sayd in arabic "Al Lazi Wokal Bikom" i.e. He was put in charge by Allah for that Role and ultimatly when the judgment day comes, the chief angel of death will die last creature by Allah and that is when Allah alone will be the only live entity for some time untill the resurectionhappens

when that time comes, Allah will revive another chief angel who will revive us after it happens for him, it is all but a restricted system that Allah has created bro

            Allah knows best

            peace
