Animals: What happens to them!?

idea We are told that animals are communities like us, yet the Quran makes no mention of their souls or of their final destination.
? What is their status in this world? Are they being tested just like us? Do they go to heaven or hell or neither?Anyone have any insights into this issue?

Peace nazz and all. I believe 'animals' possess a soul(awareness and will) too,and they are subject to suffering,re-birth and death just like humans. We might reincarnate as a cat. )

Maybe animals were sent here as a punishment, like humans, but their crime was less than ours, so once they die they will end up in heaven. This world is afterall a punishment for many animals having to face eachother and worst of all, humans and their destructive living...
However, I really cannot back this speculation up with any information...
