    Peace bro

can you please elaborate on your question?, because it seems to me you answered your question within the question above that talk about projectiles chasing the devils talking about?

    peace

sorry, i meant if they actually meant that meteors chase devils or if there is some metaphorical significance in that or if that's some kind of mistranslation.

And Leena, thanks for those notes, i'll look through them.

            Peace Brother Phoenix

Not sure if it will be any use to you, i hope so anyway, it was made long time ago and it is small part of a debate about the stars and planets as described in the Quran

            067.005
YUSUFALI And we have, (from of old), adorned the lowest heaven with Lamps, and We have made such (Lamps) (as) missiles to drive away the Evil Ones, and have prepared for them the Penalty of the Blazing Fire.

            (5)

-> again you are wrong, because the MOON never been mentioned in the verse, remember that the LAMP means in Arabic anything that can produce light on its own, so what the verse is saying that the ? adorned the lowest heaven with Lamps and in Arabic ? ?
-> the ?MESBAH? means ?Lamp?, can produce LIGHT ON ITS OWN, ok we know that the Quran described the SUN as such, then any other star will be the same, so look again at the verse and see the accuracy in describing the night sky being adorned with lamps, this is exactly what you will see when you look on the sky on out of the city oe even in the city on a dark night

-> but logically speaking we can not include the stars only here as the Arabic meaning of LAMP is anything that the produce light on its own as explained before, so anything in the sky STARS OR NOT that produce LIGHT on its own ?DOES NOT REFLECT IT? MUST BE DESCRIBED AS A LAMP IN THE QURAN, well that is exactly the case we have in hand, in the next half of the verse where it say ? made such (Lamps) (as) missiles to drive away the Evil Ones, and have prepared for them the Penalty of the Blazing Fire.?, the Quran is very accurate here it says those lamps will be as shooting missiles to drive away the Evil Ones ?Jinns?, so the lamp is used to describe the meteors as they light up during the earth atmosphere entry, and because they produce light ON THEIR OWN as they heat up from the air friction, they start burning and produce light and that is why the Quran described the meteors as lamps, well the Quran also described the meteor as Missiles, well sure because they look like a missile that is been shot, in fact we know meteor generally as a shooting star, but the Quran did not use the missiles word here randomly, the Quran is accurate with every single word, that can be cross referenced with other areas in the Quran, the Quran is telling us that anyone from the Jinn ?whom I explained to you in another post about Adam and Eve story? has the ability to go up into the heavens, and because this was stopped by Allah, Any capable Jinn will be tracked by one of those meteor and knocked down, we can cross reference this with another location in he Quran

            (6) ?Lo! We have adorned the lowest heaven with an ornament, the planets;?
            (7) ?With security from every froward devil.?
( ?They cannot listen to the Highest Chiefs for they are pelted from every side,?
            (9) ?Outcast, and theirs is a perpetual torment;?
            (10) ?Except such as snatch away something by stealth, and they are pursued by a flaming fire, of piercing brightness?

            (6)
            (7)
            (
            (9)
            (10)

-.> well you should quizzed me that the PLANTES also adorn the NIGHGT SKY, we can see Mars, Venus Jupiter and more, sure I will agree, and sure the Quran will agree with any rational logic, we look on verse 6 we see the Quran telling us that Allah will put PLANETS in he sky to adorn it, but never you will see the Planets described as LAMPS, because they do not produce light on their own ?Lo! We have adorned the lowest heaven with an ornament, the planets;?, and in Arabic ? ? , the word ? ?, is the common Arabic word we use for ?Planets?

-> in the next verse Allah is telling us that He will guard the sky with SECURITY from the devil ?Jinn? or ?Shayateen? ?With security from every froward devil.? , and in Arabic ? ?

-> verse 8, Allah is telling us what sort of security has been implemented ?They cannot listen to the Highest Chiefs for they are pelted from every side,? , and in Arabic ? ?

-> verse 9 shows the punishment of those Jinn trying to break into the heaven security system ?Outcast, and theirs is a perpetual torment;? , and in Arabic ? ?

-> and finally in verse 10 we see the description of the security system using the meteors to hunt down the Jinn trying to break into it ?Except such as snatch away something by stealth, and they are pursued by a flaming fire, of piercing brightness? , and in Arabic ? ?, the word ? ?, is the common Arabic word we use for ?Meteors?

you will see in the Quran the moon and the planets were never been described as LAMPS but the stars and meteors will be described as LAMPS

            Peace

              Here is another bit brother

              041.012
YUSUFALI So He completed them as seven firmaments in two Days, and He assigned to each heaven its duty and command. And We adorned the lower heaven with lights, and (provided it) with guard. Such is the Decree of (Him) the Exalted in Might, Full of Knowledge.

Well let?s look at the Arabic verse

              (12)

-> we will see in this verse that YUSUFALI committed a silly mistake, however his mistake does not contradict the Quran rather contradict YUSUFALI himself, the verse here repeated the exact Arabic words used in verse 675, discussed earlier, here it is again

              067.005
YUSUFALI And we have, (from of old), adorned the lowest heaven with Lamps, and We have made such (Lamps) (as) missiles to drive away the Evil Ones, and have prepared for them the Penalty of the Blazing Fire.

              (5)

we can see clearly in the 2 verses ?4112 & 675? that this bit was repeated exactly ? ?, the Arabic word ? ?, which means ?LAMPS?, were translated by YUSUFALI in verse 4112 as ?LIGHT? and in verse 675 as ?LAMP?, well both will be ok with the Quran because Allah is telling us in this bit that the Sky is adorned, so wether with LIGHT is ok or wether with LAMPS is ok, the problem here with YUSUFALI to translate the same Arabic word in 2 different English words, that sure show that he can many mistakes in his translation

-> but looking at verse 4112 and we can see the consistency of the Quran by mentioning that protection system again ? and (provided it) with guard.?, the Quran actually used one Arabic word to describe that security system ? ? and that is the inimitability of the Quran

              Peace

I agree mostly with Muhammed Asad that it refers to Astrology. For the rest i'll not comment.
