    Salam,

Most of the Quran translation I read, translate ?Yan iq? in verse 2171 as ?CALL?, but in The Message it is translate as ?REPEATS?. Can anybody help me to clarify it?

THE MESSAGE And the example of those who reject is that who REPEATS 'Yan3iq' only what he hears of calls and sounds. Deaf, dumb, and blind; they do not understand"
YUSUFALI The parable of those who reject Faith is as if one were to SHOUT Like a goat-herd, to things that listen to nothing but calls and cries Deaf, dumb, and blind, they are void of wisdom.
PICKTHAL The likeness of those who disbelieve (in relation to the messenger) is as the likeness of one who CALLETH unto that which heareth naught except a shout and cry. Deaf, dumb, blind, therefore they have no sense.
SHAKIR And the parable of those who disbelieve is as the parable of one who CALLS out to that which hears no more than a call and a cry; deaf, dumb (and) blind, so they do not understand.
KHALIFA The example of such disbelievers is that of parrots who repeat what they hear of sounds and calls, without understanding. Deaf, dumb, and blind; they cannot understand.

    Regards.

      Peace bro

      (171)

2171 is a clear metaphor "obvious from the words "Wa Mathal", " "

the metaphor is about the Kafiroon "the unbelievers" that their call for their gods or whatever is like someone who is talking like a donkey that shout in an ugly and loud sound and no one cares about it,

why I said it is like a donkey?, because of the word " " , is associated in the Arabic langugae with the sound of the donkey, in fact the sound of the donkey is called "", however it is good enough to take it as someone who is calling in an ugly and loud voice

      peace

        Peace bro

I dicovered a mistake in my last comment and would like to fix it please

the word Na'eek means the sound of the OWL not the Donkey, the word Naheek is the sound of the the donkey and also the word Nakeek is the sound of the frogs

but the context stays the same it is the a verb meaning something is making sound, like calling but no one will care about it, exactly as the owls do at night

peace bro and sorry about the mistake

          Salam Ahmed,

Thanks for your reply. After thinking it for a few days, I decide to accept the free-minds translation because, if we read verse 2170, the verse talks about those who copy what their previous generation done.

And if they are told "Follow what God has sent down," they Say "No, we will follow what we found our fathers doing!" What if their fathers did not understand anything and were not guided? (2170)

And the example of those who disbelieve is like one who repeats what he has heard of calls and shouts; deaf, dumb, and blind, they do not understand. (2171)

          Regards.

fine bro, but i insist, that the translation of the word "Ynaaq" is 100% wrong by free minds

            salam

              Thanks for the reply Bro,

If we use yan?iq as ?call?, then we might have a problem. It can also mean that someone who calls other people, who do not want to listen, is also rejecter. What I?m trying to say is the caller is the rejecter.

For example, like if I call my friend to obey God and uphold the commitment and then he just ignore my call.

              Regards.

I'm sorry mate, you don't get it really, the verse is MOCKING those people as some sort of unhuman creatures which make sound all day long and no one respond to them tike the owels making sound at night and no one respond to them, as simple as this bro

the verse has nothing to do with calling, neither repeating, the verse is only mocking those people

in fact it is commonly known in the arabic culture when someone talks uselss crap in a loud manner is described as "Yen'aq" and we ask him/her to stop it and we say it as this "Ma Tena'aqsh"

                peace

                peace

Can you do me another favor? Can you help translate it for me literally word for word so that I may understand the verse?

                  Regards.

                    (171)

=>? ?, ?and the similitude of Kafiroon?,

=>? ?, ?is the same similitude of an animal?, please note ? ? here MUST indirectly means an animal because the verb that will come after is a verb to express an animal sound

=>? ?, ?make a sound?, and the word is used with owls and similar ones like ? ? which is used for donkey?s sound

=>? ?, ?to things that listens to nothing but calls and cries?, I believe it is referring to their statues that they took as idols or even any other Idols who has no power to respond to their calls and cries

=>? ?, ? Deaf, dumb, and blind?, I believe it is referring to the Kafiroon here not their idols

=>? ?, ? Therefore, they lack don?t understand?, again, I believe it is referring to the Kafiroon here not their idols

                    Peace
