    Peace,

In the arabic version of verse 20102, there is no "eye" in it, the color is describing the people not their eyes; as if they are blue of fear.

I have no idea why the translators have put "eye" in that verse.

    20102

    In arabic, "eye" is .

Yes the Arabic is clear and simple. The Quran explains itself.

      See

      Literal zurqa=blue or blind
And it tells this talks about the day of ressurection.
And the Quran gives the answer in another verse that talks about ressurection

20124"As for the one who disregards My message, he will have a miserable life, and we resurrect him, on the Day of Resurrection, blind."
20125 He will say, "My Lord, why did you summon me blind, when I used to be a seer?"

So the translation of 20102 is blind.

      Peace Arnold mol

what hadeeth create this generel mistranslation then?

IF there is tafsir that makes translaters make these insertions, this verse could be a strong point against the use of hadeeth at all.

        blue eyes = blind

this requires more than wishfull thinking, or bad scholarship.

        peace

          Peace

verse 20102 never mentioned an eye, neither being blind nor white color

it simply means the bad doers on the judgment day will turn blue from the horror

the color mentioned is 100% blue "Zorqa" and as far as i believe being horrified will turn most humans blue if not all

this is actually a very accurate verse describing a case of horror

          peace

                Salam,

                ? ? ? ? ? ? - 108 .

                ? ? 97.

I found the following when searching about glaucoma. In my local dialect we would call it "blue water on the eye".

                http//www.emedicine.com/oph/topic139.htm

Background The definition of glaucoma has changed drastically since its introduction around the time of Hippocrates (approximately 400 BC). The word glaucoma came from ancient Greek, meaning clouded or blue-green hue, most likely describing a patient having corneal edema or rapid evolution of a cataract precipitated by chronic elevated pressure. Over the years, extensive refinement of the concept of glaucoma has continued, accelerating, especially in the last 100 years, to the present date.

Currently, glaucoma is defined as a disturbance of the structural or functional integrity of the optic nerve that causes characteristic atrophic changes in the optic nerve, which may also lead to specific visual field defects over time. This disturbance usually can be arrested or diminished by adequate lowering of intraocular pressure (IOP). Nevertheless, some controversy still exists as to whether IOP should be included in the definition, as some subsets of patients can exhibit the characteristic optic nerve damage and visual field defects while having an IOP within the normal range. The generic term glaucoma should only be used in reference to the entire group of glaucomatous disorders as a whole, because multiple subsets of glaucomatous disease exist. A more precise term should be used to describe the glaucoma, if the specific diagnosis is known.
                Etc, etc , etc....

Maybe that is where the translators brought that meaning from.

Also for those who can read Arabic

Thank you Taj for the info posted

but what puzzles me is this, verse 2102 never mentioned the eye, it only said the bad people will turn blue as a whole entity

if the Quran says they will tirn blind then it is easy enough to understand that there eyes will be blind, because nothing elase in the body that can be blind

now the blind eye is not really blue, in fact its color is almost white

but we know that at sudden horror we will turn blue in color, i have seen it many times and is very common indeed

therefore i lean to believe that Allah meant the horror of that day that will turn the unbelievers blue, especially He mentioned that horror many times in the Quran

the eye being blue is actually a good thing as far as i know, i mean for the looks

                  Peace

                    Salam All,
                    Hi Ahmed, how are you?

True,, no mentioning of eye... so it has to be the colour of the body. The human body does turn blue if lacking Oxygen.. and more evidently in the face...
Al Mujrimeen the criminals will be gathered (Na7shuru) in Gathering Day, (the word in the Ayah is not resurrect Ba3th). Al Mujrimeen will be breathless.. They will not be able to catch up with all the escalating horror. The blood in their veins will be used up much quicker than they can take their breath...and so their bodies will, naturally, turn blue..

And look at the following word
                    http//qamoos.sakhr.com/openme.asp?fileurl=/html/7106179.html
Their low, weakened voices shows how stressed and breathless they are.

Interesting observation on the eye, ma sha Allah but I always understood the color (zarqan) in that verse to mean the color (blue) of the body (not eye) and that it is about the resurrection (with body). I don't know if you had a chance to look at a dead body but it turns blue-) before decomposition, so in my mind at the time of resurrection for those who did not make it directly to heaven because of their deeds, they will indeed look "blue" -) as a result of resurrection, raising from death.

And God the All-Mighty knows best. May HE have a mercy on us that day that we don't belong to this group. When I think about it, I start having palpitations from the fear of that day-).

                        Peace.Myr.

I always enjoy discussing the Quran with you, my only note would be, all of us then should be turned blue on that day, not the unbelievers only, and the verse was specific to the unbelievers, in another verse though it says that their faces will turn black in color

mate that day scares the hell of me already, and i totally believe that the blue color meant for the bodies not for the eye, but again Allah knows best

                          peace be with you

Not all of us. My understanding of resurrection in Quran is that not everybody will go through that process-). We do have examples in Quran of those believers who will make it directly to heaven or paradise (janah) at the time of their death without going through the resurrection and/or the time in the barzakh (intermediate state of death). I don't want to shift from the subject of this discussion but we can retrieve those verses that describe the joy of those who at the time of their death see paradise and rejoice at it. So with this understanding in mind that I think the verse in question we are studying would include everybody with the exception of what I call the true believers who will not experience the hardship of the resurrection day.
And God the All-MIghty knows best.

                            Peace. Myr.

I agree sister, i never suggested that the unbelievers will go through this horryfing ordeal, in fact the Quran says that the believers faces will look white in color from the joy, i agree that my comment sounded that way but it was put wrong that's all lol , but you have to realize many of the believers will also be worried at the start of judgment because it is a matter of good deeds out weighting the bad deeds after the faith is concluded a success, and sure most of us if not all "with the exception of the prophets" can't know what the deed balance will be, that is why everyone will recieve a book with all the deeds recorded in it and we will be enough to judge ourselves and even convict ourselves, the worried believers though will have something the unbelivers will never have on that Day, which is the mercy of Allah to forgive the many bad deeds

                              Peace
