    Peace loli.

My quick understanding (without having researched the verses in-depth).

The Qur'an, in its entirety, does espouse itself as a manual on how to not only create a balanced individual life but also a balanced society. With that context in mind, it becomes clear that this verse is about society. The verse refers to kinsmen, orphans, travellers, the needy, as well as God and the Messenger.

Why is that important? One could ask, like you have done, how one gives physical possessions/money to God. We can take this even further and ask how we can give physical possession/money to the Messenger, who is dead. Using common sense (the Qur'an urges us to use our intellect), a very reasonable interpretation is that we are to give this "booty" to what God and the Messenger stand for, i.e. the cause of God. What is the cause of God? Simple. It is what I mentioned in the first paragraph it is a just society that is balanced and that serves its members like a well-oiled machine.

We see the phrase "God and the Messenger" uttered many times throughout the Qur'an, especially in regard to following God and the Messenger, and the question can also be asked in reference to those verses how do I follow the Messenger, who is no longer alive. It is simple. You follow God and the Messenger by following the Message with us today. In connection with this verse, what does the Message tell us? It tells us to help the needy, the traveller, etc. Basically, it tells us how to become a better society. By trying to accomplish those ideals, we are in fact obeying God and the Messenger. We are in fact giving the "booty" to the God and the Messenger, in a very real way.

    Peace.

          peace loli,

So how do we give the spoils to to The God and the Messenger?

I think the concept of ?spoils of war? and its distribution has become obsolete with the passage of time, therefore it cannot be practiced in the present time.

However to give to those who are orphans, widows, destitute, needy etc is symbolically like giving to Allah.

5711-Who is he that will loan to Allah a beautiful Loan? For (Allah) will increase it manifold to his credit and he will have (besides) a liberal reward

          peace.

BIG QUESTION if no one minds....

            1. So...can war booty be wives of the dead enemies? Do you have to/can you enslave wives of the your dead enemies so that they can be your house slaves? Anything in the Quran prohibiting/permitting the enslaving of wives of your enemies? Or is the Quran silent on this issue.

If the answer is yes, then a bunch of other questions will follow. Please answer this because hadith gives me a huge misconception and evil thought about this.

Seriously, someone tell the truth about this.

                    Ugh...

Someone tell me the Quranic ruling of getting woman as booty of war. "Right hands possess" is referring to SLAVES, but CAN THEY BE WAR BOOTY OR NO? That is the question.

"Whatever the prophet prohibits for you (about spoils of war - this is not saying go read books of bs called hadith), abstain from it." So, WHAT does the prophet forbid when it comes to spoils of war? The only logical assumption is the wives of the people you've killed, of course unless they want to go with you. Why would you force women, who pretty much hate you for killing their husbands, into slavery and even worse, into becoming your sex slaves?!

Why is " /ghaneema" translated as "war booty"? This is not the original meaning. Lisanul 3arab, al Qamuus ul Muheet and al 3ain, all three classical dictionaries agree that it means Whatever you gain without effort. Maqaayeesul Lugha and Al 3ain go further as to make the word " sheep" the origine of this word , maybe because they are not expensive to raise and multiply. Does this apply to war spoils? Do you get them "without effort" or price?

In my opinion, it's whatever you gain, minus the effort and the price the profits.

It's a good site but, it still doesn't answer my question...

                          • Can wives of enemies be aquired as spoils of war? This seems like an evil to me. Besides, wy would they be considered spoils of war? Are they fighting on the battle field? Or is the typical Satanic Sunni belief invading the enemy's land and taking their homes and wives?

                          • Doesn't Quran say you can sleep with your wives and whom your right hands possess? Why would you in this case have to be married to who you have as slaves? Wouldn't it then just be "your wives?"

If you scan the qur'aan for MMA or/and azwaj, it says MMA OR your spouses. Nowhere will you find "your spouses AND MMA ", except in addressing the prophet and in a specific context.

                              What's MMA?

                              What would this be?

I'm still surprised no one knows if wives/women can be considered spoils of war or not..

MMA Maa Malakat Aymaanukum Wha your "right hand" possesses. I keep the original Arabic (abbreviation) because I do not wnat to translate it/explain it and I do not necesarily agree with the prevailing translation/s.

The verse in question does not have the word "war" in it. To think that "gahneema" is limited, or even related to war gains is wrong. Please refer to my first post on this thread.
