    Salaams all,

The wrong doers and their wives. Why the wives a wife could be Righteous?

Should it be the wrong doers and the partners they did fornication with or something?

So a zawaaj isn?t a wife but a partner married or unmarried.

Hatha yawmu alfasli allatheekuntum bihi tukaththiboona

(A voice will say,) "This is the Day of Sorting Out, whose truth ye (once) denied!"
    22.
Ohshuroo allatheena thalamoowaazwajahum wama kanoo yaAAbudoona

"Bring ye up", it shall be said, "The wrong-doers and their wives, and the things they worshipped-

    God Bless.

        Peace all,

        just an idea

may be this verse should be analysed together with the one saying that a hypocrite will always end up with an adulterer and vice versa...

there has been some discussion about this already on the forum

but these verses shouldn't be taken too directly, as far as i remember there also are verses saying "the believers and the righteous amoung their spouses...wil enter paradise..." which implies that sometimes, a believer is "married" to an unrighteous person... another proof for me that the reading shouldn't always be taken litterally and on first degree

Peace Elke. Very good point. Literalism can destroy or change the positive morality/meaning/spirit /message of the quran,or any other scripture/knowledge...

              Peace be upon you,

I think the companions being refered to are the false idols that humans fantasize about as being thier lords and saviors.

Hell is a mental state that starts right here. If you are obsessed with money, and you dont have any, your emotions will "burn you" without killing you instantly. Or if you have imagined some "god" like Jesus, you will just sit and WAIT for someone to save you and in the meantime life will continue to test you and since you are taught to WAIT instead of purifying your spirit(nafs) and transcending emotional responses, you will continue to fail the tests.
