    Peace Virtualeye,

    I do NOT agree!

    First things First!

One needs to get a control of his SOUL (NAFS), Then he will be guided and can go to spiritual highs with Quran, even if he reads from translation. That is HIS ALMIGHTY condition for us to decode the Quran and get to the ESSENCE OF THE MESSAGE.

So I am saying the language is not a hurdle to stand in the way.

    peace,.

I did not say that the language is hurdle. You could not understand my point still. A person who really understands the Arabic can know how perodicity of verses and their endings in every verse as well as its meaning, as well as its MOST appropriate usage of word according to contest. In Summery, The beauty of description, the manner of narration, the use of word. These thing involve the also. One part of quran is its message, the other is the manner of addressing by Allah. still did not get my point?

        Peace Virtualeye,

True what you say and the points that you make. Try to see my reply as an addition then.

My point is that by selecting the tools to approach Quran one needs to know

First another process in one?s SOUL should get started before he is allowed to benefit from the book. I am just trying to show the priorities and tools needed to approach Quran or other scriptures or the book of creation. One need to be awakend to touch the meaning.

        peace

          Salaam

Peace stilllearning. I agee with mr humble...What matters is how you yourself comprehend and reflect on knowledge...you dont necessarily need to learn or speak or understand arabic...God speaks in whatever language you speak,or the universal language of the 'heart'...

what matters is HOW YOU, YOURSELF, COMPREHENDS THE VERSE AND REFLECTS UPON IT.

          Agreed

Does that mean the message can't be conveyed to speakers of other languages?
If so then Quran has no relevancy to mankind...

            Regards,

              Regards,

Its meaning can be understood. But to give an example,,,if you have some amazing poetry in your native language, how will you convert that to other language 100% with same beauty and same balance of words???

This is just an example,,,,otherwise quran is not a poetry but something of higher virtue, when non-muslims listened to Quran in prophet's age , they thought these are really fascinating magical words (metaphorically)...but accepting Islam was a separate matter for them.

if one appreciates the beautiful usage of the language of the quran, then what's wrong with not accepting its message?

                perhaps disease in their hearts

                peace, rifat

if i have limited time , i would rather spend it on understanding of the divine
message rather than wasting time learning arabic and apriciating its poetry
(even infinite time may not be enough to grasp its wisdom in a complete sense)

Poetry tends to be cultural specific, Quran is meant for all mankind-not just those who speak arabic or understand arab culture. If you accept the logic of arabic only Quran then you have to go all the way and fully integrate yourself into arab culture as often many poetic words can only be understood by understanding the particular culture.
If Marx's work can be translated worldwide without apparent loss of meaning then so can the Quran

One can learn all the classical arabic they want and still not get the message. Another could read a poor translation and get it.

                        Chapter 56
                        77. This is an honourable Quran.
                        78. In a protected record.
                        79. None can grasp it except those pure.
                        80. A revelation from the Lord of the worlds.

Who teaches quran? Who reveals it?

Does "deaf, dumb and blind" refer to non-arab speaking/understanding people only?

                        Salaam Zein,

                        I agree with u 100% on this )

The one who wants to be guided will be guided for sure.

I feel ill when people always says that u must understand arabic language for knowing the message.

                        Peace Maria
