how do i start arabic from scratch??

i found out that in order to undertand the "root" of the quran, it is necessary to learn arabic... i asked phoenix1 about this while he told me i didn't need to... but it appears that it is necessary since some of the "terms" and "concepts" are still under research like the issue of salat, and hajj = debate not pilgrimage...
if i tell you that i have knowledge even the knowledge equivilant to that of an atom concerning how the quran works, and i have no knowledge about the arabic language , then what is the easiest way for me to start learning arabic?
so when i know enough arabic, god willing, i could study quran from its originallity/ directly without translaiton.
i found out that even those who speak native arabic, they still argue that khimar = hijab in verse 2431 i find this quite puzzling...
i also find it interesting that some arabic terms have more than 100 meanings? is that true? no wonder the the quran could be used as a "great defense"
i know the arabic letters, but could someone tell me how do i start learning the real language for free in the internet? it is necessary for me to further my study on the quran. so i could verify the quran not with my own eyes, with not the analysis of others(even though they are accurate and true) as an extra support.

You cannot learn it for free on the net, on the net you can only find free resources but not things that will teach you arabic. I can send you some programs that can give a start and then you also have to find a person in your area to help you, then together with that person you must find an english-arabic home course. PM if you want the programs....

i just read some opening pages of this site www.emuslim.com/quran/lughat.asp , then started reading the Koran's arabic text side-by-side with the translation , and a dictionary . slow and steady . so far so good . -

You cannot learn to become an Arabic Scholar for free on the net, nor can you learn to become a fluent Arabic speaker for free on the net. But we are not talking about achieving neither one of those things. Rifat's goal is to learn to Read and understand one specific document that has only about 2000 select vocabulary words and which only makes use of certain grammatical structures. For that purpose, he can learn it for free on the internet. It's just a matter of visiting the various useful sites and putting the correct elements together into one overall program that he's comfortable with.

If you decide to make use of the information at this site ignore the vocabulary and word lists since they are words that are not in the qur'aan. However, you may find some of the grammatical and structural explanations somewhat helpful.Peace,

Absolutely. Now just think for a moment that if the Creator of the heavens and the earth and everything within and eveything beyond, the almighty, the omniscient, the omnipresent, the gracious, the mercifiul can relate a message in multiple meanings of the same word in a man-made book, what do you think the outcome would be???

thanks, hopefully, these sources will help. don't you have to take into account those litearal meanings in the quran? allegories, metaphors etc... i mean the combination of words that you are unfamiliar with really confuses the reader, and that is why quranic translation varies. agreed?
