Yet another thread that for some reasons reminds me of Hooray For Hollywood feat.the awfull trumpet of Harry Arms.

Ah and sugar, if I'm not mistaken, it is Danish who thinks someone, possibly a man named Mohamed who wrote it. So I was referring to his allegations not yours lol

      peace all

      lol

I assumed you misinterpreted what i said (like Danish did) and after i explained what i meant i assumed you still misinterpreted me (or took what i said out of context) so i was kinda annoyed voodoo, i apologize for sounding rather impolite when i was replying to your post. peace

Danish loves to quote a website called 'suralikeit' in order to show believers in the divinity of al-quraan that people had come up with some discourses better than al-quraan. The problem is, he himself can't read that page D

That site is blocked on my computer, but is it in Arabic or something? Do you understand Arabic?

      peace,
      sugar

Yes, the surahs are in Arabic along with their translations/transilerations. One of them is given below and the pic (in Arabic) is at the bottom of this page.

        Sura Al-Usfoor

        Translation
        (1) And We set forth parables for men in order that they may remember

        (2) The parable of a smart bird is that of a smart bird which beheld the first signs of winter so he migrated to the south seeking abundant warmth

(3)And the parable of a gullible dumb bird is that of a gullible dumb bird which beheld the first signs of winter so he closed his eyes and went to sleep delightfully

(4)And as we ordered the winds to blow and the thunder to peal and surround him with a shivering cold

(5)He took off seeking the warmth of the south but your Lord has the greatest judgment

        (6) And We caused the rain to fall from above him with plenty of water.

        (7) And then we decided to disable him from flying

( And caused him to fall to the ground then gave him a feverish shivering

        (9) He fell down and your Lord is most knowing where he fell, he fell near a female camel We have over fed

        (10) And there the camel emptied what was in her belly over him and so he was covered by her dung

        (11) He said My mother was not happy with my lifestyle otherwise my life would not have ended this way

        (12) But as soon as her dung warmed up his body he began shaking happily and joyfully

        (13) The bird began singing and there heard him a cat that your lord had sent to accomplish a mission that was predetermined

        (14) He removed the dung from over him and the bird was very happy

        (15) But the cat ate him and the punishment of your Lord was very great

        (16) Those who believe and do good works should learn from what We have recited three morals that you may remember

        (17) That you should not consider those who throw dung on you as your enemies for there may be in their dung benefits for you while you do not know

(1 That you should not consider those who remove the dung from over you as your friends for there may be harm to you while you are blinded (not knowing the reason behind their action)

        (19) And that if you were in a warm place even if your cover was nothing but dung you should be satisfied with your haven and you should not speak or walk on earth showing off your satisfaction that you may be safe.

That the challenge of the Quran to bring a surah LIKE IT (similar) cannot be met (emphasis in bold). Are you still bickering and cringing about the fact that it has been met?

                  Peace,

A surah contains more then just simple rhyme, it also contains wisdoms and truths. Plus the Quran is not build on simple rhyme, but on rythems which form a state of being when reciting. But this is ignored and there is only foccused on the rhyme, which shows their ignorance.

You mean just like the scribes (men) ?back then? who collected narrations of Muhammad and compiled them in a book form. If you think all history is dubious, then what is left out of this book you call Quran written over 1400+ years ago, yet blindly accepting the historical events mentioned therein just because it says so?

I did not say all history is dubious (though I am certainly suspicious of it).

                    Speaks for itself.

My point was you assume that someone "back then" was automatically correct simply because he/she lived "back then"; you then accuse us of twisting meanings of the verses to fit today's perspectives.

And my point is that you assume that everyone (or someone) "back then" was automatically incorrect simply because he/she lived "back then"; you then accuse yourself of twisting meanings of the verses to fit today's perspectives. Got it, doc.? So what's next, where do you go from here, doc? Just blindly believe in one book and disregard all others simply because one is accurate while all others are not, just because one story became Allah's words while the same story written in other books became "suspicions"? It boils down to "because one book says so because Allah says because this book says so" and you can't get pass through this.

Could not those people "back then" have done the same thing you accused us of? Could not someone in 9th century Spain (where, with or without the Qur'an, he probably lived in a culture where hand-chopping was common) have also "twisted meanings of the verses" to fit their perspective?

Hah, by your reasoning above, then all those scribes of "back then", who put the Quran together, become "suspicious". So how are you going to prove that all those scribes who put the Quran together are absolutely correct?

You obviously are beguiled to accept the Quran AS IS because of your extreme denial, blind belief and superimposed framework of mind to believe that a man-made written book came floating down from thin air and viola, became Allah?s Words.

You do not know why I accept the Qur'an. A word to the wise try not to assume so much; it's unbecoming of you. K pal?

Then why are YOU making all sorts of assumptions.

And btw, what makes you think I can't eat my own cake? ???

You are free to eat as much of your cake as you want. Just don't get engorged with your own arrogance and presumptions, as it's not too healthy. How's that for reading vital signs?

Likewise. Don't make your arrogant nature control you by a make-belief of a man-made written historical book coming out of thin air.

Mq there's no need to humiliate the guy by asking him questions you already know the answer to. rotfl

Gillian McKeith (a VERY famous nutritionist) has a fascination with poo as well. She DEMANDS a poo sample from ALL her clients. She even said in an interview even when she was a child she enjoyed looking at people's poo.

(3)And the parable of a gullible dumb bird is that of a gullible dumb bird which beheld the first signs of winter so he closed his eyes and went to sleep delightfully

Now that bird is just plain lazy! not "gullible and dumb". i'm like that too! when i was at school i used to sit and stare out of the window in my maths lesson pretty much the whole lesson. My maths teacher thought I was "dumb" and "extremely gullible" if i thought i could get a basic pass if i did not do any work in that lesson. But i was just plain lazy and i left with a grade that was considered acceptable.

birds typically do not hibernate, instead using torpor, but a rare bird known as the "Poorwill" does hibernate. I am VERY disappointed your surah ignored that fact (

Are you still bickering and cringing about the fact that it has been met?

i'm still not convinced. Post another one.

I know the statement i made about verse 3 of that surah is just "nit picking" but c'mon when claiming it is a 'surah like it' i expect NOTHING less then perfect. I know you can pick up inaccuracies like that in the Quran but nothing you can say is something that cannot be answered by simply picking another translator....

In the past whenever i mentioned any inaccuracies/contradictions that i had brought forward in the past, i had been proven wrong by other people. I finally gave up trying to prove the errors in the Quran coz i knew that i was wrong, not the Quran. So I have decided to stop challenging the Quran as much, if something bugs me I wont keep my mouth shut. The amount of times i had been proven wrong made me realise that trying to understand the Quran is not something that could be done overnight. The wisdom in the Quran is a miracle on it's own, every time i read the Quran i know that it could never be authored by anyone other then God, no matter how unbelievers try to "belittle" it.

4/82 Do they not reflect on the Quran? If it was from any other than God they would have found it very different. (Freeminds translation)

Wasn't one surah enough for your alleged Allah Words as mentioned in the Quran? Can GOD challenge a MAN? If you need more info, go to a library or use someone else's computer (if yours is blocked) and do your own research.

                            Speaks for itself.

Of course it does. For someone like you who thinks in soundbytes and brief blurbs, things are always black and white. Must be convenient.

My point was you assume that someone "back then" was automatically correct simply because he/she lived "back then"; you then accuse us of twisting meanings of the verses to fit today's perspectives.

Show evidence of my assumption. Where did I assume that those "back then" are automatically incorrect simply because they lived back then? Evidence please. I never said such a thing. All I said was your claims apply to everyone; you can't say those back then were automatically correct and we're now automatically wrong. Similarly, I cannot say those back then we're automatically wrong and we're now automatically right. We have to rise above such ideas, and instead look at the evidence.

And again, I advise you to assume less I never told you why I believe in the Qur'an's divinity. Where did I use circular reasoning? Where have I ever said I believe in the book cause God says because the book says so? Evidence please (<---evidence is always the toughest part for you, isn't it? )

Then why are YOU making all sorts of assumptions.

                            Yawn. Evidence of assumptions please.

Likewise. Don't make your arrogant nature control you by a make-belief of a man-made written historical book coming out of thin air.

                            Appreciate the concern.

Hah, by your reasoning above, then all those scribes of "back then", who put the Quran together, become "suspicious". So how are you going to prove that all those scribes who put the Quran together are absolutely correct?

Sorry Danish, I missed this part of your post above.

I am suspicious of all history, since, it is by nature biased through the lens of the writer. History is written by the victors, no?

Anyway, the preservation of the Qur'an is quite a different matter. I only say this because (in my opinion) there is other evidence for its preservation (scientific and mathematical evidence). Interestingly enough, this directly relates to the "sura like it" challenge. You believe the challenge to mean "all I have to do is find some Arabic prose with an interesting rhyme scheme and I've met the challenge." I see it as much more than that, because the Qur'an is miraculous in other aspects.

This is a question I cannot answer except by giving my own opinion. So at the end of the day, our philosophies of religion differ.

To Danish, God is above and beyond a book. Ok, well there you go. Nothing I can say can make him see what I see.

To me, seperating God from his messages is kufr. It doesn't mean the guy doing it will be a bad guy, it just means he's closing himself off to a source of guidance.

Danish, if you want to challenge al-quraan's infallibility, i'll take you on. If not and you just want to assert your philosophy of religion, well that's your call. Peace.

the argument isn't whether we should follow God's message or not, but whether the Quran is God's personal message to man or not. Why don't we focus on that instead?

Doc, you are running out of words and all you do is circling around your own statements in various fashions each time you post back; and my replies will be pretty much the same over and over again. Look, if you are fond of circumventing, the good place for you would be at Kaba in Mecca.

Doc, let us cut the chase and tell me why you believe that the Quran is Allah?s Words?

I am suspicious of all history, since, it is by nature biased through the lens of the writer. History is written by the victors, no?

By your statement above, would you say that the history mentioned in the Quran is also written by victors and hence suspicious? Please explain?

you can't say those back then were automatically correct and we're now automatically wrong. Similarly, I cannot say those back then we're automatically wrong and we're now automatically right. We have to rise above such ideas, and instead look at the evidence.

If all history is suspicious to you, then what evidence are you going to look at? Let us take the story of Noah mentioned in the Quran. Now tell me what evidence do you have to support its validity and why, knowing that a written book tells us to use our mind, eyes and ears and to verify information?

You believe the challenge to mean "all I have to do is find some Arabic prose with an interesting rhyme scheme and I've met the challenge." I see it as much more than that, because the Qur'an is miraculous in other aspects.

Why the hesitance? Ah, the EXTREME DENIAL!!! Besides, I can say the same thing about the ?challenged surahs? as being miraculous in other aspects, when read and understood properly. Did you notice the truth and wisdom in it or would you simply cherry pick the word ?dung? and sleep on it like the 'prophet of doom' did?

I'd love to. The problem is Danish doesn't even know why I believe al-quraan. Did you see the imaginary conversation he posted (the one where I believe in al-quraan because Allah says so. How do I know Allah says so, because al-quraan says so !!) ? That slander betrayed the fact that Danish doesn't know. He is in fact, groping in the dark and posting a dung-filled sura is proof of this.

                                        Peace,

Also the fact is ignored that the Quran is not simple prose, but has a rhytem and contingency that even non-muslims acknowledge as being amazing. The high and low tones, places where the tone must lengthened are extremely difficult to copy. And then also do this with the information as in the Quran. This has not been accomplished with his dung-surah.

DanishDoc, let us cut the chase and tell me why you believe that the Quran is Allah?s Words?

Funny that you're asking him now when you've made assumptions before already.

By your statement above, would you say that the history mentioned in the Quran is also written by victors and hence suspicious? Please explain?

Al-quraan says that in it contains YOUR mentioning. Therefore, we're not looking at his-story but OUR story.

If all history is suspicious to you, then what evidence are you going to look at? Let us take the story of Noah mentioned in the Quran. Now tell me what evidence do you have to support its validity and why, knowing that a written book tells us to use our mind, eyes and ears and to verify information?

Good question but for a guy with such arrogance, one wonders how he doesn't know the answer to this. I guess it was because he was so busy mouthing off he didn't actually read al-quraan itself.

The stories in al-quraan are called 'ibratun lil ulil albaab' (archetypes for people of the core) and are said to be 'fil afaaq wa fil anfushim' (in our horizons and in our own selves). They are not meant for an Indiana Jones like adventure for you to go seek out some old boat somewhere.

Live the life of Nuh, and you will see al-haqq comes to life.

Why the hesitance? Ah, the EXTREME DENIAL!!! Besides, I can say the same thing about the ?challenged surahs? as being miraculous in other aspects, when read and understood properly. It is a matter of personal view, sadly. Your dung-sura doesn't tell us why it's the word of Allah. Can you tell us perhaps? Does your creator love dung a lot?
