I'm a true "stoked_youth" now!

Peace
I am very new to this "GOD alone" concept, thank god that now I picked this path I am a much better person.
I was born and raised in a sunni family. Of course, I learned everything about "Islam" in my childhood. I learned that I have to pray 5 times a day and if I miss any of it, my chance of getting into heaven is in jeopardy. I also learned that "Islam" is such a complex religion. But I have always questioned this "Islam", a religion who claim that Women are less in status to Men, and the one that claims adulterer should be punished by stoning to death, a religion that seems so alien and exclusive to the Arabs. You see, I always have quran, but they're always the arabic only version cause they're the most popular versions.
In the last few years, especially since I moved to New Zealand, I found that if I want to follow this "Islam" I have to sacrifice my life with it. Thank God, He didn't leave me astray for long. I bought a translated version of quran and studied it. Not long after, I found this site through a quite extensive research I've done about Islam.
Now as I stated before, I feel like a much better person. Now I feel God closer to my heart than ever. Because now I know that Islam is not an "Arabic thing", it's a way of life. Thank God.
Peace and Kia Ora

Salaam,
Welcome to the forum, congratulations for making the step many Muslims are too scared or ignorant to take themselves for fear of what others will think of them. I totally agree with you, Islam is NOT an exclusive Arab thing. It makes me laugh when I see "Muslims" running around in traditional Arab garments, yet have never been there or have any Arab heritage.
I wish you and everyone else here the best on their path to God.
Peace,
Stitch

Salaam,
Thanks for the support guys! sun
Honestly, it's now so much easier for me to be lawful. It's never been easier for me to resist the temptation of eating pork, or to be nice to my parents. God has never been so closer to me.
I guess the "moral" of my "story" is "If you want to find God (by using common sense and prayer), then God will find you"Again, thanks guys!
