Peace all. In the quran allah is called Al-Haqq or the truth. Does this mean that our purpose (quranically speaking,as in...5156,etc...) is to serve truth? Does this make open-minded scientists excellent believers?
Does the muslim declaration 'there is no god but allah' mean; There is no god (guide.) but truth?
Does this understanding fit in with the verses of the quran?
Does this fit in with the command to reject illusions and falsehood? ( bad jinns/iblees,etc...)

Enquirer, I would humbly suggest that you study this concept of al-haqq (not truth but the ultimate truth) in the contexts provided by the text. If you look at 22/5-6 for example, you will find the phrase 'dhalika bianna Allah, huwa al-haqq...' after a description of physical realities which occur in the human reality.

While scientists believe in empirical truth, some of them reject metaphysical truth, denying the inner insights which mystics tend to accept. So no, I wouldn't put my money with them, so to speak.

Does the muslim declaration 'there is no god but allah' mean; There is no god (guide.) but truth?

Ilah or 'god' doesn't mean guide. Haadi means 'guide' and Allah is al-haadi. Confining Allah to just al-haqq would make one guilty of 'ilhaad' (see 7/180, the act of disrupting the perfect balance of the asmaaul husna).

Does this understanding fit in with the verses of the quran?

In my view, not very well.

Does this fit in with the command to reject illusions and falsehood? ( bad jinns/iblees,etc...)

      That it does.

        Peace Enquirer and all,

an illusion for someone can be the reality for others persons and the the reality for someone can be an illusion for others persons.

Can you explain what is your definition of reality?

Peace bilal76. Yes,i agree with your statement 100% about some peoples reality being other peoples illusions.
My definition of reality might be an illusion for others...
My definition of reality,is briefly; 'Something that can be verified personally beyond reasonable doubt, and has some objectivity to it as well'... eg we need food to live...
My definition is not perfect, may contain mistakes and is not complete...
There are probably many layers/grades of reality....In reality i like noodles, but this may not be applicable universally, yet is definately true/reality for me....
Reality can have a subjective realm, and an objective realm...
However im not a moral relativist...and i believe some things are universally real, (even if others dont view it as real.) Eg hurting people for no reason is in reality wrong...
peace all. ps;this is a very interesting topic (reality.),and deserves another thread...

                Peace enquirer and all,

How can we reject illusions and falsehood if it is not a universal concept?

in function of the beliefs, the truth and illusions are not the same.

God is one...Truth must be one too

Peace bilal76. I believe some illusions/falsehoods are universal, and so are some truths....
It would be interesting to list a number of universal truths, and a number of universal falsehoods...
eg helping children is universally true...
And harming people for no reason,is universally bad...
                  peace all.

                    Peace all,

i don't really get the point of the discussion here

                    helping children is universally true...
And harming people for no reason,is universally bad...

wouldn't good and bad be more approriate here, than true and bad ?

And in general Allah is called many names in the quran so it's not just about truth. We had threads going on here about "living up" to the divine traits of caracter of the god as described by the names of god contained in quran

                          Peace enquirer,

who makes the normality and the limits of universal values?
Who decide if an action is acceptable as human or inhuman?

Peace bilal76. we humans decide, with the benefit of experience, knowledge, and verification of practical consequences.....The quran or god talks to us through the filter of our 'intelligence'......If it is said the quran or god decide, then why all the disagreements on basic principles...? Have we not the intelligence to decide what is right or wrong?...If not, then how can we say the quran is right or wrong, unless we believe in it without verification?

                              Peace

It's more than a matter of what's right and what's wrong. I'd think many people understand what right and wrong is, but knowing does not entail that one will act in the right. People lie frequently, knowing it is wrong, especially white lies. Sure one may know that helping out the less fortunate is a good thing, but how many want to give freely of their own stock to help another? Besides, in my opinion, many of the injunctions of the quran are not meant for everyone, except s/he who takes on its principles.
