Assalam Alekium Brother,
Your words of kindess and intent for the right way are taken to heart by me, the Quran is what I answer to, what I look to, where I place my faith, not in man, not in Imams, not in Sunni, or Shia. But where God asked me to look. I agree with you on all that you wrote, and like you, see the logic of it all. It pains me deeply to have someone who was my bestfriend and only true love of my life, turn their back on me, and punish me for my beliefs. I feel so sad inside that my new marriage of only a month, has turned to poision. My husband, may God forgive him, has dictated and created a hostile marriage and environment for me,for believing what I do. He follows the hadiths and has them all displayed in our livingroom. He even told me the majority of people in hell are women. It has made me afraid of him, and devastated that someone I love has become a tyrant. And I feel so helpless and despaired that my marriage will end in divorce, because he will not allow me to live my life according to the Quran alone.
Please pray for me...
HonorAs salamu alaykum.
Respectfully.I'll pray for you, do not worry.
Allah will protect you.
You just rely on Allah. As salamu alaykum.

may god's guidance be upon you sister,
to tell you the truth, i had a similar problem with my family... if you can prove to your husbend that quran alone is the path which brings you happiness "within" then you are all set... just think about what you can do to improve relationships...
i could not prove to my family that quran alone is enough... BUT I PROVED IT TO MYSELF... off course, issues such as salat, and "5 pillars" are what i ignore... because i feel that by the will of god , someday i will find a certainty within these issues...my family doesn't believe me...
i know that strict islam is not the correct way to interpret the quranshow these verses to your family
"Shall I seek other than God as a judge when He has sent down to you this Scripture fully detailed?" Those to whom We have given the Scripture know it is sent down from your Lord with truth; so do not be of those who have doubt. (6114)
why do you follow quran alone? just ask yourself then tell your family how you feel and why my life would be beneficial if i stop following strict hadith... in the quran allah says he brings ease to his people, not hardship... if that is the case, then why would god set up a shariah which is impossible to follow through prophets and imams? the best approach to finding god alone is to avoid evil and vice... how will you do that use your god-gifted senses to figure that out to find why you should follow certain laws and why you should avoid certain laws... for example if you have doubts on an islamic law, do some research...(the dog issue)
i told my mother that i never felt satisfied that i could learn about god alone myself through my own innovation... i shal establish myself as a citizen who contributes towards betterment for the future of humanity and the betterment of our society... that is my interpretation of god alone
may allah bless you, peace, rifat

Peace sister
There is a hadith that I read before but for about 2 weeks now i can't find it, too many hadith to go through, anyway the hadith is simply the answer to your husband
it states that the prophet told his companions that after his death many will come and say things about him that he supposdly said but he never said it, the companions were upset and questioned him how they can know the true hadith by him from the fake one, the prophet replied by telling them that they should compare it with the Quran, if the Quran qualifies it then he said it, if not then he never said it
I'm still looking for that hadith as this is one hell of an argument against the sunni cult
Salam

peace Honor,
all I'm going to say is that you should not follow a religion, or the Quran alone, but follow GOD alone.
I'm not saying anything against the Quran, but today, because of mistranslations and what not, people get the wrong idea about things and accept them as God's will. Always use your logic and reasoning, they are God's greatest gift to us. If you read something in the Quran that you are uneasy with, be sure to talk about it here, some enlightened individuals can clear a lot of things for you, and we can all learn.
Just remember that whatever the Quran teaches us, is for us only. It's for our benefit. God doesn't need or want anything from us. -

HonorSalamun 'alaikum sis,
I pray for you sis. May Allah strengthen your belief. It is the sunnah of Allah that He will put us to a test.
3186 You shall most certainly be tried in your possessions and in your persons; and indeed you shall hear many hurtful things from those to whom revelation was granted before your time, as well as from those who have come to ascribe divinity to other beings beside God. But if you remain patient in adversity and conscious of Him - this, behold, is something to set one's heart upon.
292 DO MEN THINK that on their saying, "We have attained to faith", they will be left to themselves, and will not be put to a test?
6414 O YOU who have attained to faith! Behold, some of your spouses and your children are enemies unto you so beware of them! But if you pardon and forbear, and forgive-then, behold, God will be much-forgiving, a dispenser of grace.

Salaam Honor,
I hope and pray that things get better for you ASAP, it worries me that you are in such a difficult situation.
Please forgive my questions as I wish to ask you about the statements I have highlighted above, of which there is no doubt are causing you stress.
If he was your 'best friend' and the 'love of your life', surely you knew his view on Islam/Quran/hadith beforehand? How long had you known each other before getting married? It sounds like he has completely turned into a different character during this month in which you have been married, that seems very odd. Please forgive me for asking; but how did this happen exactly? It is difficult to understand that one moment he is your 'best friend' and the 'love of your life', then he becomes a 'tyrant'?
I will pray for you.
Peace,
Stitch

Salaam honor
i sympathize with you. I hope things turn out better for you... This is a test. Remember everything in life is a test, for God must test you for your truthfulness. And he must expose the hypocrites. But, if you believe your husband to be an idol-worshipper you cannot pray for his forgiveness. God called out Abraham for making that mistake
A good example has been set for you by Abraham and those with him. They said to their people, "We disown you and the idols that you worship besides GOD. We denounce you, and you will see nothing from us except animosity and hatred until you believe in GOD ALONE." However, a mistake was committed by Abraham when he said to his father, "I will pray for your forgiveness, but I possess no power to protect you from GOD." "Our Lord, we trust in You, and submit to You; to You is the final destiny.

Peace honor,
Sex is a natural way for certain species to survive and continue their existence in this world. Love that you have towards your husband is part of nature's way to ensure the survival of species to take place.
By nature of love itself, it should also lead you to a peaceful experience in this world when you share it with the right partner.
As human, nothing much we can do in regards to this nature's law. But with our ability to reason, we can eliminate the possibilities of having miseries in our life by eliminating the possible cause of the problems.
Now, in your case, with clear mind and sound judgment, you should think carefully whether it's worth the effort to correct the position of your partner so that you and him are more compatible, and benefit from healthy relationship based on love.
I fully support your intention to get some help to correct the situation. By all means necessary, please take this serious efforts that can help you to solve the problem. But always bear in mind that to live your life in a meaningful ways is always a decision that you can (and have to) decide on your own.
Make the right choice before it is too late.
Peace.

There is no middle path in this unfortunally. The behaviour he shows is so rooted in him, that it will be hard to convince him of anything. And the fact that youre a woman does not make your position any easyer. I have a good sunni freind whom i think treats his wife terribly because of hadith, because in his mind, being like that makes him a good man. He thinks that his role as a protector means that he has to be "evil cop", the patriachial father, rather than the equal freind, who is bigger and stronger thus has the role of protector.
He talks to her like i would talk to my teenage daughter if she had crossed the line of reason. This is his wife we are talking about. The most tragic thing is that he is a sweet caring man, and i know that he loves her.But he is the direct reason she is not exploring a more quran or even God alone approach, because she loves him back. And she is constantly convinced by the cult, that hadith has outlined what she has to put up with, so she puts up with it. She is a convert like you btw. When i first met her she really honestly wanted to serve God. She had converted to Islam a couple of years earlyer, but had a really bad experience with a group of pesky shiah muslims, that treated her ill, and at the same time proudly bore her around as an item of the "victory of islam".
She had some really healthy views, and I did nothing not to nourish them. My freind was completely taken by her, her intelligence, her natural sweetness, and after talking on the phone for some 3weeks, they got married. And then stuff started to change. Suddenly she was dressed up like a ninja, and actually argued that she was less intelligent than men. I was gobsmacked, but its their marriage, and it seems to work. But i can see in her eyes that she is not happy, something in her has died. She has submitted, but i belive it is to the wrong one, and for the wrong reasons. To a sunni man, you can be his freind, no problem. But when you become his wife, you become his property. And some, not all, take this over the edge.
You dont have to put up with anything he wouldnt want to put up with, except giving birth. This is a case where you need to think long sighted, and put feelings play second role. You can keep thinking it will get better, but what would make it better? A drastic change in his views, and hand on your heart. Do you honnestly belive that will happen?

You are opening a can of worms with this. Here is a conversation that will happen
Who do we serve? our fathers? our husbands? our prophets?
2132 And Abraham enjoined his sons and Jacob "O my sons, God has selected the system for you, so do not die except as ones who have submitted."
2133 Or were you present when death came to Jacob and he told his sons "Who shall you serve after I am gone?", they said "Your god, and the god of your fathers Abraham, and Ishmael, and Isaac; One god and to Him we submit."ohhh...our God alone! So now the hadith will be introduced, and you will say
2170 And if they are told "Follow what God has sent down," they Say "No, we will follow what we found our fathers doing!" What if their fathers did not understand anything and were not guided?
The answer will be, but the prophet said...and its loops over and over and over. There is no way in to these people, and you know why. At the core of it, this is about trusting nobody but God as guide in your life. Whatever else you do, and even trusting God, is between you and God, as long as you do not make malice in the community.

Does it say anywhere in the Quran, not the hadiths, that the following are forbidden? And if so, can you send me the chapter and verse? I am having very very horrible misery at home, my husband whom I just married is Sunni, and I am too, or so I thought, I am an American Convert. But I only follow and beleive in the Quran. My husband, makes me so miserable and forces me to abide by rules in the hadiths, that I want some evidence they are not in the Quran. Also, does anyone know how I might save my marriage, by getting an Imam who follows the Quran, and is not brainwashed to follow the hadiths, to speak with me and my husband? Is there any Imam out there that is verifiable and can help me??
Forbidden???
Dogs as pets and in home
Women wearing perfume outside the home
Certain kinds of Art such as pictures of animals etc, and photos of family and loved ones in the home
Children wearing clothes with pictures on them such as animals
Playing music and instrumentsthe things mentioned above are not forbidden .
Girls cannot learn ballet or other forms of dance or play sports, like swimming and sports in which she has to wear shorts
i think dancing is not allowed for women ,because of this verse
2431 ...and that they should not strike their feet to make known what they hide of their beauty. ...

Dogs as pets and in home
Look at sura 18 where the dog was with the people of the cave. They believe dogs scares away angels, but God says in the Quran angels are ALWAYS with you 24/7. So there is no reason to believe dogs are not allowed. Also cats are the favorite animals of the Prophet the hadiths say, so he is rejecting his own hadith then.
See some good answers about having dogs on this thread

Women wearing perfume outside the home
This is not forbidden in the Quran, but he will listen to some scholar opinions about this one. The best way for now, i believe, is to show the contradictions of certain believes like the view on dogs is wrong as shown above, and the idea about images clearly contradicts the Quran.
Certain kinds of Art such as pictures of animals etc, and photos of family and loved ones in the home
Children wearing clothes with pictures on them such as animalsThe Quran clearly says that Solomon used his God given gifts to build statues and make images
3413 They worked for him as he desired, making forts, sculptures and images, pools, and boilers well-dug into the ground. We said, ?Labor O Children of David, in gratitude for what you have been given. Few of My servants are truly grateful in practice.?
Playing music and instruments
Also not forbidden in the Quran, but you can quote 6112 to 116, that clearly says all laws have been given in the Quran.
Girls cannot learn ballet or other forms of dance or play sports, like swimming and sports in which she has to wear shorts
The problem with this attitude is, that they forget that the only the wives of the prophets and the believers were ordered to dress in a certain way. Young girls are not women. So this clearly violates the Quran by saying girls also fall under these laws.
I hope he will listen you, i pray for you.
Peace

I found the explanation in this forum, but could not remember where exactly
Q2431
... awi alttabiAAeenaghayri olee al-irbati mina alrrijali awi alttifliallatheena lam yathharoo AAala AAawratialnnisa-i wala yadribnabi-arjulihinna liyuAAlama ma yukhfeena min zeenatihinnawatooboo ila Allahi jameeAAan ayyuhaalmu/minoona laAAallakum tuflihoonayadribnabi-arjulihinna come from yadrib/darab which means "move, separate, being apart, to put a distance" and can be seen its usage in Qur'an eg 434, 494 ,4101, 14 45 , 3927 , 3793 etc.
Biarjulihin/Rijla means legs.
Whereby ayat for Feet is qadam.
Hence the word "not to strike thier feet" is not the right understanding to the context of the message.
Peace.

Although God declares that Quran is FULLY DETAILED, & shall be the only source, the majority of Muslims have been duped into following the conjecture known as Hadith & Sunna.
While Quran is proven by PHYSICAL EVIDENCE to be the authentic and unaltered word of God (see the book, "QURAN VISUAL PRESENTATION OF THE MIRACLE", Hadith and Sunna are unanimously recognized as conjecture.
"Shall I seek OTHER THAN GOD as a source of law, when He has revealed THIS BOOK FULLY DETAILED? ....The word of your Lord is COMPLETE, in truth and justice. Nothing shall abrogate His words; He is the hearer, the omniscient. Yet, if you obey the majority of people, they will take you away from the path of God. That is because they follow CONJECTURE, and they fail to think." (6114116)
"They insist upon following conjecture, when the guidance is given to them herein from their Lord." (5323)
Pray to Allah Almighty for him.
