rotfl phoenix your post made me laugh!

no phoenix i would not believe in a prophet after Muhammad.

Phoenix do you know the difference between prophet and a messenger?

i have been told that i've got a traditional mindset when it comes to messengers, but if god sent such incompetent messengers i don't think that i would even bother with his system. Having said that I wish god did send another scripture. Historically a languge changes so radically in 500 years to a point where nobody can understand any of it, the Quran is 1400 years old!! And we know that many meanings of the words have been distorted. We are no better off then the earlier generation of people that have had their scriptures distorted thus they cannot understand what God wants them to do.

Phoenix if you could prove that the Quran was not the final scripture then maybe i would believe you. lol phoenix somehow i can't see god choosing a school boy to spread his message.

      peace,

        Peace Phoenix,

I woud tell you that I believed you, out of fear that the lunacy you were displaying might have a violent aspect. voodoo
Then I would slowly back out of the "cavehouse" and sprint to my pegasus(her name is Sheena), and fly off into the sunset.

A messenger, in my understanding, would embody righteousness and divine wisdom.

        Peace,
        Tay

Living in a cave isn't bad.

It's living in an empty cave that I have a problem with.

He didn't have anything when I went in there. I wound up having to sit on a rock and then he told me wait no that's my table don't you have any manners ... i'm just saying it makes things a little awkward when you invite people in to your house, you try to explain to them the facts of life and you have no furniture... just think about it that's all i ask

                  Maybe I wasn't clear enough...

I say I am a messenger because I have a book which I claim is from God, and God gave it directly to me.
And you know me well and know that I am a good person. There is nothing suspicious about me.
Actually, just forget about me being a messenger. Let's just focus on my book.

Maybe I should've kept the humour out of this as much as possible.
I don't want it to be funny, really. I want this to be a bit serious. So we can get some answers and reach a better understanding. That's all.
If I've gone over the top, please feel free to tell me about it.

Considering how I suddenly got bad karma after posting this, people didn't exactly like this. Sorry.
Again, If you feel I'm being ridiculous, let me know about it. I'll try to use less ridiculous words next time.
If I'm being unclear, please let me know about that too. I've already made some changes to my original post.
If you were just offended, I'm feel sorry for you, since there was nothing offensive about my post.

                      peace waleed

                      just a suggestion

                      starting out by saying

One sunny morning, while you are waiting for coffee at Dunkin Donuts, I come up to you and tell you that I am a messenger from God. When you start laughing, I say that I can prove it to you. So you forget about your coffee and follow me to my home (which for some reason looks like a cave).

That's not a serious tone bro , if you intend a serious post don't start out like that... no-one will take it seriously. LOL don't be so over the top if you are intending to be serious.

                            Peace,

Phoenix, the Quran had it's succes because of the way it is put together in arabic, being a poetic people, they knew the difference between man-made and coming from God, as no human ever touched such brilliant prose. Even to me, who cannot speak arabic well, it shocks my soul when i listen to it. This was also with Jesus, who's words were above human quality and knowledge. So i believe you approach this thread wrong, i understand your purpose, but it is not that easy as you present it here...

                              Peace phoenix1,

Surely I won't believe you, unless I know you for a very long time and still I would have to verify your book.

Remember that all the messengers were sent to their own people, not to some strangers, and even then had problems convincing them of the veracity of their message.

                                As salamu alaykum.
                                Respectfully.

No offence, brother Phoenix1 but as you know, you'd have to bring at least one piece of evidence, besides the Book. People might ask you to tell God Almighty to punish them for rejecting your book.

Allah Most Merciful always sent miralces with the messengers so that they can prove to the people that they tell the truth. Moses with the stick changing to the snake and Jesus with healing and Muhammad with Qur'an.
Others are also mentioned but i forget which suras.

                                No offence brother.
May Allah Most Merciful reward you with Paradise. jedi

I'm sorry bro, I was just in a silly mood last night and filtered out your question and stuck to the humor D

You do raise a valid question though.

I'm not certain what you're trying to see from the replies of your answer (i'm thinking of a few possibilities)

My serious response though would be that i probably wouldn't believe you (sorry -[). The messages messengers came with was never in story book form where his people could just read and reject or accept. It was a message that was revealed to them (the messengers) to tell the people in oral form and it always took a lifetime to complete. The message was also always mind-blowing that would turn the society upside down. It was never fairy tale stories of the past.

My apologies for not being serious before

                                  Peace All

Please don't be sorry. It's just a story, and I'm not planning on writing any book any time soon.
I want people to answer NO.
I think it's pretty obvious that no one will believe me.

                                      Peace phoenix1 n all,

Just thought I'd mention, I had a cousin of mine who asked me this type question some 15 years ago. His point at the time (and I'm not implying that this is what you mean) was, how were people the people during the prophets'/messengers' times meant to know that these were who they claim to be. And if they refused, as is expected, they would receive the wrath of God. In most, if not all cases, these men who claimed to come with the message of God, did not just come with a book and say, here read this, God wrote it. The person would be of a very good charactor. Someone they knew probably from when he was a child. Someone trustworthy. God would not choose a thug or a recluse to give his message to the people. There would really be no question about what this guy is talking about. The problem wasn't whether this person was bringing a message from God, In the cases shown, they knew this to be true, but they chose to reject it. Rejection came about because it affected their lifestyles they were accustomed to. I hope I didn't veer off too far...

So going back to the scenario, I'm at dunkin donuts (in the present time) and someone just comes to me and starts telling me to follow him to a cave (what the?..), coz he's got something to show me... nuh uh... ain't happening.

                                        Peace Phoenix,

Despite the humor, I did answer your question. As Zenje stated, a messenger is something more than a good person. It is a person who embodies divine guidance. He would be the person everyone would think of when seeking a just opinion. He would be humble yet stern, compassionate yet not easily swayed, and wise beyond intellectual knowledge. This because the messenger would constantly be in tune with the divine guidance. That, in itself, is the miracle he would come with. So, when he would ask you to see his "book", you would already have faith in him, and jump at the opportunity.

But, your description of what's in the book is where you lose any steam in this scenario. It's not enough to just say, "fish that fly", etc. One would have to hear the whole story before coming to a conclusion of whether or not the book is from God.

So, it's not the messenger alone, or the book alone, but both must present the divinity in a way that is undeniable to people who believe.

                                        Peace,
                                        Tay

Thank you for your answers guys.

                                          Anyway,
My point, and maybe I didn't do such a good job making it clear, was that if people will not believe stories like the one in the quran today, why would they believe such stories in the past?
The answer I think is that, as Tay said, the messenger would be a very good person with "divine" qualities

And if he/she told you stories, they would be told to get across a point, not to show the people history and miracles (there is no way he/she would know secret histroy from the past anyway).

Well, I don't know if anyone gained anything from this, but a few things have gotten clearer for me. One of them being that there is a flaw in my original question that I can't really fix (fixing it would make it pointless).

So no need to answer that question people. I already got my answer(s).
