Not another possible solution - just a different approach to understanding

perhaps verse 23 can shed some light. our understanding is
"Those who believe and dwell in the relationship with the metaphysical, and from what We provide, they distribute."I am not sure where you got "dwell", I assume you are translating what you understand to be implied.
I have it like this.
(23) Those who believe with the unseen (Subconcious realm of Causes where the God resides on Its throne) and they maintain the programming(of the subconcious) and from what We provided for them they spend.

Wow, Thanks Idolfree for such great posts on this subject. I have to say that I agree with you, and from my point of view what you were saying about human receptivity at dawn and dusk is the best I have yet to read on this topic. Personally, I feel that to understand the Qur'an better, we not only have to understand the Arabic language that is used, but that we also have to have a good general grasp on how all of creation operates. Even if you are the best at Arabic itself, but you're unobservant of the ayat (signs) that exist all around us, then your translation would come up way short of grasping its full meaning within the context of creation.
So, again, thanks for another viewpoint!

spot on idolfree1. though still uncomfortable with the current understanding - like there is something missing in the translation if we were to separate believing, uphold / strike / dwell / maintaining the 'salat' and distributing. the main issue is The Metaphysical (ghaib).
our understanding is that not only we believe in The Metaphysical, but we must also uphold / strike / dwell in the 'salat' with The Metaphysical, and from what we are provided by The Metaphysical, we distribute. this is the gist.
