Help to find Sunni and Shiite scholars

Dear brothers and sisters
For the Reformist Translation of the Quran, I received several reviews and more than a dozen endorsements from various scholars, authors and prominent leaders. However, none is Sunni or Shiite scholar.
Thus, the publishing house is very interested in receiving their review, more accurately criticism, so that they can publish the book as soon as possible.
Since I have cut my connections with the Sunni and Shiite world for almost two decades, I would appreciate if you help me creating a list of Sunni and Shiite scholars who are proficient in English and able to use computer and email?

It would be helpful, if we could also keep track of who has been contacted and who hasn't. This is for two reasons.
- We don't waste our time contacting a person who has already listened and turned away.
- It is impolite to keep pinging the same person again and again.
I suggested this before, that we need to create sticky threads with contact names, so people can then post their correspondances, and everyone can know
what has happened - we could all learn a great deal from this.Perhaps the admins here need to spend less time banning people and more time creating productive tools for people to use. brickwall

try [email protected] Abdul wahid is a Danish imam who speaks arab through 15-16 years, and due to travelling he has a good english aswell. But more than that, he is a freindly man, and its not entirely impossible that he will take a look at it. He is sunni, but openminded to suffi pracsis etc.

It will be nice if you manage to get Yusuf Alqaradawi's backing, he is very influential among most sunni population, and considered a moderate by the west, and when he was visiting in Britain, I read that he had an english website, maybe the admin can approach him?

Yusuf Al-Qardawi!, a Libian modern sunni scholar. I knew his books when I was high school kid and I met him in Muslim Youth Conference in 1980, during a two week camp. I listened to one or two of his lecture then. I was more interested in Ahmad Deedat...
He must be in his eighties.
I am not really looking for supportive reviews, and I do not expect any sound and sober Sunni gave me one. In fact, I got many nice reviews from non-Sunni scholars. The publishing house, at this point, is interested in more negative reviews. So that they can foresee the potential criticism from the majority of Muslims.

Dear Noble, Wakas, and those who are inquiring about the Reformist Translation
The translation was scheduled to be published in November 2006. However, we could not finish it on time. The publishing house rescheduled its publication. During my NY visit last month, I was told that it would be published within 7 months. But, I recently checked amazon.com and found out that its publication is scheduled for August 2007, which is too late. I contacted the editor and voiced my displeasure regarding the delay. She told me that as soon as she receives some reviews from traditional scholars, she would discuss the issue with her director to hasten its publication.

I am not to sure about having Irshad Manji endorse the book, her name alone could cause many to neglect the translation. Although I am sure you have thought it through and could give your reasoning.
Also isin't it dangerous for Layth to have his name on the book?

I need to look at the contract we signed it. This was one of the issues we negotiated, but I forgot the details. The publishing house is moving very slowly and carefully, since they know that it will receive high media attention. If I am reading them correctly, they appear to have some fears. Thus, they want to get some critical review from Sunnies and Shiites, before its publications
